  1. From the sounds of it your wheel lost its integrity... either complete rebuild or even beter - get a custom wheelset from Ruan Deyzel - Spokeworks - worth the bucks! Had the same problem with spokes continously breaking in the end the custom wheelset solved it - no hassles even after 2years of hard riding.
  2. Does anyone know what is happening with Teak place? Know it closed down last year, had some nice routes would be a shame if we can never ride there again..
  3. where did you park your cars?
  4. Anyone knows what the temperature and humidity was? Was tough but will do it anytime again! Watertables....skip the water beer refreshes better
  5. Can anyone give us feedback on the current conditions of the track etc? Mud tyres required? From the weather forecast it looks like it will be dryish?
  6. The sram chains last quite long. Saw on the fullsus bikes that you can get a lot of flex if your chainlength is not correct etc? RR tension/setup spot-on?
  7. I have been riding with sram on my mtb and wont switch to shimano. The sram chains are priced very closely to the shimano ones. Which groupset you riding with? Isnt your chain to long on the giant? Are you running a full suspension bike?
  8. The more mud the more fun
  9. Will get the specs and send them - one thing - on your current setup there is a "black bcking plate" on which the shimano derraleur fits - you have to remove this for the sram - easy just two bolts - if you are in a hurry give Kevin a shout at buycycle he knows which model you need - he helped me out when I did my build.
  10. there are sram ones which work - think it is the s1 types, got it on mine, will have a look and let you know
  11. For that kind of money I would get a set from Ruan Deyzel - Spokeworks - had my set now for two years and still running true- never needed to take them in to true and no maintanance - Running on Hope hubs. I am not the lightest of riders and ride quite hard. They are also very light.
  12. Try bester cycles in waterkloof. Also full performance cycles in lynwood road - sure that between the two you would get sorted out
  13. can those sections changed cut out some climbing? Bwahahaha

  15. Would be nice to start a bit earlier, but still love the race.
  16. Coming weekend is the Baberton MTB race - with all the rain pouring over the lowveld area - anyone/family/friends in the Baberton area who can give us an idea of the conditions of the race course?
  17. the weight is not so bad - if you look at what my current ust's weigh it is the same..
  18. and the x-king?
  19. I am doing Baberton next weekend - from the look of things it will be quite wet and muddy. Currently I am riding with a race king at the back and a mountain king at the front. I will keep the mountain king at the front, but want to hear what tyre to ride with at the back - the mountain king might be to agressive for the rear. Any thoughts?
  20. Also try rushsports: http://www.rushsports.co.za/Store/Buy/SRAM/SRAM-2x10-Chainring.aspx

  22. Hi Chris Thanks for the great specials! How bout you change the Maxxis special to a conti one - we have been waiting the last month and a half for you to stock on the race kings - worth a specail aint it?
  23. How did you secure it to your bakkie?
  24. Recently bought a specialized epic frame and did the build myself... Rather buy the specialized...awesome xc bike!!
  25. Also tested quite a few dual sus bikes, have to agree, the epic, 96 and even the scott bikes are a lot more xc orientated and feels more like a racing bike... use it dont use it..
