  1. I got the 2011 Felt Q920.
  2. Strangely enough I have the exact same issue with my Elixir 3 brakes on the MTB I bought a few weeks ago. I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they made a few adjustments which seemed to improve it a bit, but it still seems to be rubbing ever so slightly causing the wheel to also stop after only a few rotations (when spinning the wheel by hand). But hey, like you say, at least the extra drag is adding to the training...
  3. Thanks Spinnekop. Glad to hear that there are pads that are compatible and work well with both alu and carbon. With this being the case, I would definitely train with the heavier wheels and only race or do loooonger rides with the carbon wheels. Do you know where I can get the SwissStop pads? Are they easily available?
  4. Thanks Let's Ride
  5. Hello Hubbers, So I have been looking at a Reynolds Attack wheelset advertised by a fellow hubber (https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/32563-reynolds-attack-wheelset-brand-new-carbon/). The seller has been very helpful and I have received some advice from another mate. The deal looks like a good one and I am seriously considering getting these but I thought I would first ask the forum if anyone has any opinions or advice (good or bad) about these wheels? I understand I will need to get new brake pads for these wheels and I might potentially have to swap brake pads when I switch between these wheels and allumunium wheels unless I get swissstop or koolstop pads that can apparently work on both brake surfaces. Would these wheels be ok as training and race wheels or would you recommend to keep them for racing only. (I dont do more than 200kms a week). Any adivce or opinions will be appareciated. Thanks
  6. The mail I got also says there is an amount outstanding even though I paid in full but I have my entry and red socks sitting on my desk...
  7. No, they came with the bike. They are Mavic XM-317 Rims, Shimano M525 Hubset.
  8. Morning fellow hubbers, If anyone else has a spare entry for the 40km event please give me a shout, I have a mate who is keen but he couldn't get his @rse into gear and enter before they ran out... Can't wait for the beer..... Thanks
  9. Maybe she took the chicken run...
  10. Aaaaah shite, there is mine too... I checked the junk-mail not spam... sorry my bad.
  11. I am still waiting for my confirmation, I processed my entry on 21 June. Strange thing is that the other person I entered during the entry process apparently received a few confirmation emails but I got nothing.
  12. Some pics available on Facebook (for those who are on Facebook). https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.341812825888687.74352.149728515097120&type=1 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.401346789906524.88387.133720393335833&type=1
  13. It was my first MTB race, and actually my first MTB ride. Did the 30km race and enjoyed it. It was a well organized event and enjoyed the route and I only fell twice!! Will definitely be doing more MTB events, good fun and good training for the road races.
  14. My latest addition, Felt Q920
  15. http://www.snotr.com/video/9194/a_guy_walks_into_a_bar_magic_apples
  16. Congrats on the wheels W@nna-BE!! To make them louder you could just peg a piece of cardboard to your frame and let it run in the spokes (like when you were a kid), that makes quite a loud noise... Enjoy them, I wouldn't mind a set of deep sections.
  17. Agreed, as long as the priorities are not in the right place (and the right people don't have the balls) things will continue to go downhill. And by priorities I mean look at how much attention and focus was put into that painting but a man gets killed in front of his son and it will make headlines for a day and then forgotten about.
  18. Condolences to the family and I feel for that poor boy witnessing his father's death for a bicycle and a pair of shoes. It's just plain sick!! While looking at this article on News24 and quickly browsing over a few of the other headlines (corruption, murder, patient dieing after waiting 19hrs for ambulance, not being able to get hold of 10111, the list goes on) I am really saddened to see the state that our country is in. We have a beautiful country and I returned to this country after 5 years in the UK to make a life here, and when I read all these articles and hear the constant bad news on the radio it scares me to bring up my little 3 year girl and continue to grow my family in this country where we constantly feel the need to look over our shoulders and live in fear of what might happen next and if something does happen will we be able to get the help we deserve. I have always thought that every country has its crime related issues and SA is not for sissies but things in SA just seem to be getting worse and worse and this is making me consider getting out of here and heading for a safer location to grow my family and settle down and be able to go for a ride and not worry about getting attacked!! That's my rant for the day...
  19. I only remember one tandem and all I remember is that it was red... Like you say it's not easy remembering everything around you when your main priority is to stay upright!! I gave it everything I had left (which wasn't much) after Suikerbossie, managed to hook onto a few guys from L for a while but got dropped on the little climb coming out of Camps bay, then hooked onto a few more guys after that and we worked quite nicely to the finish. Next year, my goal will be 3:15 (weather permitting and no jolling on the Friday night )
  20. Azonic, I was on a black and white Felt (F4) and was wearing black, white and red UCS/Business Connexion kit.
  21. 3:31 for me, K was a good bunch, would have liked to hang on for a bit longer but felt buggered just before Chappies.
  22. Kallie.

    argus times

Also my first Argus, managed a 3:31 from K. I wasn't feeling great after about 70kms (too much partying on the Friday I think ), so had a quick stop at a WP and pushed on!! I must say, that first glimpse you get of Chappies is quite intimidating... Great event and great weekend away, will definitely be back next year but will only start the partying after the race...
