  1. I think it was R280 last year.
  2. Knorpantoffel, just a friendly heads up, assuming I am looking at the right person but I think I am because the 94.7 time matches to what you mentioned, Racetec still has you listed as starting in CC at 7:50. Did you perhaps get a reseed. You might want to check that out to prevent being DQ'd.
  3. Cool, you're ok then, you will get a time... To answer your original question, I am taking: - Cash for beers after race (pocket) - MOST IMPORTANT THING My first Argus and I can't wait to get this race started!!!
  4. So far you have all forgotten your timing chips...
  5. This was also my first Carnival race, very well organised and well marshalled. Thanks to all involved. There were a few crazy motorists who blatently ignored the marshals, the DL group almost came to a stand still quite early in the race when some clown in a bakkie didnt stop when told to do so. I also saw a tannie driving up the finish shoot. Well done to ChampionChip for getting the results up so quickly (and correctly). Thanks to the front guys pulling the DL bunch along!! I wish I could have helped out in front but I was just fighting to hang on to the back especially after turing left at Nigel towards Duduza. Overall, a great race and I will definately be back next year.
  6. It's my first Argus and I am starting in K but definately wont be pushing for a Sub 3, I will be happy with anything under 3:30 (weather permitting).
  7. Not quite as porn as some of the machines on this thread but here is my contribution to the thread with my mostly black Felt.
  8. Start groups / seeding is up on https://za.onreg.com/onreg2/startlist/index.php?id=35

    Ride for Sight

This was my first Ride for Sight since back in the day when it started at Hyperama in Benoni. I did the 116km event and enjoyed it even though it was tougher than I thought it was going to be , but good training for the Argus!! Very well organized and well done to the marshals. I will be definately be back next year!!
  10. Results are up but they are a mess... AGAIN!!
  11. I got the 2011 Felt F4 with full Ultegra and Ksyrium Equipes wheelset. It relatively light (7.3kgs) for the price as well if weight is important to you. Got it for R20k directly from Felt's clearance special on Felt's website www.felt.co.za. I am very happy with it!! Nice stiff frame with a decent groupset even though it's not campag. Good luck with your purchase!!
  12. A bit off topic but I was just wondering, has anyone ever been successful in requesting a better start group for these smaller events? The reason I ask is because I am starting in DL and my training buddy is in HL but he is equally as strong as I am (if not stronger), so I am considering begging and pleading the people at registration if he can start in DL as well (or at least something a bit earlier than HL), but I am thinking I will just be wasting my time?
  13. Go to RaceTec's site > Results > Select the Emperors Race and search for your name. The avg speed is after the group position.
  14. This was my first Emperors Classic, I did the 97km / 103km event and enjoyed it. Nice fast ride, especially our last 30kms or so. Well organized and well done to the marshals for doing a great job. I will definately be back next year.
  15. I got into K at 6:54, quite chuffed for my first Argus I just hope the wind is kind to us!!

    CWC Service

Placed an order yesterday at 10:00 and it was delivered half an hour ago to JHB. Well done CWC!!
  17. +1
  18. I have only heard good reviews about the Garmin Edge 500. Other than on this topic, I haven't heard much about the Bryton but that doesn't mean it's any worse than the Garmin. Just some pricing indicators on the bundles, if you are looking at the bundle (Computer, HRM Strap and Cadence Sensor) option: Bryton 35 Bundle - R2,899 (http://www.bryton.co.za/south-africa/bryton-gps?aff_id=3&banner_id=6&vmcchk=1) Garmin Edge 500 - R2,699 - (http://www.easybike.co.za/garmin-edge-500-bundle.html) I would personally get the Garmin.
  19. Thanks for all the comments guys. I managed to get a new set of Dura-Ace 7900's for a fraction more expensive than the Keo's so I went for the Dura-Ace's. I hope I wont be disappointed...
  20. I agree, take the S10 due to the components. Ultegra 6700 on the S10 is a great groupset. I bought a S30 earlier this year, decent starter bike but I have since upgraded (this is an extremely addictive sport!!!). My new bike has ultegra and I love it. I heard that Cajees Fourways has a special on the 2011 CR1 for R9995 so maybe ask them about that as well.
  21. Hi Hubbers, I am in the market for a new set of road pedals, any recommendations for a budget of around R1200? So far I have seen the following in this price range: Look Keo 2 Max Ultegra 6700 Time I-Clic Fibreflex Time I-Clic Racer They all seem similar in weight, so was just wondering if any one of the above is better than the other. Thanks!!
  22. Thursday 17 November 2011: 10h00 - 18h00 Friday 18 November 2011: 10h00 - 18h00 Saturday 19 November 2011: 08h00 - 15h00 Don't forget your credit card Jatho!! Think I will catch the Gautrain there at about 15:00 today.
  23. I am also in the same boat, got my new bike last Friday, only ridden it twice since then but I am definitely doing the 94.7 on it.
  24. Shame she wasn't in good shape, I hope she is ok and recovers quickly. Not cool seeing a fellow cyclist down and out for so long
