  1. Our steps in Tokai can hardly be compared to what they have over there. If we go fast enough we will get down, because it's straight. The little rock garden on Mamba is the closest to that, and it's only a small drop compared to those steps.
  2. I don't get it. Surely the wheels and frames that weigh less should cost less? They're using less material
  3. Just go 3x10, unless you're gonna win.
  4. +1, When I started mtbing properly going down the ST's behind my dad helped a lot with the lines.
  5. Some Reynolds wheels, 1067grams, $2650 http://www.competitivecyclist.com/product-components/2012-reynolds-thirty-two-carbon-tubular-wheelset-8689.1994.0.html 900grams, $4500 http://www.competitivecyclist.com/product-components/2012-reynolds-rzr-46-tubular-wheelset-6753.1994.0.html
  6. DT Swiss have a 1000g wheelset for R18k http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/wheels-road/dt-swiss-en-2-3/dt-swiss-rcc-425f-tubular-32-front-wheel-dt-swiss.html
  7. It looks like it's being held together by elastic bands and cable ties
  8. Woah, just talking about the cycling comp that was arranged between the 3 schools. Not saying either is better, just some info.
  9. So just a small piece of info... A Triangular was arranged between SACS, Bishops and Rondebosch. Taking into account the top 4 riders' times for the Argus and then averaging it. Not sure about the other schools, but the organiser (Bishops boy) said that SACS won with an average of 3:05... If you're interested.
  10. So here it is!! Will post a review once I have ridden with it, may only be next weekend though.
  11. I average 170/178 for all my road races in the U16 bunch. Big bunches are a different story, and I cant remember what the avg is...
  12. Daisyway coaching do a similar thing, not specific to LOOK pedals but I think it must be quite similar.
  13. Just ordered mine Will land in SA on the 3rd of April!
  14. Route alternates every year for the road events doesn't it?
  15. Ok, age restrictions have been lifted on the 100km to an extent but I can ride. So I'll be entering the 100km road. 50km mtb. 14km trail run. Half Marathon. Xterra Lite. So amped!
  16. Its awesome! Quite a cool vibe going on. Did the 100km a 2 years ago and it was awesome! quite fast too, age restrictions now limit me to the 50km though Also did the 50km mtb 2 years ago, wasn't the complete route like it is now with the hill at the end, (world cup soccer players, huge story), hill at the beginning, flat and downhill at the end. Do it, won't regret it!
  17. Go Green
  18. The force applied, if you're putting out more watts then surely the spokes are more likely to break? Just saying that the mavic's can withstand surges and still be fine. Without spokes breaking.
  19. I get up to 800 watts every ride on mine, and sometimes on 1000, and they're still perfect.
  20. Just have to say with regards to this that a large percentage of the B riders we caught, and I think we caught a fair amount, (Racetec down, so not an exact number) were extremely inconsiderate! We caught some lone riders from wynberg hill and then a few km's before smits we caught a relatively big B group, usually it wouldn't be a problem but our group had almost 100% of the starters and the B group wouldn't move over to the left, so brakes screeched, I actually saw some smoke coming of a guys tyre! Same story up chappies, people that are dropped must ride on the left. I think everybody was expecting a free ride, which sucked. Group was also too big, 330 odd. Unlucky Johan, but I'm sure you'll get it next year. We can do some hill sprints before then and break away in the race
  21. Is there a sub 3 lounge at the expo? According to velotex...
  22. That would be an awesome route Would also split the bunches a lot earlier, ours only split at smits...
  23. 3rd last person to crack sub 3 this year, with 5 seconds to spare. 10min improvement on last year. C group was 3mins behind a sub3 time at edinborough, and 6 behind in simons town, then after smits we must've really picked it up to get in in time... If that sub3 kit comes in white... Nah, I saw a guy wearing it in C, and all I thought was poser.
  24. Ladies, Vets and Masters, they all ride together.
  25. Well this year there were 565 sub 3's. Last year there were 958 sub 3's. And in 2010, (quite windy) there were 133.
