  1. Typically no - they are usually sold separate... Should check first! I see CRC do include the BB bearings with some cranks... jmaccelari2009-12-30 03:29:27
  2. I think that's a "depends on what you have question". Your frame would need to be able to accept a Hollowtech compatible external BB. I certainly can't answer this one authoritatively. Maybe Johan B can help?
  3. I'm not an expert on this one, but I believe that Hollowtech is more rigid per gram and also overall lighter...
  4. And if Ah finds any of youse lily little white boys a-ridin' your bike on the highway, Ah AM gonna fine yo' little white asses...
  5. Sadly, not if you have a screw loose...
  6. Oh. And even with the passing familiarity with Arran that I have, my impression has been that he is a professional and a decent cyclist unlike the shamateur and self-inflated egotistical fun riders who are more often than not the (self righteous) transgressors of the helmet laws. **** 'em...
  7. Here's a pic of Jules on his bike...
  8. It's not a "hybrid". A hybrid has straight (MTB) bars on a road racing frame, typically with road racing tyres and wheels.. Cyclocross is a full road racing bike format, but with a slightly less aggressive geometry to allow for control off road, a stronger frame to handle the bumps and much stronger wheels (typically with about a 35mm tyre).
  9. I am - can't wait until I get it next year!!! Have also been playing around with this notion. Are you looking locally or to bring one in yourself? Omnico brings them in - GT and Scott. Apparently the GT is the better bike and you can talk to someone like West Rand Cycles...

  11. I also only use wet lube in the wet. As soon as I can I clean the chain and replace it with a dry lube (Motorex is my poison of choice here). I believe (maybe more knowledgeable Hubbers can help here) that wet lube in the dry picks up more dust and rubbish and accelerates wear on the drivechain? jmaccelari2009-12-23 22:37:07
  12. I prefer the Finish Line wet lube (green). Thug saved my life on the Sani Transfrontier with some (I forgot to pack mine). I also used Squirt on the Sabie Experience, but I don't think it's as good. Nothing scientific, purely subjective... I know some people swear by it...
  13. Google b tension adjustment: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_ba-n.html
  14. I was watching "Hot Fuzz" last night and my first reaction was to remember the main character's words at the scene of a car crash where he states that the scene should no longer referred to as an "accident" as this implies it is unavoidable and the word "collision" should be used. The sad thing is that this was more than likely a "collision" and two people were killed due most probably to someones's stupidity... I know I'm being prejudiced here and am flying off the handle with zero evidence, but with the level of heavy duty driving skills and the general attitude of the practitioners thereof, I hope someone lands up in jail on a murder charge for this one. My condolences to family & friends...
  15. Jules managed to squeeze a quart in at the shebeen other side of Breedts Nek. I believe he got home singing and dancing (on the pedals as per Phil L.)...
  16. Nancy - thanks for a fantastically organised ride. The little marshals and the coffee and eats at the start were great (as were the boerrie rolls and coolies at the end). Anton: **** me. How you got that bloody single speed rigid 29er up, down and back up Breedt's Neck amazes me. My vote for "Hardcore Hubber" of the day... It was embarrassing watching you disappear up the hilll...
  17. A gun in this case would have just landed up in their hands - unless one starts stopping everytime one sees pedestrians, hauls out one's gat & gets ready for a shootout...
