  1. Just read this on new24. My condolences. <CYNICISM> I note the report says cyclists should ride in a group. If this poor guy was in a group, I wonder how many would have been killed then? </CYNICISM>
  2. Garmin Edge 705. I love the mapping on an MTB - I have the recreational topo maps loaded...
  3. As a motorist and a cyclist (and a motor biker), I agree with the sentiments raised here. The basic problem is that no matter what form of transport he's using, there is ALWAYS some complete ****head out there with a chip on his shoulder...

  6. Awesome pics! Thanks Michelle!
  7. If it's a fundraiser, I reckon it's a tough call, but I reckon you are expected to pay and if you don't he can't make exceptions because you're young/a keen cyclist/a moffie/[fill in here]/...
  8. Damn. What can I add? My condolences to all involved...
  9. I was riding the Sani2c when I called my missus and found she'd hit one of Jhb's many trenches at about 15kph that morning and had gone over the handle barsand knocked herself out on the pavement. I wasn't popular having fun some 600kms away! Looks like someone gave her a massive klap - bruising and stitches to her eye and cheek, so the in-laws are now checking me out skeef... I hope your lady recovers soon, too!
  10. I have had the same issue since upgrading to the latest firmware - it NEVER happened before. I find if the unit stops registering ascent I switch it off and on again and this usually kick starts it again. I must admit it happens so often now I have stopped worry about the frikkin' reading. The good news is that it only seems to affect the ascent reading. The profile map still works and all the elevation data is still stored and can be transferred to your PC. Garmin really do seem to cock up their firmware from time to time...
  11. Luvverly, but you need one of those old style "Princess Leia" helmets!
  12. That's Spain. And it's what Maria Isabel Moreno said in Beijing...
  13. Awesome bike - I love leftys... Droool... It could do with a couch, though...
  14. The Labuschangnes are great guys...
  15. Well, at least we know how it got injected into her...
  16. What I can say is that the Fast One trashed a set of new brake pads in one go on Sunday. When I cleaned the wheels, I found a nice grinding paste of brake compound and mud. If there was any rubbing on the frame the mud would cause major damage (in my opinion). My cages have a good lip at the bottom so the bottles can't fall out and also a "backbone", preventing any sort of contact between the bottles and frame and I have never seen this sort of damage (Elite carbon cages & Spec MTB plastic ones).
  17. Excellent! Who's putting this together? How come CSA can't pull off something like this with all the money they're embezzeling?
  18. I'm not negative. I think it will go off well... However, I am not interested in it (I don't care for watching soccer) and feel the money could have been better spent elsewhere, but that's another topic...
  19. Read my sig... Listen to what others have to say, filter it out, think about it and make up your own mind...
  20. Bos makes a good point, however, clipless pedals are more efficient for pedalling, so if you're doing XC, it'll be much easier with clipless than platform. If you want to improve your skills, then use platforms. Downhillers use platforms because pedalling action is not as important as being able to put their feet out many time in short succession. You can't do that with clipless (unclip, foot out, clip back in, ...)!
  21. Not at all. The secret is to get used to unclipping by twisting your ankle out. I can unclip as fast as I can put my foot down. Remember - twist ankle out as you unclip... It's a habit thing.
