  7. "Hello Uncle" or "Hello Oom" is something many of us in this "Club", myself included (a fairly newish member by the way), i'm guessing have been hearing for quite some time. When i was little we were taught that referring to your elders in this way, was a manner of showing respect, whether it be direct family or non-family members, of a certain age. I was never quite sure what "this age" was, so i suppose everybody who looked to be over, say 30/40, qualified. When i reached a certain age myself, and heard this term directed at me, it came as a bit of a surprise but i understood where it comes from, took no offence to being referred too in that manner and just accepted it. My wife, i think, is still having a tough time with the "Tannie" thing however . This morning however left me totally dumbstruck. Driving to work, i stopped at the robot and this youngster (looks to be about 21-22 years old) was handing out these pamphlets advertising motor vehicle services for a nearby garage, walks up to my window, extends his hand, and while offering me the pamphlet says "Hello Oupa". I don't think i've ever been at a loss for words, but this morning, NOTHING. He probably thought i was rude just staring at him, but really i just could not conjure up anything to say. Now i understand that my bicycles are all of the 1inch steerer-tube variety and none of them are of the sloping toptube variety but being called "Oupa" is just nasty. So guys and girls, please tell your children and grandchildren the Uncle/Oom or Aunty/Tannie thing is ok (with no age cutoff), but to please reserve the Oupa/Ouma thing for your immediate grandparents or in-laws
  8. This one's going to require a build thread of its own. Looking forward to it

  11. Probably going to get flak from the C60 and the C64 owners, but i think the C59 model is by far the most beautiful of the modern day Colnago's .

  17. Hi all Introducing .... "The bicycle the Hub built......well almost" ???? Going through the parts inventory list for the C40 a few weeks back, I discovered that almost everything for this build was purchased from a fellow hubber. Every component or accessory, with the exception of the bottom bracket cable guide, headset spacers and cable end-clips have been purchased from a hubber. The tubes are from CWCycles, but since the Oom has a Hub account, i suppose he's considered a hubber ????. I purchased the frameset in September 2016; its a C40 Mk2 with Urs Freuler geometry, and had to control the urge jumping into the build, since it was planned as a 2017 project. Some of you may recognize it in a different guise from earlier in this thread ????. Sourcing the various components began back in February, with the last purchase, being the wheelset, taking place in November. Firsts on a build for me include; 1st Colnago frame, 1st "deepish"-section wheelset and 1st wireless bead tyres. Also a first... 3mm water bottle cage bolts. Not come across these before ????. It's going to be difficult judging which particular component has the greatest effect on the bicycle's ride quality until i've put a decent mileage on the bicycle. I've completed a few projects the past couple of years but have to admit this build has probably been the most collaborative with more "assists" than on any other build. Many thanks to everyone who has offered time, assistance, advice, great deals and to those persons who have donated parts. If this C40's ride result provides even half the pleasure the project build has, then this is gonna be one great ride. Many thanks to : EvanB, JMK1, Morph, King of the Downhill, Cippo, HeartCoppi, CWCycles, trail-er-park, Brett, plus 1 other - apologies but i forgot the sellers name ???? and my LBS. Regards Sean
  18. I saw the activity on the Hub myself yesterday. Got home last night and did a final inventory of all parts required to finish my build. Everything there, so no excuses. By weeks end my almost 15 months project will be complete.
  19. Enjoy
  20. Congratulations Bogus. That's some beautiful work
