  1. Doom...
  2. Have been using Prepsol for years with no real adverse effect. For serious grease and gunk ( moorcycle chain, etc ), I have found it is not a serious degreaser, but its a really good cleaner. Have used it on carpets, car seats, motorcycles, bikes etc. What i have found is that it will dull paint. and when i say that it would seem that it is really effective at stripping the polish from paint. I washed a non metallic car with prepsol once...... and lets just say that I spent hours repolishing it. I find that it tends to dull cheaper painted parts and shiny alu over time.. All of this my own experience, lest someone tells me I an idiot and it doesnt do it
  3. Wasnt told upfront that the reason for non payment was Cannondale sub contract......... No apology needed... Was told....... Apology in order Still shaking my head as to why there was such little communication, it appears, from DCM to tiger cycles.. The way the apology was worded, I suspect there was a nasty lawyers letter delivered... It is inconcievable to me that tiger would have gone to such lengths on a public forum if he knew that there was a admin snarl up... And not to forget Zoon's assertion to broken frames et al.. Much more to this story than this mere apology... Wonder if he being paid as yet
  4. Such bad news for the SA BMX community.. The kids were beside themselves with excitement that he would be racing in PMB in a few months.. This young man is a true world star, very commited to helping others and all round nice guy. Prayers all round for a full recovery. Back/spine injuries are never not serious..
  5. Mampara, the parts scenario makes sense... Still think there is a opportunity for an insurer to cover just theft and write of for nominated value... Whether they will or wont is entirely another question
  6. Is there a scenario where you may nominate a value for an item? So if I only want to insure my bike for 10K and pay the full premium for 10k. The risk to the insurer is only 10k and they are getting the premium for 10K. I would obviously only claim up to 10K... Irrespective that the value of the bike may be more than 10K.... no loss to the insurer... they are getting the premium they rated the risk on surely?
  7. Ethics and morals. Agree entirely with Chuck. Use a auction or take offers if you are unsure what an item is worth or how much you can get.. Up for sale for R10 and I offer R10, do the right thing, and sell it at that price. Thats after all what you expected and were happy with when you first posted. Yes, its the internet and there are no rules. But for sure your selling reputation is going to be damaged if you mess around with the price. There one or two peeps on here that i will never buy from because they have done this. A perfect example of how to handle/resolve a similar issue was the one with slowbee and the brakes... Misunderstandings and miscommunications can and do happen. Resolving it the right way and perhaps apologising goes a long way... Telling someone to stay out of the kitchen is just pissing off potential buyers of the future.
  8. 20 inch Presta tubes available at shops that stock Bmx race bikes... Its the Presta 20 with removable core that are a major prob to find..
  9. Helmets on backwards...... see it all the time... and they tell you they like it like that... Speaking of backwards... I see kids bikes with the forks backwards all the time... Mostly the Makro and PnP specials... kids tell me they got them like that.. Perhaps Probike and others should have a little training at shop level..
  10. We are on the same page holy, especially the playground part... The JD bug part doesn't surprise me at all... Some parents just shouldn't have children! Thats why a decent area for kids to ride, near the coffee shop and stricter control in terms of who enters the trails and you have won half the battle... Perhaps a armband with the parents phone number attached to the kid/bike would also help.... Im going to act dof the next time I am there and see if soemone tells me some do's and donts.. The only, and I mean only interaction I have had when entering is to sign, pay and ask for cable ties..... Thats it, not once have I been asked if I am familiar with the rules etc... I cant help but use our track as example. Sure its a lot smaller, but you can see the kids the entire time and there is always someone watching for no helmets, riding the wrong way etc. Lots of gentle advice in terms of.... little Johny is really enjoying himself, but perhaps the big step into the bowl is not the best place to ride.... We have indeminities, loud and clear on the walls etc, but we are not so much worried that the parents may sue, but that the kids get hurt because the parents didnt know any better and we ignored them....
  11. Of course the parents are responsible and so they should be. But in the case of the bike park, they are providing a venue that lends itself to parents kicking back at the Seattle Coffee shop, I mean its there so it must mean the we can sit there while the kids wander of .... right..? Lots of parents have no idea just how big the park is to a small kid.... and thats where the park needs to be responsible.. Explaining when they sign in is one thing, after the indeminity they seem to abdicate responsibility.. At the very least, have a marshall at the top of the tar entrance to stop kids from going onto the trails easily...
  12. Have to disagree there holy, In the couple of times we have ridden there and the countless times we have been there to practice on the BMX track, not once has anyone at the payment portal asked me If knew where to go and what to avoid, etc, etc.. And we usually have kids with us... On busy weekends with multiple birthday parties, a few riding marshalls with bibs and a few standing marshalls at the BMX track/ danger spots for passing/black routes would cost very little in the context of the amount of people at the park on a sunny weekend day.. I wont let my kids ride the trails alone, not because Im worried about them getting in the way of others, but because Im *** scared that they will hurt themselves. Lots of 4x4 pavement driving parents think its a place to drop Johnny of the day in a controlled enviroment.... That indeminity is going to mean jack squat when some high powered lawyers child gets seriously hurt....
  13. Ali Maclean sometimes watches threads on the hub ( closest person involved I can come up with ), but in reality most unlikely... for all sorts of reasons.. I have always tried to first email or call before I participate with first hand experience.
  14. Never mind the trails ( have stopped riding the trails at the park because of the kids ), but I have multi heart attacks when Im there with laaitie practicing on the BMX track... My 9 yr old knows what he is doing, has a serious BMX race bike that left me eating bread and water for a month ( what fathers do for kids! ) and takes his practice seriously. He wars full kit whic includes a full face helmet. So Sat pm are prime times for kiddies parties and you then get the whole worlds kids streaming onto the BMX track and crashing wholesale.. Kids on Makro specials, 16 inch bikes, MTB's that are way too big... 1. Down the start ramp and brake halfway up the first jump because its too high... slide all the way back down.. multiple roasties 2. Over the first jump and fall because the lip of the jump is faced for jumping.. Roasties and injuries 3. Join the track at any point... very important... wait for another kid/adult to come flying over a jump/of the berm and join just in front of them.. Injuries and eina to bikes... Abuse from parents once they find poor Johnny is also a given in this instance.. 4. Beacause you are the only adult around for 300mtrs, you get blood and snot on your shirt... The night of the very first Hub pre ride, I asked Geoff and others where the little kids would ride.... Some talk of a smaller BMX track, but nothing to date... For R1800 for a B/Party ( eye watering ) what do you get? No instruction on where and when to ride A tiny tar area for kids with training wheels No marshal to watch kids on the pump track or other areas. ( Adults cannot ride the pump track unless you use the kids as rollers ) A spot at the tables under the thatch... if you can fight of the other parents who also paid R50 per kids and feel like sitting there.. Our track charges R500 for a party and we close the track to the public for 4 hours for exclusive use, exactly because of these problems... This is all first hand experience and something i have written to the park about.. Not everyone can ride at 5.30 am in the morning and so we dont ride the park on the weekends either. Pity, because I really liked it in the beginning..
  15. Problem is that no one seems to have told tiger cycles about the possible reason for non payment.. 99% of people would have reacted the same way as he did.. I feel his frustration.. DCM/Ian.. etc, etc whoever is involved is not affected by the non payment, they go on drawing salaries... not so tiger who is a small business.. It increasingly appears to be a case of DCM the actual company having no idea of what we are talking about and rather rely on a manager to authorise invoices which were obviously budgeted for in the 1st place.. Its highly unlikely that tiger would have so lambasted a company on a public forum if he knew what the potential fallout might be if he was shown to be wrong. Tiger has a shop and relies on customers... his reputation would suffer if he was being selective in his postings... As far as Brandons post goes..... it accomplished nothing. If he is/was so fearful of losing his teams sponsor, why doesnt he put pressure on the manager to pay the ruddy mechanic. Nowhere did tiger or any of the other posters question the riders.. Riders on the team have nothing to do with supplier payments and as such his post here accomplished zero.. The fact that DCM saved the World Cup has f all to do with a payment to a small supplier.. I cant actually believe that this was offered up as a reason to leave the company alone... Not so much DCM here at fault, but more the manager who would be responsible for contratcual payments.. To those negative towards tiger, try your hand at being a small business for awhile... and find out what negative cash flow is like... Its hard being understanding when you dont get paid because people are 'too busy', 'travelling', ' in a meeting', 'is overseas'..
  16. Clearly the matter is somewhat more serious than perhaps just outselling the rep/cheaper sealant. Any company has the right to protect its product and the way it is distributed. Even if Rad had bought it from Makro or a tyre place, placing it a diff container and selling it under another name might be where the problem lies. The company perhaps exposes itself to problems if something goes wrong after the decanting... especially if they knew that Rad wasn't and authorised dealer and hadn't been trained and blah, blah fishpaste.. Im sure you get the idea of the possible problems.. Its why many companies will not sell to the public directly..
  17. Jeez Rad... approach a friendly tyre place or off road motorcycle shop and get them to order a 200 ltr drum for you... Will still be cheap...
  18. Its all relative isnt it... I wish I had that problem as well... but I live in a small house and drive a 4 year old car and my wife a 8 year old car... mates have mansions and sports cars... for them the repayments are relative to earnings, as are mine....
  19. If you can affford it, buy it. It looks brilliant. Whne he outgrows it, bolt it the wall in your sports pub/where you watch the Ferrari resurgence ( starts next race! )
  20. getting rust off.... Soak in lemon juice overnight...... thereafter hold in steam path from your kettle... ( use a pliers or something so as to not burn your fingers) and wipe with a cloth.. I didnt believe it either until I tried it last week.... removed 3 yr old rust like a charm..
  21. Will send you some designs and ideas via email, remind me tomm at the track..
