  1. Reckon if its side to side play then either.. The cones are loose, or if no cones, then locknut on axle... Or wheel has been tightened slightly off center on the fork dropouts... tightening against the 'lawyer tabs'? My 25 million Zim dollars worth... Hope it helps..

    Thanks mate!

    XTR RD??

More education for dummies... Is the correct RD for what we are talking about... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=9735
  4. Sorry to hear Intern... yours is the 4th bike/bikes stolen in this area in the last 2 months.. I tored the Cash Convertors as well... but nada..

    XTR RD??

    Thanks DB, most appreciated.
  6. Thoughts on these? Good price and seem light enough? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15706

    XTR RD??

Thanks DB.. for taking the time to reply When I started MTB... in the hippie days.. Rapid fire shifters were the only choice..... coming back to MTB, I just could not get used to Dual Control.. now have LX M530 triggers and needed to know which RD to get I assume HIGH NORMAL will be the ones?

    XTR RD??

Ok, education for dummies here... Trigger shifters... push with thumb and pull with a forefinger.. ( I have these ) Which RD starts/resting position at the small sprocket at the back and moves up the cluster with a push on the thumb...? Forgive me, all this talk of rapid rise/shortcage/low normal/top normal.. confuses the daylights out of me..
  9. If its in your garage at home and your garage is broken into, then outsurance wont pay under householders unless its specified. At least thats what happened a few years back to us.... Needless to say Outsurance have never seen a cent from us again.. a claim for R3000 cost them at least R30000 in premiums to date... with no further claims...
  10. Re post above.... could be seen as possibly a dominant player forcing a smaller one out of the market by abusing size and ability to undercut.... that was still illegal/monopolistic the last time I looked. Still Im no lawyer, so i could be way of target here.. The tone of Pro Bikes email makes the assumption/jump fairly easy to see how they could use the influence, especially with the other brands that they hold, and bring pressure to bear on an lbs as regards a competitor...
  11. The post above says it.... respect for other riders... ascending or descending... and all is well with the world. Bustingvomit, your attitude is going to get you serious PK from someone in CT soon... and I will applaud that day because then maybe you will learn to respect other users of a natural trail..

    Cone Spanners

    They are used for cones.....
  13. Of course, my dear child. Please let us know when you will be in JHB to ride, so I can warn all the unworthies to please be aware that the guru will be coming through.. Of course I cant talk for the more aggressive riders that wont take too kindly to this unquestioned fact that the guru must be allowed to do whetever he wants, but we can cross that bridge we come to it.... actually no, I will just destroy the bridge before we come to it as to not let your exlated highness get bored by riding over it... But of course, gurus of MTB like yourself have muscles as big as their mouths, so there should really be no problem with agrresive riders... These non mover outer of the wayer lycra clad Tontos must be taught the sickness..
  14. Thats what im telling the wife!
  15. Hijack on, Yes I did Hog, thanks very much. Lighties are now sporting two very high end BMX race bikes and I am riding a clunker But this last weekend racing showed it was all worth it. Would rather see my kids ecstatic than myself. Hijack of
  16. bustthevomit, why did you let it slide that time? Why didn't you pull that lycra clad TONTO of his bike and teach him that you have the right to decide when and how you ride the trails and that everyone else has to bow down to your obvious wisdom about all things mountain biking... Please, please, I beg of you to grant me the honour, oh exalted one, of being the poor slob who is puffing uphill when you are screaming downhill in your state of euphoria, the next time I am in CT? I will make sure to immediately throw my bike to the left, as far of the trail as I can, and make sure that my forehead touches the ground as you go whizzing by... After all, the guru of all things MTB deserves such respect surely..
  17. What they said.... whatever you want..
  18. Otherwise you could just do this.... R42 in total from Builders Warehouse... ( mainly because I had to buy a bigger/new drill bit..
  19. And of course you just get guys like me who just like the look of the presta valve a lot more.. shallow... I know, but when you are slow and are always at the back, you need to have some style... or at least think you have... JB's reasoning is excellent and should be used by all.. because it makes sense. My obsession with presta is... yes I think it looks better, but mainly because presta was always high end and schrader was for the poor boys who couldnt afford anything else when I was growing up, light years ago... and of course they had to go to the garage to pump tyres...
  20. Nice post Porky, saved my fingers from typing prety much the same thing
  21. Most BMX tubes with Presta valves ( not even going the removable core route here ) are made for BMX racing wheels in sizes 20 by 1 1/8 and 1 3/8... these will be plenty wide enough for a tjoopless conversion.. Finish Line in Kempton Park... ( will post to CT ) Cycle Fusion in Weltevreden Northcliff cycles in Northcliff all have stock..
  22. Pity about the total lack of interest my mate got from the park management when his car was stolen from the carpark there two weeks back.. Time for at least a security guard on the weekends at least perhaps? Edit, this has of course nothing to do with park itself ( riding area, etc ) which I enjoy as well. And of course the Bmx track which is a big drawcard for us.. Speaking of the carpark, have no idea what will happen later this year when the BMX SA's take place there... carpark is way too small.. Going to be mayhem with about 800 people all streaming to the Bmx rack as well KDEE2009-04-20 08:02:57
  23. I have had numerous parts powdercoated for my motorcycles and some stands for the shop. It will dull over time and with use. Scuffing on the cranks will need repolishing to keep it looking sharp. Threads are a major problem. We tried silicone plugs which worked.. Best bet ever was to use old screws and bolts that were removed after powder coating. For the frame... save you old BB... Turn the crew/bolt/BB in only halfway...
  24. Bustvomit, you find that the praying to Satan thing works for you eh? Pity that he couldnt set fire to that bridge with that fork of his then.. but we cant have everything in life I suppose..
