  1. 1.2km with 143m elevation gain according to Strava "https://www.strava.com/segments/818901?filter=overall"
  2. You will need a 12 speed rear mech and 12 speed shifter which is only available in SRAM format.
  3. The matter has already been reported to the bank. The fraud department is just waiting for the cheque to bounce before the can officially log the matter and investigate it. I did google the number but got no hits on it so I assumed its a new sim card that he is using.
  4. I just want to alert fellow hubbers of this scammer. His mode of operation is classic scammer. He contacted me on Tuesday evening to buy my bicycle listed in the classifieds. On Wednesday he phoned me, and without seeing the bike or really asking anything about the condition he asked for banking details. A few hours later I got an SMS stating that the amount has been paid over, but obviously there was nothing in my account. He phoned me again and said that the money will take 24 hours to clear even though it is from ABSA to ABSA, because it was paid from a corporate account, but he wants the bike immediately. I refused and told him he can wait until the money clears. Yesterday I received another alert from the bank stating he made a cheque deposit into my account, which obviously is lying there uncleared. I received another phone call and he said that he want to come and fetch the bike. When I told him that I work at ABSA head office and that I know exactly what he is busy with, he put the phone down immediately and I haven't heard a word from him again. Be careful on the classifieds guys!!!
  5. This is definitely not the sellers problem assuming the product is genuine. Take it up with whoever installed it or with the manufacturer. Sometimes Sh!t happens. Like when you get a flat on the first ride on a new tire. Are you going to complain to the person who sold you the tire as well?
  6. They've changed their story by producing their own version. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/za/en/shimano-sm-cn900-11-speed-quick-link/rp-prod147138 Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  7. They come at a very nice price though... https://www.cogentindustries.co.za/product/universal-bearing-press-set-1721/
  8. I cleaned everything thoroughly before doing this. I did not want to mess anything up... It was an emergency job at 8pm so had to make a plan Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  9. I used the same bleed kit I use for my SRAM guide brakes. Worked perfectly. I also used the same Motul 5wt suspension oil I use in the damper of my RS-1. So far so good
  10. When I get into your position I use a bomb to seat the tyre without any sealant. I then deflate, insert the sealant through the valve, and re-inflate with a floor pump thus keeping the sealant away from any funny effects of the CO2.
  11. Shimano brakes typically use mineral oil. Using something else might destroy your seals but I'm not sure what shock oil will do to it. All I know is that dot fluid will destroy a mineral oil system.
  12. What about De Gendt for most combatitave? He has been in every break of the tour...
  13. 36 Oval with Sram Eagle. Thats the biggest one that will fit my bike...
  14. Im still waiting for my bonus points...
  15. Glad to have another race in Gauteng with full road closure and its within riding distance from my house... Entered for the long one
  16. I jumped in about 20 minutes ago. hopefully I still qualify for the mahala bonus points
  17. So jy klim dronk in 'n onglisensieerde voertuig, ry bo die spoed limiet 'n fietsryer dood en dit beteken 3 maande in die tronk...WTF?????????????????????
  18. I've got the SRAM Guide RS brakes, having changed from the Magura MT6 which came with my bike. I've ridden Shimano XT as well as Formula RX(I think that's what they're called) in the past. The Guide RS is by far the most pleasant experience I have had. They just work. They have excellent modulation, don't overheat and just keep on going. My stage racing partner rides with the Level ultimates. What I have noticed is that I have more control with the guides as they have the dual piston vs single in the levels. He would lock up his brakes much more regularly than I would when things get a bit technical. If I had to choose again, I would still go with the guides for my riding style.
  19. Uncleslow, you are right in saying that the S-Works' value is equal to the sum of its parts. It comes out with the best parts money can buy. The question people are addressing is whether we really need top of the range components on our bikes. If you look for example at the difference between Eagle X0 and XX, it comes down to a small weight difference. The components work exactly the same and will give the rider exactly the same level of enjoyment. By buying the expert or pro model, the buyer can decide which parts he really wants to be top of the range and which ones he is happy to have "mid" level components. Today's X9/X0 or SLX/XT level components works flawlessly anyway with the only real benefit being weight if you go for XTR or XX. We don't race our bikes even remotely close to their limits so if a shifter can shift 2 nanoseconds quicker at double the price will never make a difference...
  20. I rode a 2014 Epic Marathon(10m Carbon), and it was warranteed with the 2015 frame(11m Carbon). The 2015 Marathon frame was the same as the S-Works frame. To be honest from a frame perspective you will not notice the difference between a Expert/Pro frame and a S-Works frame. If you want the bragging rights, get the S-Works. If you want to be smart about it get the Expert and upgrade the wheels and other bits as you go along... Your wallet will thank you
  21. The difference between 9m and 11m is not the quality of the carbon but the carbon layup...
  22. Im down to 7 fit riders after the Majka withdrawal. I was sitting pretty in 30th place at the start of yesterdays stage. Now I'm hoping Matthews and GVA produces some magic in the next 2 weeks.
  23. Big moving day for me. Got 6 out of the top 10 in my team... Up to 51st
