  1. I see on twitter that neil mcdonald has withdrawn from the epic for 2014. I wonder i Kevin is still going to ride and if so with who? It will be really crap if he doesnt as he has shown great form this year.
  2. I have 26/39 which works very nicely for my on a DS 29er, but to be honest I very rarely go into the 26. I used it at Sabie quite a lot but you dont get those types of hills in Gauteng. If you are looking at riding stuff like Sabie, I wouldnt go to the 28/42 unless you are proper strong...
  3. I know Fritz has got a black Scott Duallie. He comes to ride with the Velo group in Pta east during the week sometimes.
  4. I bought my wife one of the Giant Anthem X29W's last year and she is absolutely loving it. The components was comparable with a mens bike in the same price class and Giant did not try and sell it with a pink/purple/flowery or whatever paint scheme. It was the first woman's specific design I bothered to look at as all the rest was just a pretty paint job with crappy components at R5k extra... The Specialized Rumor also attracted my attention but was just out of my price class...
  5. All newer derailers only come with adjuster at the shifter afaik. All my bikes only have an adjuster at the shifter
  6. Use the barrel at the shifter. Counter clockwise would be to tighten
  7. Max you're just glad you get to watch it from the couch this year aren't you?
  8. I wouldnt write off Bell and Kleinhans for the red. It all just depends on how reliable Susi and Rabubi's equipment is going to be...
  9. Susi rode with a newbie at the epic last year and they still won it. Yes it was the olympic champion but everyone thought it would not work as Kulhavy is a XC rider... I wont write Susi off. The epic is his race!!! I am also exited to see what Nino and Philip can do. If Kevin had a stronger partner they would've been right up there as he is in great form at the moment. Its going to be some exiting racing, but those Bulls are going to be hard to beat!!!
  10. You definitely got shafted... Go and k@k out that mechanic!!!
  11. I also use the X-King Protection and it very clearly says protection on the one side of the tyre... I know its a race king in the picture but my X-Kings have the same "Protection" stamp as in this picture http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/continental-race-king-mountain-bike-tire02.jpg
  12. Is that just on the Marathon or for the entire weekend? I know on the ultra like 50 guys out of the 200 starters finished...
  13. Finished in 5:39. Very tough day out there. Bike is a bit sick after yesterday
  14. Killed me last year after the mamba chased up my heart rate
  15. Well at least its not going to be 45 degrees on top of the mountain again...
  16. I learnt my lesson with Mamba last year. Heart rate went mad on Mamba and never came down for the rest of the day. Will try and pace it better on Saturday
  17. Contact them on twitter and facebook as well. They usually respond there
  18. I am B for the Marathon on Saturday and A for the Half on Sunday. See you guys there
  19. That first half kills your legs so the second half definitely does not feel like downhill!!! Hopefully it wont be as hot as last year
  20. You can do it by removing the valve core and squirting it through there. I take mine off as I want to clean out the old sealant... Lots of youtube videos to guide you on this one...
  21. Bombs will do it yes, but if you have a few holes it starts to dry up and it causes this. I have found these in my tyres without using CO2 bombs...
  22. I have never replaced mine since doing the conversion and I have not had any issues...
  23. I depends on the tyres you use and how many punctures you would have had sealed but I try and do it every 2 months. Once you take the tyre off you will know if the timing is right or not. If your sealant dries up, you get these little monsters in your tyres: http://fcdn.mtbr.com/attachments/29er-components/741700d1354456507-how-do-you-check-stans-sealant-stans.jpg
  24. You take your tyres off and clean out the old sealant. Go and buy some sealant at you LBS and put about 60-75ml in there while you remount the tyres. I usually go the BP close to my house and use their pump to get the tyres seated on the rim again. Some tubeless tyres you will be able to get seated with a floor pump and some elbow grease, but others you will need compressed air... Its a very easy job...
