  1. Thinking to road trip down from JHB. Flights are just way too expensive. If someone wants to join and split costs, let me know. Otherwise, if peeps are needing bikes down to CPT and will help subsidise my costs, also give me a shout - 0729472209
  2. This was an opportunity for CTCC organizers to really shine. I know it is in their fine print but realistically they could have apologized for the cancellation and perhaps compensated participants. If I chose to cancel on a race, I totally accept all losses and forfeit everything but as for a race not even starting, I cannot see why the event organizers cannot carry some of the burden? Either way....the CTCC has lost its appeal for me over the last several years. I am going to do 1 more to get 10 medal and then never again. Guys, why should we not boycott this race??? I would like to see the race to have an alternative start point (current one has been *** for a while now) as well as an alternative route for these types of emergencies (perhaps inland...scenery is just as good)...Im sure most cyclists also have vehicles so retorting shouldn't be such an issue...? There are much better and cheaper races on the calendar. Is boycotting a solution??
  3. Lots of okes wear trisuits....but running around with them feels to me like youre wearing a nappy....and mtb guys...well were supposed to be hard tough buggars right? Lots of people just wear normal running clothes and cycle with that too...a tri suit is really a little overkill for these races...but you can if you want to.

  5. Steal their wheel valves. At least 2. They will suffer. doesn't damage the vehicle but is a pain in the bum. Stickers is good idea. Gonna get a quote from a buddy quick.
  6. yoh! you need to be chuck norris to be able to turn the crank and to steer that monster
  7. At your prices, I will definitely support you!...Have never and will never support Action photo...purely based on the price issue.
  8. Argus special on mountain cabbage (tafelberg 'erbs) for the responsible club members so you guys can chilllllll...pm me! Its amazing how such a silly act of a few people can have such an impact on so many...I think these okes missed the plot about cycling....if you get road rage vibes when you're on a bike, its time to leave the sport.... And I totally agree on prosecuting these gangsters to the full extent of the law, and excluding them from competing in formal events for at least some time.
  9. +1 And proper hand signals...the guys up in gauteng seem to be better on this than the capies....jis makes me mal trying to figure out where most other cyclists in Cape Town are going and its scary to see so many people on suicide rides. I get the impression that lots of roadies adopt a taxi-driver mentality??? Granted, there are waaay too many bumps and potholes to point out...(maybe an opportunity for ANC to climb in...hahaha)...but seriously, please let people behind you know your intentions...its just the rules of the road. The motorists usually don't know what our signals mean anyway, but if we all do it the right way with the right signals, they will catch on...
  10. I hope this sums things up.... 1) Wrong forum 2) Look ahead to where you're riding to...then you will be able to identify potential hazards/obstructions in ample time and make calm adjustments to your path of travel 3) Your bike has brakes...they are not just for style points...use them 4) If you klap a pedestrian/runner, you will probably get more hurt falling off your bike and you will damage your bike...the pedestrian probably wont be injured....so rather give them space even if they are wrong... 5) So what if you are right and they are wrong....it doesn't actually matter all that much at the end of the day 6) There are a lot of idiots in the world today....if you go outside, you're probably going to encounter a whole bunch of them...so if you go outside, expect them to be there....if you anticipate their presence, you can act accordingly 7) Stop whining...nobody cares to listen and its lame bra! Peace!
  11. Gooi some polyfiller to fill the gap and finish off with sandpaper for baby-bottom-smooth finish On the other part...totally agree with the sizing issues...i think the Italians actually only cater for kids...bcos that's how big their clothes are...
  12. Forget about warranties...just insure...peace of mind
  13. Go back and re-look your requirements...why exactly do you need a stiffer carbon frame for 'the odd race'? Giant is really good value for money and good resale-but I am a little biased. I do think specialized are overpriced at the moment, but not poor quality at all. Same story with merida and 'dale. Scott also a good value for money brand at the moment. For your needs I would choose an aluminium frame with the best groupset+wheelset....a carbon frame can always come later(and they're not too pricey), but some of the ali frames are lighter than the carbon ones....also an aluminium frame is more resilient during transport...lastly...its a lekker ego boost to cruise passed the okes on their carbon frames during races...hahahaa
  14. For the okes who don't understand such a basic principle...this example should be easier to understand...would it be okay for your neighbour to walk through your property to get to their house just because it might be a shorter distance or otherwise more convenient...probably not...so if you use even a little stretch of the trail, you should pay. Maybe think of the fee as a fee to access the property rather than just the trails...and then it just so happens that that money goes toward maintaining the bike trails.
  15. @ agteros...im pretty sure thehubsa admins have their jobs because they know what they're doing....theres a bunch of research and planning that goes on behind the scenes, that's why it is how it is. Anyways to get back on topic...no excuses for littering...my opinion, OP only opened a mild case of name-and shame-whoopass on cc...no need to get upset or overly sensitive about it. If you litter, you're a chop...if the okes in your cycling gang are chops, then by association you're also chop...thats how it is...so cc guys, just give your mates a lekker klap for bringing the rest of you guys down...it will always be a minority that brings down the majority
  16. Insure your bike. When encountered, let the bastards take the bike and claim it from insurance...its why insurance is out there!!! Risking your life is not worth it. Don't get me wrong, if I had a 22 id probably want to do the same but you don't wanna be the person telling the story of how you accidentally shot your bike in the process of trying to shoot some secondhands.
  17. Mostly I find cyclelab quite good. "ill call you back" is usually an empty promise though, and a manager at the lynbridge branch sold me a campy cassette with a regular cassette remover tool last week....it only takes one fool to ruin a place. I find it better to ride with the guys first, find out who is clued up, and then only consult with them only...and usually the mechanics know more than the sales staff....but that's probably true for most lbs's
  18. Agreed! Doesn't look like boxing gloves are out yet. So the oke is a zipp and wants to die....let him. No lights is doff, and on the freeway is unacceptable...but its Cape Town right?....where isn't there a decent stretch of road that isn't freeway? From judging from the photos (because that's all we can judge from)... 1) in photo 2 it looks like the oke could have been keeping in that lane to avoid being squeezed off at the upcoming off-ramp. If you ride on the road, you'll probably know how *** and dangerous it is to be squeezed off 2) guy obviously moved over into shoulder when needed....so he was out of anyone's way 3) if the oke wa that close to the truck, well he is simply not in anyone's way unless you want to draft the truck in your car 4) what if there's an accident???....well, what if the sky falls down??....if you are practicing a safe following distance, you should be able to come to a stop before any obstacles in the road. 5) are there any decent alternative roads that aren't highway, aren't full of potholes, and won't go through any hoods where some zolkop bergie tries to steek you with his zamalek bottle? But at the end of the day motor pacing is lekker man, and if you know the roads and you can decently predict the truck's changes in acceleration/deceleration, why not.
  19. Can't see any problem in the picture either. OP, if you are a fellow cyclist, you have been awarded the douche award, congrats! As for the chirps about the riders weights, c'mon guys, that's really low and uncool. Please find more mature ways to amuse yourselves. I take my hat off to the guys who have the courage and ballas to ride a little right of the shoulder to protect mates on the outside.
  20. Loving the tire face-plant...10/10 for technique.
  21. HAHAHHAHAHAHA....sorry Garfield, looks like you got slammed by ArchedBackChinOut too. Sorry about the spending spree. That is just ridiculous. About the engineering side of things, I've got an uncle in Pinetown with an engineering business. He's got a bunch of machines and does all sorts of things, mostly with aluminium, but also with different steels etc. Maybe if you guys send me some ideas, or pics, and I can get in touch with him for estimated costs to manufacture. I assume for it to make sense, fairly large quantities will need to be made, but will get quotes for single orders so we can compare it to the bike- distribution-fat-cat's prices. Cheers.
  22. ......sounds like a porno HAHAHHAHAHA...just kidding................
  23. ok....makes sense....thanks for that
  24. I have the same helmet, I think mine is an older model though. So far haven't encountered the same problems. But the different replacement pads...i agree...its weird...no idea why they would do that.
  25. Is it just my imagination or are a lot of ads (not all) on the classifieds just epic failures... For one, some sellers extremely overvalue their items. Am I wrong to assume a bicycle drops in value by around 50% within a year of use? Also the descriptions are totally useless. Lets keep factual with specs...e.g. weight of a frameset in kgs, instead of comments like "super lightweight"...the funniest to me is when a seller describes a bike as "fast"....bikes are only as fast as they are pedalled by the rider by way...or am I mistaken? Please excuse the absence of links as I'm typing from my phone...but if you guys look around I'm sure you can plenty of silly ads...how about posting our favourite thehubsa classifieds failures for a laugh???
