  1. The same thing happened with Tour Durban on Sunday. Racetech timed the event last year with no hassles. This year Elite timing came on board and it's a total cock up. I personally know of 5 people whose names are missing. Everyone is asking "Why are the numbers down for this event??" Down from 3000 odd entries to 1000 odd. Same with Amashova. Bit of a coincidence that this decline co-incided with CSA forcing everyone to be licensed.... Hmmmmm.... Funriders (and I mean real funriders as in monthly weekend warriors) have decided not to do events anymore as they do not want to be licensed nor do they want to purchase a day license. CSA has ruined these events rather drastically. Veloce2010-05-05 01:13:57
  2. Hi Guys Does anybody know where I can buy American Classic MTB hubs from? CRC does not stock them and the local guys (Cape cycle systems) don't reply to their e-mails. Who is the local importer?? HELP PLEASE!!!!!
  3. On the spelling issue.... It's couch not coach. The only time I would take a pic of my bike on the coach is if my coach was Liz Hatch. Then again, it wouldn't be my bike on the coach..
  4. Slowbee, I nearly tore my hair out with the same problem and then discovered a nifty trick: Squeeze the sides of the actual link with your thumb and forefinger while applying horizontal pressure to slide them apart. If you try unlinking it with out actually squeezing the quicklink itself, the chain just jumps around and nothing happens.
  5. I will continue to support CWC!! We get such great service from you, R50 later and our goods are in Durban the next day, Fantastic!! Online shopping is the way to go, the rest snooze, they lose.
  6. Nipple caps.
  7. Yup TH industries makes the bearings for FSA etc. I bought a Giant headset the other day for my Anthem and it had the 2 TH Industries bearings and an FSA headset cover. Check the TH website, you can get part numbers for most makes of frames. Oh, you also need to know the angle of your crown race so that it matches the angle of the angular bearing you shove in your head-tube. Veloce2009-12-09 04:16:50
  8. You could always come over to my place and I'll introduce you to Grappa while we support the Azzuri. (World champions 4 times already) Veloce2009-11-19 02:14:08
  9. Damn that looks mighty fine!
  10. MTB'ers do it with their knobblies!!!!!!!!! I will be there with my full susser and knobblies.
  11. I was thinking about doing this ride, now that I've seen these photos my entry has already been paid for!!
  12. Karkloof has some great riding but if you want a view, do the ride up to Highmoor. Its about 12km from Glengarry (which is about 35km from Notties) so you can park your car there and ride up to the top. Its half dirt, half tar and is quite steep, but the views are worth it!!
  13. Do chicks dig it??
  14. For 123 odd rand a head, thats good value!! Now I'm hungry.
  15. I hope that included at least a 10% tip.
  16. they killed themselves laughing?even after the tenth time they told me? so i asked them why you can't smell moth balls? I give up - why can't you smell moth balls? 'Cos they don't have any' date=' silly! Naughty enough I'm sure to have had the boys rolling around splitting their sides. Oh, and if Lance is here in March, surely he'll maak a draai by the Argus Expo? It'll be the only chance I would get to see him, unless he plans to pull over at my porsie in Moz.[/quote'] No, you can't smell moth balls because their wings keep on tickling your nose.
  17. If you want to keep your FSA wing pro bars then you have to get an OS stem. Thats the norm anyway, trying to find a standard size stem is such a mission. They say that the OS handelbars are stiffer, thats why they've gone to that diameter.
  18. Its the only place I've seen an ou pull a 9mm out on a window washer.
  19. So I went out for a ride on Saturday afternoon as the weather was pretty crap in the morning and decided to brave the traffic rather than sit and be miserable at home wishing for better weather. Anyway, in my total of 5 incidents in 2 hours all were caused by male drivers trying to quickly zipp into the flow of traffic from an intersection and by doing so, cutting me off in the process. Middle fingers and abusive language were withheld as I am trying to do my bit for creating a "cyclists are actually good guys" image, so I just laughed the incidents off. Now, the area I rode in has plenty intersections, and as I do 2 laps of this circuit, I am continuously passing them. Whenever I see a car approach an intersection at around about the same time I will be going through it, I make a point of making eye contact with the driver. Every single time it was a lady driver, she patiently waited for me to pass to such a point that when I realised it was a lady driver, I just knew I wouldnt have to take evasive action through the intersection. Everytime I noticed a male driver, I instinctively got my hands ready at the brake levers. Now I do realise that some of these people in this area do not have fully developed brains and would try to zipp in front of me as I am clearly not a legitimate road user, apparantly, but for it to happen so often is just really frikken annoying. What is it with these dudes? Is it pure impatience or do they feel more masculine when trying to screw someone over? These are the people with the under-developed brains I am referring to. In a first world country cars actually voluntarily stop for you to cross the road or cross an intersection. The average IQ in these countries is far higher than South Africa...hmmmmm, see where I'm going... There were plenty of male drivers who did patiently wait, but it most certainly did feel that the ladies had a lot more patience to spare. LOL, I'm not saying women have a higher IQ, they just seem to exercise patience a bit more effectively than men. Cool, rant over.
