  1. Get yourself a decent pull-up bar and start doing bodyweight exercises.
  2. Piece of advice. Don't put to much pressure on your aspiring sub-junior youngster. Let him/her have fun and enjoy cycling. Don't let it become work before he/she is grown up otherwise he/she will start hating the sport and stop doing it. If he/she grows up and want to take it to the next level, then get a coach.
  3. Guilty as charged PDV ensured for other type of entertainment. Especially during his interviews. You got to love the man, he is a national icon now. He featured in many radio programs and in Robbie Wessels songs!
  4. Honestly I have no idea.
  5. Like I said. He might have influence over other selectors but then the OP must have some serious evidence to back up his allegations. It could have legal implications if he doesn't. One other thing. The selection panel does not select itself as far as I know. I mean its not like I can go and say: Hey I'm one of 3 selectors for the national team, who wants to join me. Why was he selected in the first place if other coaches did not have faith in him and his credibility? As for Meyer and his blue tinted glasses........Just look at the Boks play. The man has some skills!
  6. Understandable. I also understand that a team consist of more than one specialist (Not sure if it works like this on junior level). Thus you will need a good climber, a good sprinter, a good time trialist and good domestiques. But surely these guys will get selected on a specific date and the best ones will be selected. Sure if the team consist of just Dr.J's riders then surely that will raise suspicion and if that is the case I'm sure that there will be an uproar and a investigation to follow. Nutrition wise: It's a national team, thus I'm sure that the individual riders will still be using their sponsors' nutrition. As far as I know there is no advertising for sponsors in a national team because the team consist of riders from different teams. Doping/Testing wise: If it's a national team then surely it will be the UCI that does the testing and not the national body thus Dr.J can't really influence their decision on whom to test and when.
  7. If all three of them had to select the Bok team there won't be such an issue. There might be a moerse fight but they will still select a team that is of every franchise. The point I am making is that there is not just one selector selecting a team, there is a panel, and a panel of selectors are used for this reason exactly namely to ensure that the best team gets selected and that every athlete is treated equally and get selected on his/her performance. This applies to all sports. And back to your comment. I think if all provincial coaches are used to select the Bok team it will still be better than having some of the SARU selectors that only want to choose players for development purposes instead of selecting on performance.
  8. Yes. Go to Sa Seeding, look under "for participants", then select "Series Standings" and change the event to "Trailseeker"
  9. Have you got a sizing chart for your range?
  10. Wait a sec. Maybe I'm missing it. How is there conflict of interest? So the man is a coach as well as a selector: He coaches a rider but the rider gets selected on his performance (not the coaches' performance) by a selection panel that consist of more than one selector. Thus if the riders out performs his competition you are saying that the rider stands a good chance of not being selected because he is with the wrong coach. If that is correct that means that the selector had to convince the rest of the selectors that the rider is not good enough even though he/she out performed everyone.............. If that is the case I hope you have some serious facts to back it up. So the man is on a drug free board and owns a nutritional company: How is that conflict of interests? Drug free is an INTERNATIONAL body and everyone has to comply to their standard, thus there is no way he can pass something as legal if its banned by the international body? And if you say that he/she will not get selected because he/she did not use his product then that still means the selector had to influence the rest of the selectors.
  11. Welcome to TheHub Laundromat. Feel free to wash your dirty laundry here. Ps. If your youngster is so good and is worthy of selection he/she will be selected. There are more than one selector. If you are implying that your youngster wont get selected because there is a coach on one of the selection panels then you are implying that the rest are also corrupt.
  12. I dont think you can just have the guy arrested for suspecting that he has a stolen bike. You can ask the police to check the serial numbers to see if it is indeed a stolen bike but then again not many people report the serial numbers of their stolen bikes to the police. Maybe the previous owner gave the bike to the guy and now you want to have him arrested because you suspect that its stolen............ If you want to have this guy arrested because you suspect that the bike is stolen then we must have Slowbee arrested for buying suspected stolen goods.
  13. Great minds think alike. Hahaha Once caught our garden engineer on my race machine. When confronted he said no I just went to the shop for cigarettes.
  14. Maybe he borrowed his boss's Look and now sold it.
  15. Very sad news. Especially when a child loses a parent. condolences to the family.
  16. Look. I love my fork and if I had to replace it or change to a different wheel size bike I would probably buy another brain fork but I must also say that it does give you a harsher ride. I will also add that I rode my brothers bike which has a sid fork with remote lockout and on his bike I would rather leave the fork unlocked even on the uphills. You have to constantly remind yourself to unlock the fork thus I feel its not worth it. You gain more traction anyway by leaving it unlocked. I would rather say look at the air pressure you are running in your fork (If its a air fork) and play around with that to perhaps firm up the suspension and see how it influences your ride. You will however lose comfort and traction and gain a bit of power.
  17. Mine locks out automatically and compress when things get bumpy. Gotta love these brain forks Nino is so far behind the times
  18. I'm still furious about this. These people have no respect for life anymore. Can you perhaps give us some more detail on where exactly this happened? I also cycle in that area sometimes (If the article is correct). Ps. Best wishes to your sister. Hope she heals up soon.
  19. Serves him right for not riding tubeless
  20. I am looking at buying a set of Formula R1. I currently have Avid on my bike and I have had two complete brake failures this year. One happened on Sabie (some major downhills (Front and rear failure) and the other one over this weekend's trailseeker at VG (just after the first decent. Had to walk the rest (Front only)) The Avids are just to inconsistent for me. Sometimes they work great and 5km later they fade. I have tried changing the pads and bled them but no change. Think its time to change.
  21. 1326m ascent Eina! Better pack my climbing legs!
  22. Get that move wrong and........................... . Never mind, plenty spectators to ensure a soft landing.
