  1. And there is plenty of bush for them to disappear into. Cant the police organize a sting operation in that squatter camp. It's not that big YET (according to Google maps). In my dreams I guess
  2. Very bad. The previous guy got stabbed. Now it seems they might have a firearm as well.
  3. AGAIN!!! Same place as yesterday's incident! Dammm, glad you're ok!
  4. I am going to try this. Starting in WW is not gona be fun, and if its going to be a hot day I might just skip the ride if I have to start at 10:15. At least I have a C seeding according to SA Seeding for the marathon events so I hope they accept it.
  5. Bad news. Cycled there before but that squatter camp has been known to cause trouble for quite some time now so I avoid the area. Hope the cyclist is ok. These thugs have no respect for life anymore.
  6. PING Admin!!! Mackie does not need another GoPro.
  7. I have Mavic SLR on my MTB and also had the same problem. I now service them regularly. I have replaced a cracked freebody previously and have another cracked one now and have vibrations again. Also check the bearings. I have now replaced my hub bearings with bearings from Bearing Man and will give it a go to see if its better than the ones the LBS use.
  8. Also want to try some XCO next year. Just to do something different.
  9. Entered. Looking forward to ending the series on a high.........avg!
  10. You guys pay all that money to try and finish the race under 3h? Think I'll take it slow and look at them cheer leaders along the way. Ps. did a quick 60km road race on my MTB on Saturday and the last 5km was pure torture. My @rse was so sore yesterday that I could not ride.........Why did I enter the 94.7! Riding 70km at Van Gaalens is less torture. Or maybe I must get myself a wider saddle with the hole in the middle for my tjommie.
  11. Awesome stuff !!! The young man's got bigger B@lls than me
  12. 10k each it seems
  13. LoL. I'm all alone all the way at the bottom. At least there will be no bunches that can catch our/my bunch. I suppose they did not use SA Seeding to determine the seeding
  14. He is in A. Will probably be finished by the time I start. Gonna make him cycle twice and pull me up the hills.
  15. 10:15 start for me then. Hope it's a very cloudy day!
  16. Whahahaha. I'm in WW Can anyone beat that?
  17. Be diplomatic and give her the choice. If it's not the bedroom she can choose if she wants it in the kitchen or living room
  18. I rode at Rosemary hill the other day and caught up to a dad riding with his daughter and little boy in the forest section. As I was doing interval training I was riding quite fast and caught up quickly. They saw me coming and the little girl (also about age 10) stopped and pulled off the single track. As I passed her I thanked her and she then shouted at her dad and younger brother "TRACK". They were about 25m ahead of her at that stage. I just wonder where these kids learn this? Now if a dad refers to his child as a future sa champ I cant help but wonder if they dont teach their children to use the term to get people out the way. Please dont understand me wrong, I think it's wrong for people to swear at children or even use foul language around them but I will find it a bit disrespectful if a child shouts "Track" at me. If I am on a single track and I catch up to someone or someone catches up to me I will only give way when there is space for me to do so and when it is safe. I don't like to ask for track but will warn you that I'm passing left or right. I first heard the word "Track" on provincial level racing and it was only used by the pro riders. I never heard anyone use it in other races. But even the pro's did not always use it, they had such skill that they were past you before you even know they were coming. I also rode behind a high school boy in a race, he passed me in the single track after I gave way. He later started shouting at ladies to give way. There was nowhere for them to go and they got so nervous that they almost fell. I got fed up with his verbal abuse and told him that they only have to give way where there is space for them to do so safely. These days people think you have to get out the way if they shout at you............does not work like that. There is plenty of space in a race to pass people, and if you are really as good as you think you are then you will find a way past.
  19. Learn to slip stream. Makes riding a mtb on tar a whole lot easier
  20. Faaark! I knew those two were up to no good!
  21. We stopped next to a VW Polo metallic silver colour with a hook-on bike rack on the back but no bikes. One of the two inside wore a bicycle shirt (White) as well as a helmet (also white if I remember correct). The car had mag wheels with lowish profile tires and dark tinted windows. They looked VERY suspicious and they parked the car in such a way that they could look at the whole parking area (They reversed the car into the parking bay). They sat there in the car for about 20-30min then started the car and moved to another spot and I did not see them again. I told my father that they look fishy, I should have taken a picture. Ask your mate's wife if she perhaps recognised a similar vehicle close to their vehicle. I will definitely recognise this car when I see it again.
  22. There should be no reason for organisers to run out of water. All waterpoints on VG was close to a road. They can get one person with a bakkie and a watertank to service the waterpoints and make sure they always have at least some water. I'm sure the farmers in the area wont mind if they fill up the tank with fresh water if they ask them thus they wont even need to drive very far.
  23. I think thats pretty cool. If I buy one I can do my hill training IN the office's fire escape staircase during lunch hour.
  24. Looks like a steel frame as well thus your carbon 29er is now obsolete
  25. True, If you only going to use it once go for the sample sachets. I bought a tube because I strip and clean my bike regularly and then reapply paste on all the striped parts. (Handle bar to stem, Seatpost to frame). It helps because then I dont have to over tighten the bolts and cause possible damage to carbon parts.
