  1. Probably saw someone who wanted to take a picture of him riding in the road to name and shame him on the hub.
  2. I love technical riding but I did struggle the weekend. But I blame myself for that because I did not practice the type of riding we had over the weekend. If we have such routes we must train to ride them. We must keep on evolving our sport otherwise we will fall behind the European countries and our local riders won't be able to compete with their standard of riders. Isn't that one of the reasons one of our local pro's want to leave the country to further his career oversees? Organisers cater for those with less skill in the shorter distance, thus if you want to better yourself feel free to join the longer more technical marathon races.
  3. Hahahaha. Ok ok, but that is more an exception than a norm. Look some of them are very good people. With that I can't argue, and some don't have any other choice but the point I am trying to make is that we have to stand up for the small things first. We must enforce the small laws first for if we don't the small crimes spill over into bigger ones which then creates a snowball effect. And this applies to us all. Stopping dead at a stop street, not speeding, bribing cops, copying music, driving with you fog lights on at night when there is no fog etc etc etc. These seem like small crimes but if you commit them what's the difference between you and any other criminal? That criminal also started doing crime on a small scale and got away with it, he then tried something bigger and got away with it and soon its armed robbery which can turn to murder. I am no angel myself but I do remind myself constantly if I do something wrong and I do try and stand up for what is right for if we don't we might as well throw the country to the dogs.
  4. Oh but I can...............The organisers did not supply me with a chocolate in my goodie bag
  5. Speaking of children next to the route. Did that group of girls swear at any of you? When I was riding towards them they started shouting: "Chocolate Chocolate" and as I pased them (did not give them a chocolate) they shouted "F@*k you"
  6. I'm sorry but I think your answer is ridiculous. Homeless/poor/unemployed people = desperate hungry people which means they will do anything to fill their stomach. Your cellphone, wallet, bike might mean their next meal. Therefore if you have a whole lot of hungry people grouped together you have a small army which can be very dangerous. Have you seen hungry people fight over food in poor countries. They will kill if they have to. Therefore its not necessarily safety in numbers. Unfortunately the little money they do make does not mean that they spend it on food. A lot of it goes toward liquor and drugs which cause a whole lot of other problems for residents. Yes I do sometimes feel sorry for these people but if you are going to allow illegal activities you are not helping the country out of its problems. Also, some of these people do make quite a bit of money but its convenient to stay in places close to work or in a area where they don't have to pay for something and that is why they live there.
  7. What are you saying exactly? Tackle the root of the problem.... Should we now go and provide proper housing for these people? Aren't we already doing that by paying our taxes and the government builds them houses. These people are building temporary structures in a area which they should not. They are unsightly, dangerous and reduce the value of the property around it. They mess all over the place make fires which cause pollution which further reduce the value of property around it. Then there is crime....... even if its petty crime it still stays crime. But crime escalates if its not tackled properly and soon you will have murders being committed and rape etc. Do you live next to the spruit?
  8. What an awesome race! I k@*4d off seriously but this was a serious wakeup call! Need to work on my technical skills! My front brake packed up after the concrete strip decent which made the rest of the decents a bit scary. Jou Bliksem didn't disappoint. Saved my matches as Rouxtjie suggested but obviously didn't keep enough. Was so tired at the top that I BLIKSEMed off twice within 10m. Second fall broke my KeepMySenseOffHumor thingy and I thought off 10 other possible names they could have given Jou Bliksem. Think the seeding was great. Loved riding in C batch. At one stage thought I was on the wrong route because saw no one in front of me. Felt sorry for the later batches because of the heat. I measured 35deg on the climb to the Greek Church. Told myself that I will never again ride the long route at VG but thinking back now, I have a score to settle. I rate this as one of my top 3 most difficult races this year. Sabie was difficult but at least everything was ridable. Some of these accents were just one to much for me.
  9. R350 licence is if you want to race in the elite bunch on road races and with the R75 licence you will be able to race in the open seeded cat. Does not help to have a R350 licence in MTB as far as I know. There they only work on your seeding
  10. If its 30+ deg when I get there I might just do it on purpose
  11. Hahaha. No ways! I can work out my time by taking the winning time and add an hour IF the route is flat and a hour and half+ IF the route has more than 1000m climbing
  12. That if fairly quick, especially If I listen to the comments about the terrain. Will be my first VG. Looking forward!
  13. What was the winning time for the 70km last year? +-
  14. Is like the hub has become a playground for kids bitching, moaning throwing tantrums if they don't get their way. You lost out on a deal. No harm done to you but now you go and question someone integrity possibly causing them harm.
  15. Maybe pop into one of the Spez shops. They might have something else that will fit and might be much cheaper as well.
  16. School boy batch...........Good luck, those laaities are fast.
  17. Seems you have the correct one : Shimano M762 XT custom for Specialized
  18. It shows the BB you need on their archive http://www.specialized.com/ie/gb/bikes/archive/2008/epic/epicexpert#specs
  19. Best picture I have seen on a hub ad. If you try and sell your bike and take a picture of it, Try and keep yourself out of the picture. Sorry if this is any of you but had to share.
  20. Just make sure he does the substitution today. I received a email from Advendurance last week that states no substitutions on Friday at Lynnwood. But maybe the email is wrong. Best phone and make sure
  21. My boss had "Jump" from Van Halen as his ringtone last year.......After 2 months it felt like I "might as well jump" off the roof! That ringtone drove me nuts after a while.
  22. Can that route be ridden any time or is it on private land?
  23. Then there is van Gaalens. Trailseeker at VG this weekend.
  24. Breedtsnek http://www.alloutmtb...-trail-hekpoort Think this is the tough one.
  25. There is a entry for sale now https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/61815-nissan-trailseeker-3-van-gaalen-40km-entry/ 40km though
