  1. nope, wish i could but it clashes with other races we entered.
  2. the thing i concluded out of all these doper stories is that cycling is actually bad for your health, "pros" who do this whole bicycle riding thing properly unlike me a useless weekend warrior are the most at risk and suffer the most. just warning you guys maybe consider some other safer sport.
  3. me. it was a very nice race, very well organized great weather and a massive field with lekker atmosphere. for me the one massive climb was very steep and tough and equally difficult i found the descent in the last 3km because its so steep.
  4. so who else is doing dischem 21km this sunday?
  5. its 10 speed, it came new with the bike which i bought brand new about 4 years ago. is it something i can do myself? or who do i send it to?
  6. need some help please have campagnolo veloce groupset recently my left hand side shifter has a terrible rattling noise that drives me crazy, it still shifts and brakes perfectly, i notice that if i grip the sides tightly when its making the rattling noise it stop but as soon as i let go it starts immediately. any advise for me
  7. plenty of qualifiers to choose from so dont stress, even the JC 21km might be a bad idea i think since you havnt been running for so long, rather take this time to make sure you recover well from your cough, and start slowly from january. maybe keep up the core and strength work till january.
  8. hey thats exactly what happens to my rear casette during intervals
  9. hey guys so who did tough one yesterday? was my first had no idea it as so difficult, you just climb and climb and climb, with one or two very sharp decents which were very steep, nevertheless had so much fun suffering in the race and finished in 2:56 which im really happy about as i havnt trained much at all, best thing is i got two medals for completing both 94.7 and tough one, and i got a sub 6hour combined time next il try for a 5.45 combined time over the two events. will definately be back for this race.
  10. this is exactly what riaz who rode with i team at the race decided we would do, choose one day per month and make that the suikerbos day. circus would be great place to meet you would get exactly 86km, or even better we start maybe at panorama or somewhere further which will be closer for the jhb guys. lets agree on a specific weekend every month at least two of us definately on for this.
  11. sounds like a plan to me, and after that we can start the I Team triathlon group
  12. wow thats excellent he has the go to match the show
  13. i did a 3:02:47 i blame the cable tie and yellow sticker for not going sub 3, we need an aero identification solution going forward.........just joking
  14. so what was evans time for 94.7?
  15. with reference to running busses, you have a bus driver who focuses only in getting to the end in the agreed time he is experianced and knows the course, so he knows when to go hard and when to recover he doesnt take into consideration the fitness levels of the participants and they certainly dont wait for anyone during the run.
  16. look we lost our influential captain the day before our big game, in any sport this would create panic, confusion and unsettle the team. can we all blame tombeej rather for the i team performance
  17. a great initiative it was, but not everything went according to plan, i think a big race like this makes it very difficult to accomplish, but this thing has huge potential to work we gave it a good shot and most of us got PBs, we got split up before heartbreak hill and didnt know where the rest of the group was, someone said they infront and another said they behind us which is where most were, so i couple of us rode very fast from there on to catch the guys we thought were infront, we worked really well during that time sharing the work load, eventually even our small group broke up just before the end of the M1, i had fantastic race and day out, was very happy to meet so many of you guys, will definately be up to doing this again at any other race and try to help other achieve their best times possible, the biggest difficulty is starting as group and regrouping in the midst of so many other riders, also we need to have someone controlling from behind with a whistle or something because guys infront dont know whats going on at the back.i beat my previous PB by 10 minutes so thanks to everyone who helped. again nice meeting all you guys.
  18. for me climbing is..well climbing, slow and everyone goes up at different speeds, we'l be as fast going uphill as our weakest riders so wind is not so critical, however that tailwind all along the first 40km esp the m1 will really help us get some good speed as a group and maybe give us some time in the bank, also the second half is very much in built up areas untill malibongwe which should provide some shelter from the wind. from malibongwe our race will really start. hope you feel better captain tombeej
  19. its not impossible for us to bring in the whole group sub3 but i think we all should be honest on the day and pull ourselves out of the group during the race if the pace is just way too fast for us. im sure even then with the help recieved to that point we would still do a good time or PB
  20. any tips on what to do this week regarding race preparation, training, nutrition etc.
  21. more big boys pulling in i see....we gonna end up doing a sub 2:30 by mistake
  22. the hardest thing to come out of this will be choosing only 9 riders to go do the tour de france next year............i mean we are going to make to make this a professional team after 94.7 right?
  23. ja should be plenty time, i intend doing two laps
  24. im not a strong cyclist at all, last year i did a double lapper of the race, first lap 3:12 went out way too hard and was blown already by the time i got off the m1, rode 70% of the race alone or in front of whatever group i could form and yet still manged to do the section from top of witkoppen to the end in 43.59 trust me i was dead by then really had nothing left, so i reckon riding a bunch from start and having a bunch in that last segment is very doable in +-40min. second lap was alone entire way and did that same section in 56:12 this with 160km already in the legs. guys we can do this if we ride smart and work together. the segment gerald made on strava is 947 20Km to go.
