  1. i did a 3:02:47 i blame the cable tie and yellow sticker for not going sub 3, we need an aero identification solution going forward.........just joking
  2. so what was evans time for 94.7?
  3. with reference to running busses, you have a bus driver who focuses only in getting to the end in the agreed time he is experianced and knows the course, so he knows when to go hard and when to recover he doesnt take into consideration the fitness levels of the participants and they certainly dont wait for anyone during the run.
  4. look we lost our influential captain the day before our big game, in any sport this would create panic, confusion and unsettle the team. can we all blame tombeej rather for the i team performance
  5. a great initiative it was, but not everything went according to plan, i think a big race like this makes it very difficult to accomplish, but this thing has huge potential to work we gave it a good shot and most of us got PBs, we got split up before heartbreak hill and didnt know where the rest of the group was, someone said they infront and another said they behind us which is where most were, so i couple of us rode very fast from there on to catch the guys we thought were infront, we worked really well during that time sharing the work load, eventually even our small group broke up just before the end of the M1, i had fantastic race and day out, was very happy to meet so many of you guys, will definately be up to doing this again at any other race and try to help other achieve their best times possible, the biggest difficulty is starting as group and regrouping in the midst of so many other riders, also we need to have someone controlling from behind with a whistle or something because guys infront dont know whats going on at the back.i beat my previous PB by 10 minutes so thanks to everyone who helped. again nice meeting all you guys.
  6. for me climbing is..well climbing, slow and everyone goes up at different speeds, we'l be as fast going uphill as our weakest riders so wind is not so critical, however that tailwind all along the first 40km esp the m1 will really help us get some good speed as a group and maybe give us some time in the bank, also the second half is very much in built up areas untill malibongwe which should provide some shelter from the wind. from malibongwe our race will really start. hope you feel better captain tombeej
  7. its not impossible for us to bring in the whole group sub3 but i think we all should be honest on the day and pull ourselves out of the group during the race if the pace is just way too fast for us. im sure even then with the help recieved to that point we would still do a good time or PB
  8. any tips on what to do this week regarding race preparation, training, nutrition etc.
  9. more big boys pulling in i see....we gonna end up doing a sub 2:30 by mistake
  10. the hardest thing to come out of this will be choosing only 9 riders to go do the tour de france next year............i mean we are going to make to make this a professional team after 94.7 right?
  11. ja should be plenty time, i intend doing two laps
  12. im not a strong cyclist at all, last year i did a double lapper of the race, first lap 3:12 went out way too hard and was blown already by the time i got off the m1, rode 70% of the race alone or in front of whatever group i could form and yet still manged to do the section from top of witkoppen to the end in 43.59 trust me i was dead by then really had nothing left, so i reckon riding a bunch from start and having a bunch in that last segment is very doable in +-40min. second lap was alone entire way and did that same section in 56:12 this with 160km already in the legs. guys we can do this if we ride smart and work together. the segment gerald made on strava is 947 20Km to go.
  13. the biggest challenge for me is the pacing of the race in general by that i mean over the entire distance, what pace do we start with do you factor in fatigue at the end and make up time in the start, what pace to ride the various hills, are there sections where we will recover, the experienced guys will have alot of controlling and talking to do in the race to keep us in check
  14. ja thats true about only 11 people going sub 3 but i doubt all 11 were working together, so we stand a very good chance then of doing sub 3 since we planning from the start to all work together
  15. at this rate i reckon wel win this race outright, hey whose our designated sprinter?
  16. ja something seriously wrong with that time my best half was 1:34 at johnson crane half this year, my life goal is to try and break 1:30 in a half which il try at johnson crane next year.
  17. going for my 3rd, goal this year is sub 10 im not fast and wont manage as much mileage as most of you guys, will do the slowmag ultra and one other marathon race but the rest is just long sunday runs on my own about 30km, with a long cycle on a saturday.
  18. strider, and then take him to the events they have, he'l love it, the skills and confidence they learn on those bmx tracks is amazing to watch.
  19. Alone, on history channel is awesome,
  20. I feel mtn are going to the front from too far out and then sit with no riders left to take him to the line, he clearly is in great form and with a proper lead out train he can do even better but they leave him with too much to do too far out . he should position himself off another team as the other riders sometimes do.
  21. I love doing this same stunt to girls except I don't use a bike and I only use my hands
  22. well there goes my theory, sorry everyone I thought I solved our problem, thanks for the explanation.
  23. so i was thinking.....for Eskom to reduce the load on the grid they load shed certain areas for 4 hours at a time, but if they turned the lights off for the whole country, wouldn't they make up the same amount in much less time
  24. ja , but maybe team time trial, riders with same bikes automatically become a team, or sort them out out according to weight, age, area, brand of shoes wheels kit stem.....possibilities are endless!
