  2. So after my cycling career ended in 2009 that lasted eight years, my mindset was the reason it ended. I will be on my bike again this afternoon for the first time with a positive riding mindset. Taking it as it comes and enjoying the sport for once My rant is for all you out there taking it too serious, if you stop having fun its only a matter of time before it will be over for you too!

  5. That means I was correct and that you need a uninterrupted housing for your gear cable which will solve the problem as it will inhibit any suspension movement to go over to your gear cable tensioning which causes shifting on bumps, again see my first post. This is the problem with many new dual mtb's.. Good luck, this would also be my last post on the subject. Just for interest which frame do you have (brand name)? To test this shift your rear so the chain is around the middle on the cassette lean over the bike compress the shock downwards and see how the derailleur moves across the cassette. You will have a huge fight with the distributor over this as it will cost them A-LOT to get all the bikes fixed they sold. In the end you will most probably be back doing the full cable housing from shifter to derailleur. I'm waiting for my six pack...
  6. See my original solution, send me a 6pack beer when you come right!
  7. I've been in this industry around 15years and worked for some world class riders/ teams as mechanic so I'm qualified to shoot through closed toilet doors If it is a closed cable system on the bike then it could be quite a few other things- loose freebody/cassette, bent derailleur hanger( but I don't think so as this will be permanent problem), shifter internals damaged, derailleur wheels, very F**d casset, frayed cable, ferules not positioned correctly in frame and shifter. The derailleur could be set to far away from the cassette and so the list grows. But I'd rather shoot through the toilet door as this is a common problem on dual suspensions.
  8. A worn cassette will only make the chain slip over one gear not change to another.
  9. I don't see a clutch derailleur solving the problem it only controls your chain slack better. This is cable tension related.
  10. Best way to solve this problem is run a uninterrupted gear cable housing from your shifters to the dérailleurs, this would mean opening frame ferules with a drill to fit the housing through. The problem on many dual suspensions that was clearly not thought through. As your suspension moves the places where gear cable runs open (without housing) is where the problem lies as it adjusts with your suspension movement. Just let the distributor know of your intention to do this as it may void the warranty but it is the only real solution.
  11. Is it a dual suspension bike?
  12. Just saw this, he was a friend and x -team mate of mine. Very sad and unreal!
  13. Wannabe this method would work as the length of the extracting tool should be long enough to get in there.
  14. Take a electrical drill with a small steel drill bit, drill small hole into the middle of the stuck screw. Then take a screw extractor and slowly turn it into the tiny drilled hole until it grips nicely. From there its easy as it will self extract. The extracting tools needed for this wouldn't cost you more than R100 from a hardware shop.
  15. Rather pedal faster, in a lighter gear. Power comes with speed as you train.. Injuries come with pedaling at a high force and undeveloped muscles.
  16. Selling this bike brand new for R27000. PM me if interested.
  17. PM or call me if you want a service at R350! Have worked for numerous pro's inc. Bart Brentjens. Don't have a retail shop with overheads to pay. 082 475 9540
  18. And its not exactly as if corporate sponsorships are streaming into road cycling. Sort of makes me feel I did the right thing quiting the pro riding, money was not worth it either.
  19. Its supposed to be like that. I'm not sure about the theory behind it.
  20. Still 50/50. Numbers are doing the talking.
  21. So what do you guys think is bigger at the moment Argus/ Lance?
