  1. Northcliff Cycles have some on their website.
  2. Was also dive bombed on Saturday - once on the way up the river trail and twice on the way down. Felt like a chicken landed on my helmet. On the way down, I saw them after they hit me, two large grey/black birds.
  3. Thanks for the advice. Will do!
  4. I have recently immigrated to the Cape from Joburg. Staying in Durbanville and see some cyclists riding along the green belt that runs through the area (R302, Lubbe Street, M15 I think). The locals probably have a name for it but only been here a few days so not sure. I would like to ride it in the afternoons after work. Is it safe to ride alone? Any group rides that happen? Thanks!
  5. Out at Howick / Karkloof the other day exploring the trails. It was real hot. Came across a trail with a name board 'Puff adder trail'. Looked cool so headed off over the rocks. Few meters down the trail my imagination got the better of me. Thinking there must have been a reason what they called it that. Turned around and headed back but every piece of bark, stick or log thereafter looked dodge.
  6. Personally, I am not sure that I would enjoy the company of a bunch of girls for 3 days. I like having guys around (and they provide eye candy)... Then also some of these ladies are tough ladies. Not sure if it is aimed at the novice rider best you mind your cycling manners around some of these girls.
  7. The permanent underpass under Linden Road is starting to take shape and for that I am truly grateful. Seems like some serious engineering has gone into this. Thanks Hollard / JUMA.
  8. I wish wish wish......
  9. Always wanted legs like Kevin's - proper!
  10. Sutherland recently. SALT Telescopes in the background (next post, still getting the hang of this).
  11. I did the event at B'sorah yestetrday. So much of fun! Adds a new dimension to riding your mountain bike. Don't underestimate finding routes to points, not as easy as it would seem though. The trails at B'sorah are suitably challenging as well.
  12. Not cool dude. Sorry to hear! Will miss seeing on our afternoon rides. Heal up soon ok! M
  13. Love my Scott too. Got my new Contessa a week before W2W last year and enjoyed trouble free cycling ever since.
  14. Thanks for the info. Always wanted to give the trails a try, heard Cascades is awesome too. Also with the racing on Saturday thought it be a bit busy. We are doing the marathon on Sunday only. Will check it out. Don't get down there too often so trying to make the most of the trip.
  15. Awesome - thanks very much! Hope the weather plays nice.
  16. Heading down to KZN for Karkloof this weekend and thought we may pop in at Cascades. Is it open to the public at the moment, anyone know?
  17. Heard a rumor that kitchen gloves (those plastic ones from PnP) work a treat under normal gloves as cold / wet insulation.
  18. The Spruit fairy has put a wooden bridge at that dodgy section at the Rustenberg Road underpass! As for the rest, pretty bleak I'm afraid.
  19. While on Spruit matters, just a heads up on the movement of a tree (who would have guessed)! If you come along the top tree line at Emmerentia - by Marks Park, take a short left at the end. The tree as you come around the corner (always was a bit of a dodgy tree) has moved and is leaning severely. It is unlikely that you will make it through between the stump and the tree without a dismount. A route has been opened to the right of the stump but just take care!
  20. Whats the issue with guys registering on Strava as female yet clearly a male (verified by checking on the SAS site where he is classified male Vet). Cant be a mistake, would think you would realize something is wrong when you are getting QUEEN of the mountain etc.
  21. Similar thing happened to us on Spruit ride the other day (no cars or road though). Was a night ride, came up to a group of pedestrians (5 or 6 guys) walking along the path. They were walking in single file and as we approached they moved out of the way except the last dude who pretended to trip and fell over on purpose with his leg on the path pretending to be in pain. I was prepared so was able to move out onto the grass but the situation could have ended badly.
