  1. You started!! then I'll finish it
  2. This list from cheap to rape you rates? Thanx will have a look
  3. Hey I'm buying a new Mtb - +- 17K bike. This is SA, things get stolen, people bump into you from behind and well, its cycling, you sometimes fall and not only break yourself but the bike aswell. Do you guys recon one must insure a bike like this? I will speak to some quallified guys aswell, just want to hear your thoughts on this one. Cheers
  4. Dude - I had a GT up till now - great bike, but the new models are way over my price range. Good thing now is that with the marida - I can have 2 waterbottels Cheers man
  5. had a look at the bike again today. I'm taking it and I'm very happy!! After a lot of research I think I found a light decent bike for a roadie to go off road. Thanx for the comments and help you guys!
  6. cool ppl - enough now
  7. Talking *** after races -- mmm, can remember something like this!
  8. Hey Need some advice on what to put on to a rash. Its on the part where ones leg can no longer be called a leg... Use Fisan paste when cycling, and no problems but don't know waht happend but now its no good. Sore and burns as hell if I shower.. Might be a bit OVER sharing but someone might help. Don't feel like going to the doctor - they ask way to much. A pharmacy will do just fine.
  9. Dis nogal `n moerse random topic, interesting...
  10. agree with you. MTB event are not expensive to organize and run, unlike road events. Would pay much more for a road event. R80-R100 is enough for a MTB event, can also be much cheaper I guess. Better to hold a mtb race with lets say a Festival or some other attraction then there is no reason for the MTB race to be that expensive. PPL want to come out and have fun/do some serious racing and then chill at the finish at some guesthouse/restaurant or festival tent to make te most of the day. NO need to overcharge ppl and then ineffect make them regret they even came - next year they wont be back
  11. bump myself up to no1 on the active menu Sorry but need some more input....
  12. thank you guys. I like the frame and the with all the shopping arround that is the price a bit up sometimes but not very cheaper. My lbs is also alot closer to home so to save lets say 200 on the deal is not considerd worth it. Thanx noche for the info on you buy. Have a great time on your bike.
  13. No, thanx for the info man, just saying. I don't like shopping arround and if I buy from this LBS I know that I will get service with him. He has been really good to me and will alway help out. Would pay more to buy new from a shop, than to buy 2nd hand and sit with the problems afterwards. Remember most people sell because there is something bothering them. not a lot just sell to upgrade
  14. Why not (reasons) - what would you buy then? Price fixing or not I personally dont think I could bring myself to fork out 16k for an XT specced ally hardtail. Dont get me wrong, I think this is a very sensible machine and will serve you well. I havent shopped for bikes for a while but I would think that 12-13k would be a bit more appropriate. Might be wrong but thats my opinion. Merida is a great bike but if I was faced with saving 3k to get a Raleigh instead I would go Raleigh. I do ride a top end full sus and paid the same price for it used a year ago. Full XTR. What Raleigh would you buy with Full XT ? All the new bikes are so crappy speced - it crazy.
  15. Dont want Dual - dont like it. This bike is brand new, well speced full XT and very nice shock. Had a second hand bike now for 2 years - want to upgrade.
  16. Why not (reasons) - what would you buy then?
  17. Its R16K bike - 08 model. Have no Idea what the "bell" is, was on the website
  18. I want to upgrade and get something Mid-top range but cant justify a carbon frame because I'm a roadie, so I'm willing to spend much more on a road bike. Mtb is for cross training/having fun and racing in the winter

  21. AM said that "they" (wholesales and retailers) had a meeting to discuss, issues in the industry and talk about discount and prices ect. He then said that there is no cartel and no mission to fix prices. He also said to pick any 10 items and compare prices vit different shops... it wil differ But he then confessed that they later learned that such meetings may not take place and that it illegal. But surely if you work in that industry you must know that...?? I want to believe him but somehow I don't --Cyclelab just feels like a ripoff to me (price wise). Lets say that prices are fixed, that doesn't mean that different stores would not charge different prices. They just fix the cost price.. thats what I would have done.... But good that he adressed the issue on air
  22. I'm 1.74, Ride a M - GT zaskar (old one). Fits me great!! Looking to buy a new Marida HFS model, not sure yet. Between that OR a road bike upgrade. More a roadie...
