  1. take your helmet off after the race and grind it on the tar to remove any sticky sticker stuff. Or go and stand at the beach and let the wind sandblast you and your bike clean, Or don't stick stickers to your bike
  2. What is wind ? Can you eat it ?
  3. How many People actually don't know that DEEP SECTION WHEELS don't work in wind...... idiots. Come one this is CT and one can look on the net to check the weather and see that you need to leave them at home.. Think that most Capetonians that own a set of Deepsections is actually wasting theirs time. How many races a year can you ride without wind? Guess people want to show off and those wheels make your bike look extra good, but on the practical side..... Not to clever
  4. Ja, my neigbours also started in that group, by the rime they started I was heading back to stellies already. The had a story to tell when they got back, also handed in their numbers and rode on to the much awaited medal. Hats off to you guys for pushing on and even starting in that wind(for first timers ect.)!!
  5. don't have a program, did it last year but no idea how to spread out the training. I'm a roadie so try and train hard all the time. During the winter and 2 months or so it will be good to get some km into your legs, slow but far. The power can come from road cycling and the indurance can come from long mtbing trips.
  6. Would like to keep my old WT chip - or atleast I don't want to pay R100 for a "new look", but I would like to put my WT chip on my fork, hate that strap. anyone got a idea ?
  7. JA maby so, they go to bigger extends to improve ther trade mark and market their brand, but f^(&^king with the prices and in effect rising the overall RRP of bikes is just f-up. If they want to make money out of the juppie guys, they can ask `n higer price, but leave the rest of the shops to do their own deals. Milking a already bad economical situation is just not right
  8. 2nd that!!!!!!!!!
  9. If they have a next supercycling - cyclelab program ... like it that these ppl are being investigated. So this cartel is one of the reason the prices increased over SA? I know the exchange rate and the economic crisis also helps to increase prices, but this cartel set the RRP of bikes and other related items by a bigger margin?
  10. I like this .... the truth will come out sometime.
  11. Go tubeless' date=' so maybe some new tyres. Maxxis Crossmark are awesome. [/quote'] This may be your best bet for an UPGRADE - will make a huge dif when riding - everything is hard, so to fix tires is extra crap. Crossmarks ROCK
  12. So you guys think its worth the trouble to buy one if I'm from CT? Do you guys know if the guarantee will stop if I respray it with some other scheme? Maby the Cervelo white coulours with the olympic rings.... nice.
  13. its hard to just walk in stellies last night, imagine mtbing in jonkers --- crazy man
  14. if I got it right a SE will be bad for the start - from the left front and then at the turn it will help us? more a right back wind.. But the mountain may change the wind a bit and screw up things - either way - Cycling is mostly into the wind - there is a rare myth that some time in your life you get the wind from the back all the way... but its just a myth. some of us get close to this in our lifetime, but only for a few meters of Kilos..thats it
  15. anyone got some more info on jonkers? Working during the day so end up in stellies too late to see how it looks. My brother is going to be pissed, just bought him a new MTB today.... to ride in jonkers. Hope there is something left. Hate this fire - Stellies if full of ashes and smoke - feels like Im sleeping in a "informal settelment"
  16. They EPIC is overrated and that makes it so overpriced. These corporate entries and the world class athletes greate this hype over a MTB event. LAst I heard was that the service was also slacking and going downhill. Hope to be able to do it one day, but for now I can do way more with the money. It makes it special to get an entry, but you only enter if you can afford to pay that much. Think they should make riders to Qualify to start the race, or to be handed a spot. (do they?)
  17. Rollers would be a good idea but- what to do afterward, cant leave it there..., and your not a pro starting in the Elite / Giro group so it will look a bit weird. Guess up to A you can show off on rollers. Will take the rollers along to the parking and then warm up there and head out to the start, push my way to the front and then your off...
  18. What will be a good time to look at then - lets say the wind plays its role - as I'm sure it will and with the new boyes part etc? Group F - due to not doing the Q race the burger / work stuff. What will the bunches look at? A - whatever-compared to last years times? Were not in front (of the race) so we race against the clock and not to split the bunch or do a breakaway or climb like pantani. Just hope the bunches pull their fingers out ...... and ride hard all the way
  19. As I said before- its everyones own choice. a really good point on the sponsor side - surely Giro, Bell and the rest would like their product to be advertised? Either way - you may save your own life by wearing a helmet, for everything else... it doesn't concern you.
  20. IF YOU CAN RIDE IN THE WIND ---- YOU CAN RIDE ANYWHERE
  21. Would like to know if its really as easy as tuning and playing with the small screws on the FD and RD of a Shimano groupset? Having problems to shift to the smalles ring on the RD, the chain seems to slip and struggels to stay there. Do you guys think one can lear how to do a propper job over the internet of in words?
