    2012 94.7

Great day out again (my fifth 94.7), and a big thanks to the spectators - they make it even better. Managed a rather sedate 3H20 from G-group. Had a woman yell to me on the N14 that "Jesus loves you". It didn't feel like he was loving me that much right there, I have to say

I'm in, PeptoPro gear and a white Cannondale - there's two of us.
  3. Are you serious? Good on the driver for hitting a cyclist? Not a smart comment.
  4. I'd imagine they get really heavy, really fast!
  5. I put the X-King Protection on the front of my ride and it still doesn't keep pressure after four months and plenty of Stans (and I've been riding - 200kms per week and the Tour de Tuli on them since May). Resolved to change to Maxxis this week
  6. PeptoPro. Casein hydrolisate that tastes like wet dog but it works - and it has fairly compelling scientific backup. I usually mix it with CytoMax.

I like a good blowjob now and then but today was ridiculous Did anyone see the car crash on the way out of Krugersdorp after the race?
  8. Yep, I was a dumbass - but I was facing a firing squad. I guess single life won't be so bad! If I can have a share in the winnings - I'll need it!
  9. I'm still trying to pluck up the courage to tell my fiancee that I'm doing the Sani next year after promising I wouldn't do anymore stage events...
  10. Sorry to hear about your bad experience Sepia. It is douche bags like that who will stuff it up for the rest of us. Post his name and sit back for the flaming.
  11. Any chance of it opening during the week? I work around the corner from there, I would ride it all the time in the week.
  12. Welcome to the good side Babbas is a good place to do your first MTB race - flat and not technical. Expect about 250 other riders, but once you are out on the course it thins out nicely. It will be a bit sandy in sections so keep your weight off the front wheel. The back section of the course goes over grassland and is bumpy but all in all good fun. Remember not to take out the roadie manners on the trail Most of all enjoy yourself!
  13. When the guy drives away from the scene of the accident it is no longer an accident. It's a very sad story indeed but lets not make out as though Wynand Venter was anything other than cowardly in this case.
  14. Hi Wheelz - I bet your brakes are Avids? I 've got the same issue on a new bike with Avid Elixir 9s. As others have commented, changing the rotor seems to work. I'm planning on putting on Ice-Tech Rotors, just haven't have the time yet.
  15. I'm sick of this bull***t - bike jacking is bad enough but beating up a 10-year-old? WTF! I ride Groenkloof from time to time and am prepared help out in any way I can. edit typo
  16. Toughest single day race - Magoebaskloof Classic (75Km)
  17. Hi Martin, I've got a 34 km route that involves very little repetition. It is as you say, best to ride it a bunch of times and just explore... Or hook up with riders who can show you around. Happy trails!
  18. Yes, I can does like to know this... Ah hell...
  19. Thanks Covie Thanks Ryan, this is what I normally do but am hoping not to have to anymore B) Great, thanks I'll take a look
  20. Hi everyone I was wondering if there are any good ideas for insulating the feeder pipe on a Camelbak between the bladder and the mouthpiece. It isn't too much of an issue in the current climatic conditions we are enjoying in SA but on longer rides in the summer months there is nothing worse than taking that first mouthful of hot liquid (no rude jokes please ) after the sun has heated it up in the pipe. I'm riding the Tour de Tuli in a few weeks where temperatures are sure to turn this into an unnecessary irritation. I saw in Cape Union Mart they have what looks like neoprene pipe insulators for Camelbaks - has anyone used one? Are they effective? Thanks
  21. Someone had to come and slap me on the back of the head to get me to stop staring at your avatar... mesmerising!
  22. Pronutro for breakfast, energade, 500ml / 30km and an apple or two. Peptopro after to aid recovery.
  23. I put a X-King on the front and a Race King on the back after being told by my LBS that they were "UST" tyres - after they kept going flat I did a little research to find that they're "tubeless ready". After enough Stans to plug the Titanic they seem to have sealed up, but I'm not liking the performance too much. The front washes very easily on the loose stuff even at the lowest possible pressure. Doing the Tour de Tuli later this year and will probably bin them for a set of Maxxis Ikons.
  24. I made a R500 contribution the other day (felt it was the least I could do as these guys have done a great job so far) but I didn't receive any form of acknowledgement. Not that I'm looking for a pat on the back but with all the internet fraud that goes on, a simple email acknowledging the payment would have been nice. Will contribute every month until this is over - I'd rather fund OUTA than pay toll fees Edit: typo
