  1. Fellow hubbers Anyone (or any idea) with a gpx file of the bike route?
  2. I tried High5 this weekend for the first time - overall I was not impressed. Given that it is what will be on course I must say I am disappointed. The gels - easy to get down which is a plus but they lack a distinctive punch and fuelling feeling that "normal GUs" do. This is evidenced by the fact they encourage their use EVERY 20 minutes - which for me seems insane. The energy bar - borderline inedible. Very sweet and just crap tasting. The drink - not bad / not great. I have used Pace and Power to date and feel its hydrating and sustenance qualities are far superior to that of High5. I was hoping to be able to "feed" off of what was going to be provided to us but now I think I will have to take almost ALL my nutrition with me. If anyone is looking for really good stuff I recommend Pace and Power - superb superb stuff, specifically designed for long endurance type events like IronMan, EPic etc
  3. Gents whats the views on how many bottles to carry. I only have 1 bottle cage on my old Cervello P2. I was considering buying the rear 2 bottle cage but I have mates who have only had issues with them. Considering there is a waterpoint effectively every 22.5km on the route surely one bottle is enough and just get another at each point? This is my first IMSA so please dont shoot me down if this view seems retarded
  4. As a first timer could you tell me what the general road conditions are like?
  5. All excellent news... other than its dam timing
  6. Agreed the race was good but distance stuff up was disappointing
  7. Great day out as always... you really understand the plight this country is under when the kids on the side are asking not just for sweets but also for water... heart breaking stuff
  8. On their facebook they responded to the question of what dad TriRock cradle would be in 2016 - 20 March 2016
  9. Hi there, Unfortunately triathlonsa schedule contains very little. Tri Rock JHB is 3 weeks prior to Iron Man so not really an option? I recall prestige ultra also being quite close before? When is Midlands 2016 - can find any info? Jailbreak is 2015 - so specifically trying to find the "right training event" in 2016
  10. Hello all, What half distances (or other races) are there, besides 70.3, that would be valuable to do in 2016 in lead up to to IronMan?
  11. This is hands down the best mountain biking event I have ever done. It ticks all the boxes in terms of organisation, value for money, gnarly downhills and challenging climbing. I cannot say enough about this event other than I cant wait for next year
  12. Still easily one of the best races on the calender... well done - an example to all races
  13. Have done this race in the past and it was thoroughly impressive... Remember this is a duathlon AND triathlon event. I agree entry price is steep but still well below what one generally pays for ultra triathlons these days...
  14. Random question - how big are the tents? I know they say they are "2 man tents" but for example at Berg and Bush the tents are for 2 men but are actually 4 man tents - so space for 2 gents is ok....
  15. Very very nice What were the costs in the end?
  16. This seems more like a training tool to me than anything else... Watch "How To Ride A CARON Bicycle - 6 Way Pedaling Technique For Indoor Training & Outdoor Riding, Cycling" on YouTube -
  17. Ditto for this question Please reserve me a spot for the 2nd of August
  18. Good point - are the serving sizings the same. I understand the above is 2 tablespoons so about 30grams... USN?
