  1. Actually the Spark has been sub-2 including the shock since launch. Shock, not fork. Scott Spark Frame, shock including the lockout lever 1.8 kg. http://www.bikemagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/5077 In other words, I agree with Marius.DawieO2008-08-18 07:38:23
  2. Licensed from Scott?
  3. Mediterranean Shipping Company
  4. And I ride a carbon fibre bike, and I don't like beer or rugby. Get over it.
  5. I guess you have one then. You would guess right.
  6. If you don't like it don't do it. Leave others alone if they do. LIVE AND LET LIVE BOYS!DawieO2008-08-15 00:50:49
  7. THAT IS A THING OF BEAUTY!
  8. And he probably won't be open at the crack of dawn when most of the summer riding takes place...
  9. Let's hope the new bikepark in Fourways will satisfy those of us with a bit of adventure lust. That way we can keep it behind fences where there is specific intent and liability in riding the technical stuff.
  10. The trick is going to be in limiting the damage done to our access there. The next issue is going to be when someone gets hurt on those jumps by the Scout hall thingie. I am all for "only ride what you can", but this could explode into a situation where we don't get to ride there at all...
  11. Skinny Legs, That was the same symptom. New cables will sort it.
  12. Mine are XTR, but you don't need to strip them. Just take the outer covers off, use some chain cleaner and a toothbrush, rinse with water, lube with very light lube. Solid housings are a very good idea. Makes the routing a bit interesting, but very worth it.
  13. I had exactly that problem. Old cables and dirty shifter internals.
  14. The mechanisms in the shifters are a bit sensitive to dust, so after a while the shifting gets harder and harder. I found that chain cleaner and a toothbrush, followed by a light lube sorts the problem out nicely.
  15. Dual Control is the business. They do need a bit more maintenance, but they are amazing to ride with.
  16. When life becomes all real and depressing, I come here to be reminded that this is more than a sport to some. I am also then very thankful to guys like colihoff for giving me someone to point and laugh at, and to folks like latrinus who are actually doing something to make my sport possible.

    New kit

Only appropriate if you ACTUALLY ARE a sergeant. Very nice Kit!
  18. The catering at Northern Farm is a bought concession, so the quality varies... There was a time when you could get coffee with condensed milk and a brekkie roll for less than an arm and a leg. Other than that NFarm is AWESOME value, especially if you buy the season ticket for R280(?) for 20 rides.

    mtb saddle

There have been a couple of Fizik Gobi's on the classifieds. In my opinion the best MTB seat ever made! But, the bike-butt interface is a very personal thing...
  20. Sounds like a fantastic revenue opportunity to me... (yes, sarcasm intended.)
  21. This is handy for comparison: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/turbo_trainers.html
  22. Elite Crono Wireless is the business. Fluid or electro magnetic resistance is the best out there currently, which limits you to fairly expensive IDT's. The other very good option is the Tacx Flow.

    Stem Length

I agree with GoLefty on that. Besides most MTB's come standard with stems of 100mm or longer.
  24. I believe this is what you are looking for: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=29833 enjoy.
  25. Got both, love both. Garmin you don't have any other sensors to hook up (unless you add the cadence sensor or an ANT+ power meter...) and swap between bikes is a no-brainer. Garmin Training software is horrible, but once you start downloading your tracks onto GoogleEarth you'll be hooked! Polar software is better, and the watch never dies. Service from both vendors is fantastic. But then there is the PRICE of the 705, OUCH!
