  1. cool. Is there a list of approved roofracks?
  2. What constitutes an "approved" bicycle roof rack? Is this exception documented?
  3. me too, subject to the answers posed above! I would take 10 of those.
  4. POV-1.5 is about us$1000. DawieO2009-04-25 05:23:59
  5. Depends on the quality youi are after. You can get away with around R3k, but then you are not going to get anything worth watching. However, for around R9k you can get DVD quality like Greg Minnar used on that clip of him doing a downhill. Can't remember the URl, but if you Google it you'll find it.
  6. Took the words right outta my mouth TNT. You can't rip someone off unless you can get them to do business with you...
  7. Actually I think I may have just such a seat in a box at home. Let me check. If I remember it is a little scuffed but in good working order. Was a bit Spartan for my lap-of-luxury-leather office-chair behind
  8. Cape Storm Matrix Bib is the business. Shirts are very comfy but not very pretty.
  9. This from FPC early this morning: Fritz Pienaar Cycles response to the announcement by the Competition Commission that it intends to launch an enquiry into alleged price-fixing by the cycle retail industry and thereby implicating Fritz Pienaar Cycles as one of the parties allegedly involved: We firmly deny any involvement in any alleged scheme to break the law and create a so-called cartel to fix prices or margins in the cycle retail industry. We did attend an open forum discussion in Johannesburg last year that was convened to discuss the challenges facing the bicycle industry as a whole. More than 40 retailers and wholesalers were present at the discussion. The intentions of this meeting were honourable, and all those present set out to find solutions to challenges facing the industry that would benefit the wholesalers, retailers and consumers. The enquiry appears to be based on minutes of this open forum discussion, which are inaccurate and most certainly not a true reflection of the intentions of the parties concerned. We welcome the enquiry into this matter and pledge our full support to the Competition Commission. At Fritz Pienaar Cycles, we remain committed to our customers and hope that this exercise will help lead to a healthier, more stable bicycle industry that benefits the consumer. Fritz Pienaar Director - Fritz Pienaar Cycles
  10. Fantastic saddles. I replaced my Gobi with one of these a couple of months ago, and the Sani2C was a completely painless (in that area anyway) experience. 2 thumbs up to Kiwi.
  11. Speed-Devil, that is a fantastic tip about putting a piece of old cable in...
  12. Cape Storm is fantastic. I have 6 pairs (at the price of 2 pairs of Santini/Assos) The low cut front makes access to the pressure relief valve easy.
  13. Imagine one of these AND a Rohloff... Bliss.
  14. I lusted after those like mad! Shock and fork over time, and be proud of your retro beauty
  15. how bad is a 20km walk? Sidewall pretty much disintegrated. when we had a look at the tyre after, the point where it failed was just one of many where it was going to. Granted I am quite a big guy, but the failure was fundamental. DawieO2009-02-12 03:07:01
  16. Yep. Sidewalls are quite fragile and I ended up with gaitors and stuff on the Sani2C 2 years ago.
  17. My mate had a similar scare in Dec, sans the violent end. We took the bikes off the carrier to go for a little Harkerville ride and the handlebar came right off in his hands! The face plate on his KCNC scandium stem had cracked right through at the bolt holes.
  18. 1 of 2 things: a: Overtightened bolts on the swivel b: Dust between the frame and the arm.
  19. No it isn't. It can do both. In fact the sensor unit that does cadence is the same unit that does speed.
  20. I have had nothing but great service from AVNIC over the years. I have had a number of GPS's including aviation and general use units, and on the rare occassions when I had issues they were always prompt and efficient and never failed to impress. The 305's seemed to be particularly problematic and I went through 3 units before upgrading to a 705. Every time they were there and willing to replace under warranty. PS, the 705 is THE BUSINESS!
  21. and learn to work on your own bike... Fitting a derailleur isn't exactly rocket science.
  22. Alot of guys ride with a smaller frame and a long stem' date=' the smaller frame flex's less when under power. Look at most top sprinter's bikes. Boonen's bike is very noticable in that regard and even SA's Malcolm Lange is the same. I cant believe I know something technical that you dont know!!!![/quote'] ...but Lance rides a BIG frame! So the others MUST be wrong. Not many of the others have won 7 TdF's...
