  1. Care to share a link? Now I really should not do this for fear of attracting more bids but I see it at iWarehouse for R1499, CapeMulti has it on Bid or Buy for R1499, Cyclelab has it for R1599.
  2. Why? If 5 people bid R900 then they sell for R900 but more people might be interested and the price could end up at R1200. Best you go and advise all those on BoB to just sell them at reserve price. ASG is doing the same with their Rudy Project auctions. If anything Magicshine can be accused of copying another's idea but the more offers on here the merrier.
  3. I'm with pusher here though... top 5 bidders so effectively if 5 people bid R900 they'd win...
  4. It was a pleasure by the way... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/115228-win-a-magicshine-mj880-2000lumen-4000k-cycle-light/page__view__findpost__p__1656740
  5. Thanks. At least now you also provided a bit more detail regarding when the competition closes.
  6. So I hope we get feedback on this and it is not just a made up story to get more likes...... Please let us know how you are doing it and when? I presume you will draw a name from those who like your page.
  7. Getting "504 Gateway Timed Out" when trying your link to your website (in both Firefox and Chrome).
  8. Ah yes, the expected response. Pity the Stormers only put 17 points on the board against the same wooden spooners (oh wait, next excuse ready, "but that was away from home") and the Bulls don't play them. But not to worry.... like I said, keep one eye over your shoulder...
  9. So no fan fare or cheering for the Sharks putting 50 points on the board? Watch out Stormers and Bulls....
  10. Well you could if you felt Strava was your ride repository of choice. I could of course show them my Sportstracker, Endomondo, Runkeeper etc etc etc profiles if they so desired. BUT being a phone user I am obviously smart enough to realise that they needn't have recorded every ride anyway.....
  11. Hey, that one is often thrown in for good measure... which I always find a little strange for a bike that has only done 100km
  12. I saw a great merge suggestion on Twitter.... Kings, Force & Blues? They can be called the For-king Blues.
  13. Ha ha, I hear you. I wouldn't complain either if they were all bargains but most of these folk seem to think they can sell the bike for the same price as a new bike, because the bike has "only done 800m to the shop and back". I have, perhaps nastily, taken to posting the original brand new price that I find online on some of the adverts. My view is, as with a car, once that bike "drives off the showroom floor" it loses value. People who pay exhorbitant prices for these second hand bikes are ruining it for the rest of us and leading to inflated second hand prices. <puts on his bargaining cap and sets off>
  14. It seems that there are a lot of people out there who buy brand new bikes, don't ride them at all, and then feel the need to sell them. I do understand this may happen on occasion due to unforeseen circumstances but I find it quite interesting that every second advert now claims that the bike has done less than 100km. I'd get it if they claim they have found they just don't ride much and are giving up the sport but often we'll be told that they are selling to upgrade to something better. Surely 100km is hardly sufficient time to realise you want something "better"?
  15. Dude, it's like with anything, whether it be sport or recreation, until you get into it and do a little research you are easily lead astray. Hell, before I "got into" mountain biking I too was easily fooled into seeing a front folk with shocks and thinking that this must be the real deal. Think anything. Golf clubs. Know nothing and as long as it has nine irons and a few woods you assume this must be a mamba set of clubs. Or those Vaalies who come to Durbs on holiday and buy themselves those luminous baggies because they are somehow fooled into thinking that is how surfers dress. Unfortunately there are huge markets that prey on these folk. They manufacture "replicas" of the real deals and sell them to the masses.
  16. Incredible Corruption is another perfect example of this. I can't believe their prices.
  17. Dude, as no expert myself, you are comparing a brand new up to date 29" with a 9 year old, no doubt slightly worse for wear, outdated 26". It hardly surprises me that you thought the 26" would have been better nowhere. If you ahd ridden a new 26" you may well have felt similarly surely? As an aside, I've got that Suntour Raidon Air fork... probably the one part of my cheapie bike I'd look to change first if I really felt like spending money.
  18. Notice the wink? Usually accepted as meaning a comment was said in jest. No need to continue over analysing things. You have both. You need to justify your purchase. End of story
  19. Thank you so much for providing a little stimulation to the economy and getting your hard earned money back into the monetary cycle
  20. I think someone works for FOX......
  21. I think someone works for Garmin...
  22. No hard feelings at all. We all have our own opinions and I personally appreciate it when someone is willing to stick by that opinion and argue it.
  23. I can only assume you know the OP personally, or have followed him extensively on here, as I cannot find in the initial post where he refers to the distance he rides. Have you just assumed that his needs MUST be the same as yours due to the fact that the entire universe revolves around you? I cannot share my STRAVA profile with you as it is not my service of choice. I use Sports Tracker but will not be sharing my profile with you as I only share it with friends and you clearly do not fall into this category. This means that if I gave you the link you'd not be able to see anything anyway. I will quite happily tell you that I do not ride 8 hours a day and have never completed an 8 day stage race. I have little doubt that you will assume you are far superior to me because of this and all I can do is tell you to enjoy your smugness. I can, however, also share with you the fact that my usual rides are in the 2 hour range with the longest currently being 3 1/2 hours. I could also tell you that on completing this ride my phone was showing around 60% battery (yes, I checked as it was the longest ride I had done!) but, of course, in all your smugness you'll just call BS on this too. Dude, unlike you apparently, I have reached a point in my life where I really feel no need to prove my worth to any one else by spewing out big numbers of my achievements. I will happily share my opinion on topics, and will argue it where I feel the need and am in the mood, but if you do not like it and reckon it is all BS then please, feel free to skip over my posts. Now go and stand in front of the mirror, flex your muscles and repeat five times "I am the greatest"
  24. I fully agree that the OP, and anyone else who reads this, needs all facts to allow them to make an informed decision. I just take offence when someone, and it wasn't you, claims that I talk absolute BS just because I do not share the same opinion they do. As a result of being in full agreement, I felt it necessary to point out that no HRM and poor visibility outdoors was not a negative for ALL smartphones but your specific device (which was not initially mentioned hence adding to the need to clarify). To add further to the information provided, my bluetooth Polar HRM for my Nokia cost me around R400 (at the exchange rate at the time and including shipping etc). Yes, it was not available from a shop here but it took around a week to arrive and, for my personal needs and the fact I already had a phone, meant that an outlay of only R400 was by far the cheapest way for me to monitor my rides (including tracks, distance, heart rate, ave speed, max speed etc. Also elevation and calories although I question the absolute accuracy of these on most, exlcuding purpose built, devices).
