  1. Compared to Gatorskins what other brand that's cheaper can I use ? Gatorskins are a tad too expensive for me right now & I'm in need of a new tyre ........... Unless anyone here have one in good condition as a spare they not using & can sell off - ??????? "DT"
  2. I agree - it is one of the safest venues I've trained in - bar non. I support these ideas, however a signage board that the cyclists can contribute to indicating "Entrance for Cyclists" - the flyer is a good idea as well, any other entrance the cyclists would be turned away & pointed in the right direction. "DT"
  3. Mine is simple too: Get up - dress up - show up and don't wheel suck - do some work !!! "DT"
  4. I am F$&^%$%^&^NG FURIOUS this morning - after dropping my daughter off at Greenside High we come to a stop street, this moer is behind me- female cyclist is coming on around the bend at the golf course - many of U know where this is. I wait for her to pass & she's close, this moer wheelies past behind me on the left and cuts infront of her...I hoot at her to stop which she did..she was mad. I go after him & he sees me coming - beats me to the traffic light giving me the finger I swear today was gonna be my day to moer a motorist - or damage his car, he must be thankful he sped away leaving me in traffic. Swine... I don't see us winning any time soon against these ass holes .... "DT"
  5. CREED - best of 2004
  6. I tried to avoid some stones the size of a fist taking a corner - my right hand wheel got nicked and now cut on the side-wall resulting in a blow - out. It is an Ultra Gator Skin and hardly 2 months old. Tried patching it up from the inside with an old piece of tyre but I still get a bulge when I pump it up.. The other option I have is use it on the indoor trainer Any ideas on what I can do / use to make full use of this tyre or how can I repair it - any guys familiar with this ??? "DT"
  7. Yes gr8 U got the bike back but I have to ask: Was the bike left in the yard or un-locked & if so "it was left to its own demise" and U are to blame for leaving it open for theft - "DT"
  8. Eric Clapton - The Crossroads Guitar Festival - DVD collection absolute brilliance "DT"
  9. Secondly, South African roads are dangerous. Motorists disobey the rules and regulations, cyclists do likewise. -Quote: Kona Fan I agree here - & with many a post here but I still believe both parties need to find common ground: I recently bought an Allsafe top - very green / bright & with reflecting strips ... very nice for summer and fits well over a cycling top - this just so that "I COULD BE SEEN & NOTICED BY MOTORISTS" - Do U think that even helped yesterday ? NO - 2 seperate motorists swore by the fact that they could beat me at the intersections (they had to stop) & I had right of way - they blatantly went over the stop street after quickly looking right & left .......... I had to slow down 'cos I saw their intentions ............. so sorry there are very few motorists who actually give a damm about cyclists "DT"
  10. Mine did the same - I completely erased all the data - re-set the wheel measurements and I've got it accurate now - I also have a Cateye mounted (mostly for Indoor training) also set - up correctly but give a slightly different reading on the raod - I was told you will never get them to read exactly the same - there are variances. 11. Here is my one & only comment on this: As a roadie I very often see "roadies" riding abreast in some busy roads and even where there are 2 - 3 lanes. Last week I've seen this and one of the guys was not even wearing a helmet. They ride along chit chatting oblivious to how others road users feel - when hooted on or asked to please move U get the abused. Now as a roadie I've never liked big groups, rode with them, yet they arrogant and irresponsible. Yes we only 2 guys which also stand a great chance of being hurt or killed. Just see what happened to Gerhard recently. So I will neither defend the cyclist and I'll at a lesser degree defend the motorist - NON OF WHICH WILL SEE THE OTHERS POINT OR RIGHT TO THE ROAD. GO AHEAD - RIDE AS U WILL - GROUPS, SINGLE OR TWO OR THREE - U still cannot win against the arrogance of a motorist !!! "DT"
  12. watched the DVD of: Give in to me - MJ .........!!! Slash on that guitar - amazing "DT"
  13. A friend of mine is a runner - used to do Comrades & is getting back into his game. He wants to know if anyone here is familiart with the Garmin Forerunner range of GPS units -- some runners use it he believes etc.. He wants it to record distance , time , route etc ... Any help appreciated !!! "DT"
  14. My sincere apologies to all the girls I've dated and hurt in the past - I'm truely sorry but in the interim know that my feelings were hurt too - when I got dumped. I hereby under oath and truthfully solemly swear I'm sorry. "DT"
  15. Yeah maybe its not such a bad idea especially with these stupid pedestrians crossing the road -- I slapped one silly last year that got in my way --- speaking of which - coming to work this morning just pass the Nelson Mandela bridge a pedestrian - big black female runs across the road in the face of an on coming motor bike - the biker & pedestrian goes down, bike lands up way down the pavement & pedestrian somewhere else ....... truth be told: I hope the biker is ok. "DT"
  16. Ok so it's AWESOME - CONGRATULATIONS FROM ME TOO - Now I still don't see a post here from U explaining what U did -- don't make these people wait & in suspense - there's a lot here probably that need that advice ....... jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhhhhh come on out with it already. "DT"
  17. My 2c worth: When viewing the "local sport show's" there's just nothing there that "grabs me" - I'm not focused and I'm bored out of my wits. However I never watch S/Cycling , local soccer as it's boring & class less , local cricket &/or Rugby -- all these does nothing for me. The commentary U mention here was everything it should not have been & drove me back to the yard for chores. I don't see myself wasting valuable time listening to local commentary & watching something that add's no value except the pictures & cyclists themselves on the European circuit. One would think Andrew M has "so much knowledge" on cycling (he might have) that he'll make a spectacular Commentator, like Naas on Boots & all ... just I don't see how they "captivate an audience". Take Phil & Paul or Sports Centre ----- now they grab me & I enjoy watching. All Andrew requires is a Vuvuzela "DT"
  18. CSA -- bunch of clowns !!! Transparency se voet - that is low even for them !!! "DT"
  19. Such "Politics & Absurdity" --- No wonder I don't get involved any longer in "Organised Racing" activities / events etc.... It's such a huge mess and shunting around. I'm quite happy to ride my bike anywhere I please without the need to race or go thro' any Licencing gaboodle. For me its just not worth it - Loads of K%&^%K service anyway. DT
  20. Is there a difference between buying a new car or house ???? same difference...........i.e EXPENSIVE !!! 'DT"
  21. Feathers - Welcome ...don't pay heed to anything these guys say here --- "I'm old enough" - not old anough to be your Dad, cycling like forever etc... I could have helped U get stronger & fitter & Faster ....... It's a shame I'm in Jhb !!! I need a younger partner to "motivate me!" Welcome again !!! stay awhile ok !! "DT"
  22. These mag's "used to be good" but for some time now I've stopped buying & reading them .... I get no info from it I can use, the same things are explained albeit differently every other issue ---- worth spending money on my fishing publications instead !!!! "DT"
  23. "Horrific looking" - No wonder I lift light weights !!! "DT"
  24. WHen U don't have much of it !!!!!!!!! "DT"
  25. First we get robbed at gunpoint in any open area having a picnic or something, house robberies make us live under lock & key / then Mountain bikers are being jacked / now roadies are as well ?????? I've done a short ride with a roadie the other day & both he and his brother was jacked on Ontdekkers between McDonalds & Flora Centre -- We have to watch our backs while out riding - cannot even enjoy the pain of cycling itself without worrying who's targeting U !!!
