  1. Spring is two weeks away... close enough for me
  2. So I was super lucky where I have to work this morning. Woohoo. I live in the Sandton area and I drive past Melrose Arch to get onto the highway. There were a number of guys (and maybe gals) who were riding into Melrose arch, all wearing black/yellow/red cycling kit who were headed toward Melrose Arch, and I assume that it was a club ride. The one cyclist took up the whole lane that I had to move over almost entirely onto the oncoming lane and the other cyclists were no where near the side of the lane . I ride a road bike sometimes so I thought that maybe it was just cause they were fresh on the bike for the morning. So I thought that I would just leave it. THEN. ANOTHER INCIDENT. I'm driving past the entrance closer to the highway at Athol-Oaklands side and the cyclist turns right into Melrose, cutting the corner so he didn't have to stop for me to have my right of way. Now I know that it was before 7am on a Sunday and the roads don't seem to be that busy, but there was a BidVest walk on today. So that means that there are hundreds of extra cars in the area today. All it would have taken was for me to be in a rush and someone could have ben hurt. PLEASE!! I ask all the guys that were out there this morning, to be a little more careful. I want to freak every time a cyclist gets hurt or killed but sometimes it is the cyclists fault. We are coming into season and EVERYONE needs to please be more careful.
  3. I agree. They really are doing their bit for cycling
  4. Taking a day off work helps too, if you can...
  5. Do you guys enjoy the Sufferfest workouts? I'm thinking of trying one or two to see how it goes, but I'm a little sceptical
  6. They haven't done the proper set-up yet as I bought it late... Will see them this week for that to be done. I wasn't going to leave it there... wanted to bring her home and perv
  7. at Cycle Lab Centurion. They are really helpful and really stroke ones ego. So well, that I ended up with a new toy that I probably didn't need . But their service was GREAT It's not often that I walk into a bike shop and get treated that well. I really recommend the drive there, if you live in JHB. Ewald was brilliant and getting me to part will a few more Rands than i had expected to spend. Pic of the new toy he got me onto...
  8. This one I took in Scotland in December. Used a Nikon S8000.
  9. +1. I bought my bike from them recently and they did a great job helping me out
  10. Tombeej - Thanks for the feed back. I am going to look into which races I want to use as my key events and then find a few races in between. Which site can i use to check which races i can can claim vitality points for? My biggest problem is time, as i have to be at work by 7:15 in the morning and the light isn't in my side anymore. So i've committed to doing as much spinning as possible for the moment.
  11. Trubie - So you select a few major races (94.7, Argus) and then use the smaller ones as training for those? If I am understanding it right, you use the small races as a build-up to the big ones. Ok, I think I am on track with that thought process. Tankman - is this simply a personal preference? How much time do you spend training? I suppose the best thing is just to spend as much time as possible in the saddle. With work atm, i'm going to have to spend a lot of time on the spinning class
  12. I'm going to do a series of sprint distances as I want to have a good base before I step up to an olympic distance. I have started training on the swimming and running, but haven't had much time on my new bike yet (which is killing me). This weekend I am hoping to get my toy a little more used. The thought process was that I should do 40km races as that would be good and adequate distance for the sprint. Being new to the sport has it's challenges of not knowing what to do...
  13. I was browsing an online entries page for mtb events, and was wondering if the triathletes out there use many road races as part of their training for triathlons. There is such a wide range of races coming up it seems, that I was thinking of entering a few. I noticed that there was a time trial series listed too. So if you do enter races, which ones do you enter, and what distances do you do?
  14. @Thug - Did you buy any extras with your 310? I want to maybe buy mine today, and order the extras if i don't have them.
  15. I have tried checking on the Garmin wewbsite, but what DOESN'T come in the box that one might want to buy? I need to put my computer on my stem as my tri-bars fill up any space. Would i be able to do this? @AJ99 - Did you get yours yet?
  16. The tyre pressure does concern me, WRT the sealant going everywhere once there is a puncture. I think I will speak to the guys at the shop and see what they recommend.
  17. I recently purchased a TT bike for doing triathlons, but I was wondering if one would put tyre sealant in the tyres of a TT bike or not
  18. 1.78m 64kg Giant Trinity TT Small Silverback Phoenix MTB Medium
  19. I don't want to name and shame until I have spoken to the manager. If nothing is done, then I will name and shame. Wouldn't want that done to my business, so I need to give them a change to sort it out
  20. I think I will contact the store and let them know. Definately think I will shop elsewhere based on principle. I'm just blown away by the lack of service when the industry took such a knock last year... Pity people don't value customer service like they used to
  21. So today I decided that I wanted to look for a new road bike to use for triathlon training. Nothing fancy, but still willing to spend money. I detoured to an LBS which was slightly out of my way, as so many people on The Hub have raved about their service. This would be the third time I've been to their store. The first time I didnt get any service, so I left it as I was just browsing. The second time I went in, wanting to buy some Giordana kit. I was in the store for 30 minutes, and again, there was still no service. But they seemed busy so I left it. Today I was willing to drop a few more pennies and still no frigging service. Is this acceptable service? Maybe the lack of a fancy car outside put them off, or the lack of designer clothing. Now the main question: Do i bother complaining, or go to a place where I pay a lot more for my product but get acknowledged and helped while I'm there?,
  22. Option 3
  23. I think this relates: http://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/kwazulu-natal/cyclist-shot-dead-after-altercation-1.746619
  24. LOL... True. My step-mom can't stop shopping at them malls. Window browsing is how I ended up getting my mountain bike, so it can't be all that bad
  25. I'm interested to hear about your product. most of our fleet is diesel and we often have fuel 'incidents'. Would love to catch the fools and fire their asses!!
