  1. When I returned from Belgium a few years ago I was offered R1500 pm for one team and R2000pm for another. And I got a top 10 place in every race. I couldn't even make rent with that so I ha to move back to PE.OcTaLL2007-08-13 10:51:00
  2. When I raced overseas no medical aid was willing to cover me, none of them wants to cover professional sports men, a bit unfair I'd say.
  3. The way things are going now, it might be possible for Barloworld to win the team competition. By the time they hit Paris Barloworld will be the only team left with riders.
  4. I wish, can't even afford a free one for myself
  5. After a long fight with one of the manufacturers and them threatening me with law suites. And me finding out that they can't sue me. They told me well fine if you want to sell our products you do so at your own risk and the agents in SA will not have to honor any service agreements. Price fixing is illegal, so the "SRP" is a form of pricefixing. If I want to give everybody free bicycles I can do so, dumb, but I can if I want to.....wouldn't that be nice though.
  6. wats nuut!!! Ek wag nou nog vir hulle om na my toe terug te kom, tenminste het Carinus my geantwoord en my na development toe gestuur, ek wag nou amper meer as n maand vir development om my te antwoordOcTaLL2007-06-30 03:55:12
  7. I tried the page but it has errors
  8. YIP, the biggest thing where people goe wrong is to get the bike set up like the pro's. Remember that when the pro's race everything is for speed and airodinamics. The comfy part comes in way last if any. Many years ago one of the top guys in the TDF had to pull out due to saddle sores, so beleive me his saddle was not very comfy. When you do your bike setup, you must keep setain things in mind when doing so, eg. setup your saddle so that your ball of your foot and your knee lines up when your pedal is at 3 o clock. Remember this, set your bike up so that when you go on long rides, your back and knees do't get sore. If you are comfortable when you go ride you'll most likely enjoy it more. Don't do setups that the pro's has, it's for the pro's, tick to what is comfy for you, every person is an individual.
  9. Hubs: nothing else than the 240S's, there's no better hub, these swiss oakies knew what they were doing. For the others, get in contact with some mechanics, they'll tell you which they have problems with.
  10. LOL, sounds like mcdonalds when they forced everyone to change anything sounding remotely the same.
  11. regarding the double ID: add some programming to the website that will check if the IP address that is asigned to known members already exists, this is done by a simple IF STATEMENT. If the IP address is existant in the database, decline the double ID entry or new application. I was involved in a simaliar case with a project I did a few years ago. This will sort out the double ID problem. e-mails should be valid, eg. no hotmail etc. Many forums in UK has this installed. Ideally posts should be first screaned but I know that admin don't want to sit and read every single post before making it public. Admin controllers: simply delete harmfull posts. zero tolorence. Keep in mind guys, what is best for cycling and the guys that are proned to read these mesages. there are many things I would like to say on this forum, but I don't think it is advantageous to the general good of cycling, eg. the post on stopping internet stores. There are many names I could name and companies that I can bad mouth, but I don't think it will be of any good to you, the cyclist. If you wouldn't want it said to you, don't say it.
  12. Ya, I know, but it yet again just proves a theory of mine, South Africa sux, you won't find this type of actions anywhere else in the world. I just think these guys should stop focusing on bullying small fries like me and focus on good service to their customers. last I saw was that HiFi corp was still going strong doing parallel imports, hehe.....I should know, I worked for them. Oh ya, AND IT'S LEGAL!
  13. I just recieved another e-mail from one of the suppliers in SA telling us to stop selling their products or else...... A small qoute out of the e-mail: "Quite simply, you cannot sell .......... in South Africa as you are unauthorized to do so as you do not hold the license for ................ in South Africa. You are required to desist from selling any further ................. products." Really, what is cycling coming to, it is starting to sound like a comunist country and that if you don't do as they say, you will...............
  14. get a shimi 105, they last longer than the dura ace.
  15. Icycling, don't you want sponsor such a CC or as you do business there would it no be better and cheaper to have someone in Belgium that you can just contact to do the work for you? eg. me? Just a thought...
  16. it is not the process of getting the VISA, the problem is that not everybody has got R30000 lying in their bank accounts or have someone who is willing to put that into their accounts to get the VISA. If you or anybody knows of someone willing to put this amount into my account that will be great. Maybe there is a company that could help us and get some FREE publicity. I'llmake sure they get the pubicity they deserve.
  17. next we'll hear is that bicycles are only allowed to go 30km/h and there will be speed traps all over. You know with job creation and all. LOL
  18. I am trying to do this, check my post on the VISA.
  19. I'm trying to actaully go and race in Belgium as then I will be able to pack and send the goods myself and I'm sure delivery will be cut in half, as at the moment the holdup seems to be at either the suppliers or the factory. If I'm there to breath down their necks the whole time it will go quicker.
  20. check out my homepage and all the problems I had is on there. www.emilesteenkamp.com
  21. Is there any groups leving for Belgium around end June, beginning July. it is always easier when groups go to apply for VISA's
  22. I just saw on a site that for Spain you don't need a VISA if you are staying less than 3months. Can this be true?
  23. Sport in SA will only come right once the politics ends..... OK so it will never come right. I wish my forefathers never came to this place
  24. It's something like the car industry. A number of years ago a friend's dad worked for VW and at that stage a citi golf cost them R6000 to make, they sold for R50000.
  25. Breeze: I think maybe you must do my app for me. I went to Belgium 2years ago and last year when I tried applying my app was declined. Note: R55000 in bank, letter from employer. Reason for declined: insufficient funds and no proof of employment, but in the app it says that you needed R27000, they even worked it out for me at the consulate. We after fighting about 2 months with them got hold of the minister of foreign affairs's office. the answer we got from them was official: Belgium stated to them that if someone is going to "cycle" in Belgium they will be earning money and therefore need a work permit. The best thing is that the consulate told me that if I can get a letter from our SACF stating that I represent South Africa, they will grant the VISA, SACF inturn refused to give me the letter and said that it would be fraud. Note: I was in the SA Federation team at that time, in which I represented SA just a week prior to the incedent. We were told that if we want to contest it we must appoint a lawyer in Belgium and he must fight our case there. In my letter from the team at that stage it stated very clear that I would not be earning any money and that the team is an amateur club team. You must be very lucky in the sense that you can actually tell them you go cycling. The minister told us that he suggests we enter via another country because they have had many complaints over Belgium. I have been told by other people as well to try via Spain, they are the easiest to get into. Just a real petty our SACF would not help me, you know with the promoting of cycling and getting SA to ride in EU teams and all. In SA there are probably tons of good cyclists, just look at Robbie, just t mention one. But when these guys do it on their own, then the Federations want to jump on the bandwaggen. maybe that wil change now with the change over.
