Thought I'll wake up the second BL bunch on the drag to Maropeng so we can catch the first group only to get dropped when they woke up. Oh well, at least they caught the first group. Third group (now the second group) caught me and I rode with them for a while but they left me behind going down into Muldersdrift. We stayed in visual contact with the first group but could never catch them I finished in 3:04 flat. That surge up to Maropeng cost me my sub 3, but no complaints. All part of life! GaryvdM did a lot of work in that second group. Well done to him!

not picking a fight. Digging for info & sources... Everywhere 20 is quoted as the cut-off for VA/VB but where in the CSA regs is this defined? I have been through a few docs on their website but only find vague references to seeding etc but no number, nor cut-off. Entry pages quote it (and refer to generic landing pages at CSA) as if it is the Holy Gospel. If I am blind, pleaee post a screen shot / link / whatever (and highlight the text if felt it is needed to get it past my failing eyesight)

two years ago BL caught the 50+ men and the elite ladies. Mega bunch going down the steps was absolutely terrifying. Lots of "get out of our bunch" between the ladies (BL startwd 8 minutes after them!) and the others, with only one lonely commisaire in a bakkie.... Eventually the ladies neutralised their own race on the final climb out Heidelberg to let the rest go. Scary fast race... still my highest avg speed for a race, and then it is the longest one of all of them .... Back as well

My 12 yo son took a liking to archery after I sponsored him and a few mates to a "give it a go" program at Marks Park archery club late last year. All of them decided to carry on with it. Not sure how much the other parents appreciate forking out money for recurve bows, arrows, accessories & memberships. The boys love it though!
