I enjoy both, however the little bit my gf has watched she prefers the UK version, I think it is all down to peoples likes and dislikes.

Started AL batch, got spat out at the bottom of the 2.5km climb, battled the whole way up and over, snuck into a BL batch at the bottom of the hill the whole way to about 5km from the turn around point and then i was spent(burnt my last match stick trying for dear life to stay with them), battled with the little headwind all on my own after the turn around point for 15km, got caught by a batch and latched on for dear life for the last 15km as i was looking at a 3:30 finish but burnt the matchbox with the small group to finish 3:21..... Very happy with the event....

For some crazy reason I am also AL(Impossible i am a twice a month weekend warrior)... Ek gaan afkak....BIG TIME!!!!!

Got my sms...... Getting my Gf`s brother to collect my number as we only going to stay in Durban for the Sunday night before the ride.

So I started in CL (completely incorrectly seeded) tried to hang onto the big group, however only managed this till the 15km mark when my legs reminded me that I was a dumb@ss for doing legs at gym on friday(cramped flippen early and battled the whole way to the end). I then got picked up 10km later by a very fast DL group who spat me out again 5km down the road, it was a very lonely 20km before I linked up with a small 3 man DL group. We were then caught by a few EL guys at the 55km point who we managed to stay with, then FL caught us at Carnival City and we stayed with them right until the last 8km when the group splintered as everyone started sprinting. I am partially satisfied with my 3:11 ride considering I haven`t really ridden properly since Macsteel. Shot to the chap from EL i think(number on his shirt was missing) in the cycle Nation kit for helping me push through to the end. A special Thanks to the road rangers for the work you guys do.

Nope I knew it was starting soon..... And it is one of the most downloaded shows around.

Game of Thrones?

Well I started with a group of 5 that stuck together till 10km mark when a young strong group from KL passed us, we tried to stay together but they were motoring it, I was then left on my own till I hit 62km where I caught a group from GL and sat with them for 20km and then went TT style for the last 20km. I prefer cycling in a group as it helps me forget that my legs are not enjoying themselves. Case and point been the springbok freedom day challenge I battled with the wind all alone(TT style) and hated every moment of it 80km route(2h58min on the down hills max speed was 25km/h)

This will be my second 100km event, first was Macsteel where i started in JL batch finished in a time of 3h15min, per racetec I will be starting in CL batch for emperors race (I think i might drop back to EL or FL as i have only been going to spinning classes twice a week for the last 2 weeks).

I would love to rescue a Husky, but unfortunately my yard is just not big enough and both myself and the other half work 8 to 9 hour days. Thus I am considered rescuing a spaniel for my other half`s birthday this year, once I have a bigger yard I will then look at rescuing a Husky or two.

Gemma the Great Dane with her squeaky Prime-rib toy, she runs around all day with that toy in her mouth. (She is 6 years old but acts like a puppy and lap dog).

Really well organised event... I did well considering this was my first 100km ride 3:15... Couple of hair raising moments with the vehicles between Heidleberg and Nigel, Also the short distance riders riding two abreast and taking the whole lane up even after the sign boards saying please keep left, so we had to keep going into the second lane to pass(I would have understood if it was a big group but this was just 2 people riding next to each other everytime - I felt like a chop having to ask people to please keep left the whole time). Other than my little rant(which i will remember when i ride the shorter distances) it was a good day out and the weather was not bad either.

Boom JL.....(Ouch its gonna be a long day in the saddle)....

Scotty what batch were you in, I was in AS near the front for the whole ride bar the BS rider coming through at the end and causing the group to scatter in the last 5km. It was a good ride and the group never really had any incidents that I am aware of.

Ok well I was one of the shorter distance riders that snuck into the Al & Bl batches when they passed on the flats(I lost the plot with the first climb motoring up it and was battling there after) I only sneaked into the batches near the back as they were passing and stayed on the left side near the back of the batches.(You have to remember the short distance guys just go flat out TT and don`t even bother trying to group up - Its very frustrating) I actually tagged the one batch for a good 15km. For those short distance riders that messed your groups up, I do apologies. As stated above I tried to avoid been the cause of up sets by staying near the back and moving out the way when I felt I could no longer hang in there..... I must say other then that first climb(Which sucked big time) the route was well enjoyable and I feel I would have actually done much better if I had correctly paced myself up the climb.

At least if you have entered online you can collect your number at the venue on the morning of the ride and not have to drive out to fourways on thursday to collect.....
