  1. BUMP. Any ideas of other sites that this notice can be posted?
  2. Bump.
  3. Howzit Wheelsuck. I would think that bikes like this Maverick are not too common in SA- had never seen one before myself. I guess that the owner is not a Hubber, so it will depend on the network to get the word out, so come on guys......
  4. *BUMP*
  5. Thanks Eraser. You can help by bumping this every now and then as well because I can't spend much time on line. Wsquared, any luck today?
  6. For all the night Hubbers. BUMP.
  7. Bump.
  8. I'm in Mozambique.
  9. I knew it wasn't MJ Harker's bike because he could not tell me what the speacial features were. There are 3 main ones, with one of the them being the name badge on the head set which is unique to each bike (other than the serial no). So if one of your customers can tell you that his Maverick, going by the name of X, was stolen, let me know, I will check it. I don't know if Mavericks come standard with this groupset, or with the other features, but its long travel, probably a downhill bike. There should be a data base of owners.... And BTW, thanks for caring.
  10. I haven't seen a road bike up here for a long time. A few MTB's are still coming up but they are cheap, low end and old. But occasionally a beauty gets its way here, like Intern's Specialised, Kleintjie's Trek and Wheelsuck's Felt Virtue, all in the top end, and all reunited. Now this Maverick. I reckon its unlikely that bikes stolen in CT will end up here.

    Elevation

Where I ride is as flat as a snooker table, there and back ride of 33,5km as a speed trial. But my Polar indicates altitude gains of from 0 to 50m on different days. I think its got to do with the temperature variance during the ride affecting the barometric pressure, which is how the Polar measures altitude.
  12. Good on ya Tumbleweed. Come on everybody- follow T's example. With some luck we can reunite the bike with its owner.
  13. It depends also on your type of riding. If you're into racing and speed, a smaller frame, I have been told, is better. Its more agile around the tracks.
  14. Yep- lets hope it ends well.
  15. Early morning bump.
  16. Hmmm- I substituted Giant Trance X with GT Marathon (my bike), and the rest of your write up sounded as if you were writing about my bike. Sorry- couldn't resist that. Yours is truly an ode of love to your bike. Well done, and welcome to the Hub with a great 1st post.
  17. There's a Maverick in the village. I saw it some time ago, then it disappeared- its still here. It isn't MJ Harker's bike. He posted a stolen Maverick, but its not the same one. This one has a couple of features that I've never seen on a bike. Spread the word. Quick. I don't know how long it will be around.
  18. Try this one. TEAM RABOBANK has a secret: During the Tour de France, there has been something unusual splashing around in their drink bottles. No, it wasn't the latest BALCO chemistry experiment. And it had no label or brand. It was a home-brewed concoction so powerful it may well change how athletes drink for the most grueling endurance races. Best of all, the recipe is so simple you can make it in your kitchen. The mystery drink defies long-held training dogma. Until recently, sports nutritionists had been unequivocal: Your body can absorb only so much sugar (read: energy), and that limit is 60 grams per hour. No matter how many gels and cups of Gatorade you suck down, your body can burn only about one gram of sugar per minute, with the rest just sloshing around in your gut and possibly causing problems. (Porta-Potty, anyone?) But in 2002, Asker Jeukendrup, a 38-year-old Dutch nutritionist, triathlete, and Team Rabobank consultant, made an intriguing discovery. In his lab at England's University of Birmingham, cyclists drank a syrupy cocktail of two different sugars—glucose and fructose—blended in a two-to-one ratio. Jeukendrup's theory was that the cyclists' bodies would use independent systems to digest each sugar, so the cumulative energy uptake would be greater than what you'd get with a single sugar. And he was right. Test subjects were able to burn through 75 grams of carbs per hour, with subsequent studies achieving rates as high as 105 grams per hour—75 percent more than what had ever been measured. Now for the make your own at home part..... Jeukendrup's hydration recipe: ½ cup maltodextrin 6 ½ tsp fructose ¼-½ tsp table salt Combine in one liter of water, shake, and serve! If it's good enough science for PowerBar then I figure it's good enough to share with hubbers (no flaming the messenger please ) In 2006, PowerBar reformulated its line of drinks and gels based on Jeukendrup's science. (The company started funding his research earlier this year (2007).)
  19. They showed this on Sky News. Cav is likely out of the TdF as a result of the injuries he brought upon himself here- so much for the green jersey- up in a puff of smoke, just because he wanted to pig out on another win by shunting off his line. What a tosser for depriving himself from the Tour. Cheeezz....
  20. Hey guys, you gotta take a look at this.... Its better than the ladies and bikes flesh thread. http://eliflap.blog.aruba.it/
  21. Welcome Eliflap. Hope you stay on the Hub for many years, contributing with your expertise.

So when do you use the wine? Before' date=' during or after [/quote'] the bottle is open. So clearly it doesnt matter if it was before during or after - but when are you getting a new one. Yang - how do you dispose of your paraffin polluted water ? I'm normally under the alfluence of incohol while I'm on the Hub. I place some braai logs under the groupset to catch the dripping parafin. I wash my bike in an expanse of concrete brick paving. Then the wash off (cleen green and water) goes onto the brick paving and through the gaps. Not ideal, but the best I can do. The only saving grace is that the amount of parafin is probably no more than 100ml's, of which a lot falls onto the logs anyway. The wash away contains very little parafin after its dripped on the logs and soaked away the grime in the chain.
  24. Actually, yes- they clear my sinuses, so I breathe easier and improve my oxygen intake. I used to keep snakes as a kid, but seeing a puffie or a mamba crossing the track still gives me an adrenalin rush.
