  1. I have been in retail and the number 1 rule is always to ask every client if they need help. Not only is it good customer service but it is also good for stick loss. No one is just browsing - there is always a high chance that if helped they will make a purchase. Sometimes browsers are fussy customers who have lots of money to spend and just need help spending it.
  2. I have been there on a dead quiet day and had bad service. But then I have been there on a hectic day and had amazing service. Suppose it depends on which staff members are there - the young fattie kid is slow and never helps. Flemish Lion - he is sharing an experience and has the right to share bad service. It is his right. Last week we were talking about another LBS, this week this one. Thanks Saffer for sharing.
  3. Hey Di, have you considered the Kyalami thing? 100% safe, Smooth road, NO cars, like minded people, completely and < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 12"><> Accurately repeatable rides, a great way to measure improvement as you don't have to slow for cars, taxis, taxis robots, taxis, poepals, taxi poepals, a killer hill and a lekker downhill. I have but the times I have made an effort to go out there it has been closed to cyclists. Will stick to IDT and bike park for the week. My major issue is weekends but I am sorting that out thanks to this topic.

    Degreasing

Okay, so I need to clean 3 bikes tomorrow and its not something I am good at. I heard a few years ago that paraffin works as a good degreaser for chain and cassette. Is this true? Is there something else that is good and cheap? Thanks
  5. Been there!! Not lekker!! Except that I stayed with the other company! Lots of legal stuff and a nightmare. Be glad you are in the startup but avoid anything that smells fishy! Just check.. but you worked for company x, now you work for company y. Company x can claim that you absconded. Thats what happened where I worked. They cant force you to change company - therefore your leave stuff should stay the same.
  6. Can do Sat after 11 for a nice 3hr + ride. Sunday I promised da friends I would ride with them - been about 6years since I have ridden with them.
  7. Hmmm.... 110km? One day or over 2 days? I need to get in a 3hour road ride (pref) on Sat. Anytime after 11 is cool for me. Sunday, riding with some old friends.

    My bikes

Mr and Mrs Specialized!! Make a pretty couple!
  9. Hey Nancy, where are you?? your view is always handy. BTW... you ride the spruit solo?? Darn!! You got kahunas!
  10. try: joining a club - morning rides of varying length' date=' difficulty 365 days a year. cycling at kyalami, open 4 days a week early evenings spinning MTB parks track (?) IDT Tazers, mace etc are very unlikely to help a single person against a group (usually armed) of muggers. [/quote'] I am a club member but on weekends I cant ride in the mornings that often - once or twice a year only. Weekday rides are too late for me Everytime I go to Kyalami its closed Spinning - go sometimes but not for when I need long ride time MTB Park - same reason as above Track - are you insane????????? IDT - same as above - I will fall asleep if I ride for 3hrs indoor (plus I think my dog may start peeing on the bike from boredom) Basically, other than the constructive comments like inviting others to join those of us who have little other choice and to be careful, we will remain those solo gals and guys who you see out riding.
  11. You can... round and round da block with all the dronkies watching
  12. nancy's had the same issue' date=' and she got told off here for riding the spruit alone. ok, i'm a dude, and i nearly always ride alone, but i stick to places and routes that i know are safe. at least let someone know where you're going and when you should be back and check in with them when you do. [/quote'] Good idea. I generally dont ride mtb alone - especially the spruit. Although I do go to Northern Farm and the Bike Park alone. Usually ride road alone - most of time. My rides often stick to certain areas but not often the same roads. My riding partners usually go out in the am whilst my schedule only allows for afternoons. So cant rely on them - hence my solo attempts.
  13. Okay... so here is a girlie question.... what do I do when I need to train and none of my cycling friends are training on that day or at that time? IDT? Did that 3 days of the week and a 3hour ride on the IDT will not only put my dog to sleep but me aswell. Or do I not go out? Sorry... coming across a little harsh but its a good question in my opinion.
  14. PRETTY!!
  15. Go for it!! I keep wondering how those guys stay in business!
  16. Whats the diff between the pepto pro / protein gels and the normal gels?
  17. Di' date=' please post or PM the their contact details as it looks like I'm buying a spare d?railleur because the Shimano agents are a bunch of incompetent #@$%ers. [/quote'] Started a topic specially for you lot! Surprised Kurtis has not shared these details - he called for them the other day!!
  18. Achtar is something they eat. His name is Arshad!! Nope Atchar is something you eat . Achtar is the guy at Solomons in Woodmead .
  19. Bike Porn!! All round prettyness!
  20. I agree about FPC - went in late last year to get some rim tape put on my new rims and new tubes put in. Took 50mins!! They had me standing around all that time. They had told me it was a quick job. If that is quick then eish!! They have zero idea about customer service.
