  1. My wife is gonna hurt me when I get another bike..
  2. close but not actually at Hakahana - at the existing hartebeespoort cableway
  3. Wheelbuilder - here on bikehub - alternately donate them to one of the disadvantaged race clubs like diepsloot.
  4. If it never dries out it will be great inside road bike tubes.
  5. The DHR2 has pretty square edges - so getting used to the sudden transition when it got leaned over was a bit disconcerting in the beginning but I seem to have got used to it. Aggressor on the rear looks like a good option - DD casing for sure if it's rocky but does have a weight penalty.
  6. Looks good - well done. I think every man with some diy skills does this once in a lifetime... and if they are smart never again... like building/buying a house with wooden windows....
  7. Check out the furniture on this site - really cool bike storage stuff and dead easy to do - harder to convince my wife.. http://chol1.cl/en/
  8. I also need to get better at it... but it's useful - more useful than my wife trying to describe something she wants built.... in words....
  9. Nope - definitely the same manufacturer but a 4 spoke wheel from memory - they alternately cursed each other and their wheel supplier in German over a few stages where we rode in close proximity - then they disappeared from our start group - but we did chat to them at registration about the wheels and later in camp the problems they were having (my partner is very fluent in German). I really don't think trispoke type wheels are suitable for multi day racing - maybe for XCE they would be fine for the all or nothing type of racing that is.
  10. Saw some of their wheels at Epic last year... broken by about day 4.
  11. I have been running guides since they came out - no issues really - only some sticky pistons that were resolved under warrantee locally. In general they have been trouble free - thus I want to put the codes on my new el cheapo dh bike...
  12. I thought about them but couldn't find any locally either.
  13. Luckily my best mate is an architect - and I have a copy of some other tools too - been playing with autodesk fusion 360 a bit
  14. They would be about half the total cost of the bike... mmm - probably not...
  15. It is dimensioned in SK - but not presented on screen - I am not going to bother with that seeing as I am building it myself - and I am not paying for the bits that allow me to print it either - being strictly an amateur.
  16. Yup - I could do that but I want the open long members identical with the end of the open member as female pieces for attachments - it's also easier to align and drill the holes on identical members.... (somehow that all sounds wrong ) I got lazy on drawing the connections but there is a way to make the slats perfecty flat without worrying to much about the frame's accuracy. So as to not keep you in suspense... here are the instructions.... have fun,.. but I don't need his level of accuracy... 0.1mm is fine for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjaSy_SmYsQ
  17. Anyone know who stocks or has a set of SRAM Code R or RS brakes? https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/products/code-r#sm.0001v2fy121d67daxtngcd4vgxix6
  18. They are indeed worth the effort to make sometimes - I am in progress with building a welding table top for myself (well - I have bought most of the material) - but other things keep getting in the way. But I have at least drawn up what I am going to build.
  19. build a saw guide for your angle grinder so that it looks like a portable circular saw- you can just clamp a piece of wood to the line and run the blade against it - but hang on to the grinder if it gets away from you it's a very dangerous thing. You will also find the thinner the grinder blade the faster and easier it cuts - So a 1mm 115 blade is easier to manage than a 4mm 355 blade. Don't forget goggles and gloves too. Pinterest and YouTube have good examples of how to build the bits for the grinder
  20. I have seen 480 standing still.... for all that it is surprisingly good over a 2 hour ride - compared well to my powertap.
  21. I have one - for the bikes without proper power meters - works surprisingly well on sustained efforts - NOT so good on short efforts and when stopped at light... Worth having I Think .
  22. And 50 000 USD..... Is another good one - this one I like the look of more.
  23. Personally I like this one.... damn clever
  24. I dropped past my local hw store - he has Torkcraft pipe clamps - R495 I guess anyone who stocks Torkcraft should be able to get - try strandhardware.co.za for online - they are in PE or bidorbuy.co.za - there is a seller there who sells lots of their stuff. https://www.bidorbuy.co.za/jsp/tradesearch/TradeSearch.jsp - just put pipe clamp in the search
  25. I can check tomorrow at my local store where I bought them - let you know when done
