  1. Like I said in a previous comment - the anti doping rules are sports rules... not medical rules - the doc is not a sports referee and should not be forced into being one because then they might act contrary to the patients best medical interests by for eg not prescribing the best drugs for the condition but rather one that is within the rules- what would happen if the patient died as a result of using the less effective medication that is within the rules? Who takes the fall for that? See - not so easy to simply put the onus on the medic - Far better for the medic to be totally independent and only concern themselves with the patients well being.
  2. Always going to be a difficult call to make - on some races like the Cape Epic this is effectively in place - they just hospitalise the patient overnight... it would be a miracle to get yourself out on time for the start the next day unless you released yourself AMA. I suspect they also have some more control during the CE but it will be a difficult call - doctors are not policemen and you might for instance let a patient go back to their accomodation overnight for instance with an instruction to return in the am for further assessment... what happens if they don't come back and carry on? I am pretty sure it can be done but there would have to be clear clinical criteria set and rules in place - not going to be easy at all.
  3. Wouldn't be the first bike sponsor to support their athletes - see the support David George and then Kevin Evans got from Scott... until the lies were discovered... The above does not imply anything about Ty's issues - it's just a reminder...
  4. I am not going to second guess why what drugs were chosen when and by whom for what purpose... It would be of academic and legal interest only - pretty sure that will be addressed in an appeal - doesn't take responsibility away from the athlete however.
  5. True - you did- mostly my point is about anti doping being specifically NOT the medics concern at all. The medics concern must be ONLY the well being of the patient - this clearly has to be ethically applied - and in the case of a team doctor/team medical staff, very carefully too - but in the case of race emergency medical staff - anti doping concerns should be the least of their problems - to be blunt they should ignore anti doping regs completely to provide the best possible medical care to the patient.
  6. Its a glucocorticiod - there are many uses....
  7. See my comment on whose medication rules the anti doping rules are..... and if you read the anti doping rules, you will notice the athlete is responsible for what they take.... I treat patient/athletes as they need to be treated medically - they can choose to follow or not follow my advice at their own risk - and this includes withdrawing from a race, or asking for a TUE form to be completed at the time. Remember - there is no course at medical school that qualifies a doctor on the contents of the restricted drug list.... they are NOT obliged to know at all - and actually in my opinion, should not care what is on the list - just treat the patient appropriately for their condition.
  8. The RIDER is responsible for what medication he/she takes - NOTHING to do with the medics who treat him - they treat his medical condition as MEDICALLY appropriate - anti doping rules are sports rules - NOT medical rules - and the medic is only obliged to treat the patient to the best of their ability - in point of fact I would not be surprised at all if a recommendation was made to the athlete to not continue participation in the event due to their medical condition - fortunately. medics are also NOT POLICEMEN, and often patients continue on Against Medical Advice...... As much as I like Ty - he knows it's his responsibility to check what he takes before he takes it - and he does take responsibility for it - all he can do really is ask for a reduction in penalty on some kind of basis - such as not being in full command of his senses at the time due to his medical condition (perhaps somewhat understandable) - as a mitigating factor for the penalty The only person to blame here is Ty - unless the medic made a mistake about what they treated him with and actually gave him an incorrect drug (not the one the meant to give him - so opened the wrong packet basically - and somehow didn't notice).
  9. The week before Epic.... too much risk...
  10. Concealing a crime is of itself a crime.... So attending a meeting and remaining silent means concealment and therefore guilty.... of something anyway.... But the consumer will pay the fine in the end... the local distributors rip the ring out of pricing... In a big way... local prices are sometimes 60% or more higher than international prices... including shipping... kind of hard to explain that... my eagle xo1 upgrade cost me r9930.... local price over 15k when you add a chainring - even on special....
  11. I can lend you a 2 cup bialetti to play with too...
  12. There is a thread - search a bit and you should find it.
  13. I hope that is a mini gun if you are planning to spray a frame - full size gun just wastes a lot of paint and hard to manage on tubing - too much paint and it sags quickly. You really only need a touchup gun for frames - 0.7 tip size works best for me, and 1.0 for spray filler - but I prefer to not use spray filler - epoxy primer is better if there is no fill needed. Those tip sizes on a full size gun equate to about 1.2 and 1.8

  15. Please go for a checkup with a cardiologist - it is possible you have developed a cardiac issue (pericarditis or myocarditis ) as a result - this is a known issue and needs to be investigated further- you should not be feeling this poorly for so long post infection in the absence of related issues.
  16. I followed bluebottle coffee shop instructions as a start . https://bluebottlecoffee.com/preparation-guides/chemex Worked ok for me - but just how coarse sea salt is is at best guesswork...
  17. more coffee needed is my guess - how did you come up with 20g as a start point? Chemex is never going to be espresso though
  18. You only have to do that once...... and it doesn't have to run real well while they do it either....
  19. Dulux.... exterior specialist something or other expensive rubbish..... next time I am going to try something else - something a contractor mate recommends from a smallish paint factory - can't remember the name...
  20. Let me show you a dulux brown/grey colour called old fishing doc.... lasts 3 years max... then ALL the balustrades need painting.... and man is that a long winded job.... given I have about 50m of the stuff.... upstairs balcony's seemed a good idea at the time - needless to say they don't really get used for anything else than hanging out washing occasionally.
  21. Helped me just explain which walls got which approximate color... saved my already short patience... Do yourself a favor and go at least 2 shade lighter than any color a wife picks.... right off the bat....
  22. https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/the-dulux-visualizer-app Works better than expected....
