  1. That's just not feasible. These are essentially legal proceedings, with peoples's entire livelihoods on the line. You (as a pro defending yourself) don't just rush into a hearing with a half-baked story... Pretty sure it took the defence team months of hard work to find the source of the ingestion and put a case together. Ever think that maybe Impy delayed the hearing a few weeks to make sure his case was solid?
  2. Never mind that there are no criminal charges... That cop will be using all of his meagre salary to pay civil damages for the rest of his life. The family will likely sue to the State police too for wrongful death. Lost income for COO and "prominant lawyer" probably = $ millions..
  3. I am actually blown away by CRC at the moment... I needed a specific item, which Buycyle.co.za listed as being in stock (suprisingly, as it's quite a rare item in SA). Having been burnt by Buycylce a few times previously for ordering items listed as being "in stock", which then in fact weren't and took 3+ weeks for them to source and deliver, I sent Buycycle a message to confirm that its was in stock... Of course it wasn't, but they at least offered to contact the local agent and get back to me.... still waiting a number of days later. Yesterday I happened to be brousing CRC and found the exact item I need on sale (35% off - bonus!). Found a few other items I need on sale (all 30-45% off) so decided to just place an order, and spring the R200ish for DHL shipping. Placed order yesterday at 10h24. Received an email from CRC at 16h02 saying order has been dispatched. SMS at 00h24 this morning from DHL saying package it has arrived in the country. DHL phones me 08h30 this morning and emails with clearance payment details. Paid, and should recieve my order later today or tomorrow. Wish SA online retailers could provide this kind of service...

    Zipp 808

When in doubt, ask the internet, or Zipp... Check your wheels and hubs against these: http://zipp.com/support/identify/wheel_timeline.php http://zipp.com/support/identify/hub_timeline.php
  6. Yes, but this relates to aerodynamics, not weight. In time trialling / triathlon, aero is a much bigger factor than weight in terms of watts/time saved. e.g over an Ironman bike course (180km) losing 500g would gain me approximately 20s, shaving my legs (according to specialized) would save 4.5 minutes!
  7. Mine in her latest guise...
  8. That said, I would probably go with a Fennix if i were to buy a new Garmin...
  9. Suunto Ambit 2 all the way... I love mine. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/04/suunto-ambit2-review.html Get the 2 if your are going to do Ironman, 2S if you are only doing shorter stuff (up to 9hrs). If you are set on a Garmin, the 910xt is nearly 3 years old and rumours are that a new model will be out soon, so I would hold out for the new model (or get the 910xt when the new model is released and prices for the 910 drop)
  10. Brilliant, just what I need to spend R1,000 on!
  11. Phew - good! sounded like it only got 'cleaned' every few months...
  12. Jeez - cassettes needs to be cleaned way more often than redoing wheel bearings!
  13. Read this thread, and inparticular the PDF doc attached in there somewhere by Johann Borman... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/109516-the-great-chaincassettegears-thread/
  14. Its official - fully wireless...
  15. Ah yes, the old "forgot to stop recording before jumping in the car to drive home but saved the ride anyway" trick...
  16. Ok, this is going to quickly turn to a debate about whether you should get a normal road bike, or a tri (TT) bike.... This is an extremely difficult debate, and virtually impossible to answer until you've done a few traithlons and know whether you want to take the sport seriously and do longer events such as the half or full Ironman in future. My suggestion is to get a cheap road bike (R5-6k) that you can use for triathlons and the odd road race. If you later decide to take the sport more seriously, you can always upgrade to a good TT bike and sell the road bike, or keep it as a second training bike like I do. But I would not invest in a high end bike (whether road or TT) until you've done a few triathlons. If you're like most of us the tri bug will bite hard and you'll probably end up upgrading to a TT bike in a year or two's time...
  17. ISM Adamo. Enough said. I use the "Road" version on both my road and TT bikes.
  18. Haha.. image the pros suddenly shifting into 53/11 gear halfway up!
  19. If you say my handle in Afrikaans you get close!
  20. SRAM apparently have filed patents for an electronic MTB group too...
  21. Sho, tough crowd...
  22. If you can swim and have an average bike, running won't be an issue to finish. For example, for Ironman you can walk the marathon in 9+ hours if you have a decent swim and bike and still finish... ok, a bit extreme but you get the idea. Just learn to run the full distance that you will be running in the race at a comfortable pace, and do a few bike / run sessions to learn what it feels like to run on tired legs after riding. As Grondpad says - 6min / km on a 10km is about middle of the field, in not upper half.
  23. Couldn't find any other topis on this... apologies if there are... Looks like it will be WIRELESS too! (read the second link) http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/05/gallery/spotted-sram-electronic-drivetrain_327147 http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/article/analysis-sram-wireless-electronic-group-41023/ I'm a SRAM fan, so excited
  24. Someone pls tweet or post on supersport Facebook page what f-ing idiot puts on two add breaks in the last 2 minutes of the race so that we miss the finish. F me!
