  1. 300 Sounds a lot from inside Europe , surely like Ryan Air or Air Lingus would have some super good specials I paid R9105 for Return Tickets to Amsterdam Via Dubai from JHB for my Wife and Myself... R4552 each through Discovery.. Edit....sorry read it again, 300 includes flights, race and stay....
  2. Pull IN, no-one ever regrets going to Amsterdam.. 75Euro entry.. thought it was pretty reasonable
  3. That's AWESOME, I'm doing Amsterdam marathon the week before on the 21st October... No Club Kits or anything needed at International Marathons, as Much SA Flag gear as possible.. I did London in 2017 in the attached vest, got plenty support The wife and I aim to do 1 different international marathon a year for the next 10 years... 2019 is New York..
  4. Final Little Leg loosener Yesterday@ RAC10km for Stu and Myself, 20 Days...
  5. 2012/2013 Back to Back... 2014 Took a year off to give Epic a bash.... 2015/2016.... forced year off 2 Ups and 2 Downs 2018 will be my 5th... nice round number Also not sure how many more ill do, so many other cool sporting events in SA to get involved in..
  6. Sub 7 or sub 12 , same 90kms, same rules apply The Down run is only Down after 54kms... Don't go off too fast... the first 22kms are BRUTAL.. and can end your race. I plan to average sub4.40s for the day but I wont be much under 4.50 average at 20kms.. 1min made up on the first 22kms will be 3mins lost in finish time. Walk, but walk on your own terms, whether its 90secs every hour like I do (I try and do them on the base of the big named hills) or 60sec walk every 10mins it doesn't matter... If you are walking on your own plan it doesn't feel like your race is unravelling... Keep moving forward, don't ever go backwards on course, there are water points every 1.5-2kms in the second half, if you miss something wait for the next one... As Stretch says... Respect Tradition, Say Good Morning to Arthur... Sing the national anthem, No one is bigger than this race..
  7. Yeah Well done Lexx, how you followed last nights TT with another speed session this morning I don't know... Thanks Stretch... first week of May 8km TT is always my Tester... Surprised myself to be honest after not being able to do any Track or speed intervals since the last week of Feb with all the niggles.... Only 7 secs off my 2016 Time on same date and course. So super chuffed with that. Now to stay healthy and fit for 29 more days...
  8. And just to make it a Bit tougher they decide to add another 1km on just for fun.. 4.38 per km ave now needed for sub7
  9. I see the algorithm literally takes your Average pace per km over the last 4 weeks running and Multiplies it by 91kms.. Very scientific...
  10. Us (Edgar, myself and a small group of us) Vaalies are heading seawards this weekend to do the Route tester 60km from PMB to Hillcrest as our last Long run... Will be weird missing Colgate though, for the last 4 years its been my last 30km jog before the big C.
  11. Good Job... I put in my best week in 3 years and Stu still managed to Pip me... 2 more decent weeks and a nice 4 weeks taper is coming...
  12. Hey Lexx, well run at Loskop, Saw from your splits you must have been very close to us a lot of the way? Our 3h59 went out the window early as we ticked out sub4.40kms.... we had a nice Wanderers Bus that stayed together start to finish with Stu and a few others, went through halfway in just under 1h57 and then had a good 1h50 second half for 3h47.. Great conditions though
  13. T7s were the best Marathon Racing shoe ever made - IMHO Cant believe they made them end of range and replaced them with the Brooks Hyperion Not in the same league in my opinion
  14. Join the Wanderers Train, it should be a good day out
  15. Definitely Not.... I'm not on the same level as Stu right now, hopefully the next 8 weeks will get me back fighting fit.. Am Looking forward to my First Loskop though, a little 3h59 training run...
  16. Yeah I know your coach well, also not afraid of some Decent Mileage.. Stu is a machine at the moment, me not so much. Had a very average Two Oceans and suffering this year with a lot more niggles than usual. Not sure if its still stemming from the Femur break but its pretty frustrating. Haven't done a 100km week since late Feb..
  17. On 1413kms on April the 6th and NOT focusing on Mileage... HCM
  18. No Chance, I've done some strava stalking and you should be sub8 this year... sub8.30 on a bad day. Your training is going a hell of a lot better than mine so far
  19. Will hit 1200kms today, looking to finish between 2050-2150 depending on my niggles and build up.
  20. She (CW) ran Deloitte 42km a few weeks back but pretty slowly for her around 4hrs so not sure what's up Gerda on the other hand is flying... I ran Bronkhorstspruit 32km with her from start to finish and she is looking so strong and easy.. with her 2h37 marathon and a string of easy sub78 half's she has to be on to podium. Not sure she can beat Camille Heron just yet on both their best days but I would say she is definitely on for a top2/3.
  21. Plan is to race Two Oceans in March, and a chilled Loskop in April Comrades Route tester 60km early May, and I'm done... Apart from those 3 nothing more over 36kms in a single run..
  22. Thanks Stretch, I think I got pretty lucky with the Ortho surgeon that was on call that Saturday night was hit. Never had any issues with the plate or screws or the 2nd surgery in March to remove them. I've heard horror stories of people that weren't as lucky with the same distal femur break I had and were never able to return back to competitive sport . Mine was exactly 351 days from ICU on 1 October to running 2h49 at Cape Town Marathon last September.. I count my lucky stars.. But the drunken cock who jumped a stop street and hit me also got lucky, docket lost and got off Scott free.
  23. Yeah same guy.. Broken Femur 1st October 2016... Plenty plenty rehab. Swimming/Watt Biking by December 2017, Started walking Jan 2017, jogging (on alterG treadmill) Feb 2017... running July 2017... Been a Long 17 Months but pretty much back to about 90% of where I was.
  24. By the look of your Current progress I think I'm gonna be chasing you down to Durban... Superb Run Saturday... and by the fact you were GoPro'ing the whole run I think you still have a lot in the tank..
  25. Haha, That's me... Nah the plan was always a 3h10 Training Run.. We went through halfway in 93.40 and then gradually picked it up.. We were never clock watching or particularly chasing Sub3 until the last km and then even a 3.35 last km wasn't enough. Love that route and race.. best tester in JHB to get you ready for Two Oceans.
