  1. The Extra Weekly Smoothie for 2 Friends hitting targets ended in October 2017 So no extra Smoothie's for anyone anymore it was replaced by the hit 3 targets in a row and get a Bonus Spin Surprise Reward.... which pretty much ends up being a free smoothie anyway (think I got a R150 voucher once)
  2. While your at it please send me the above details as well, the peaks look super comfy and well designed.
  3. Don't let facts get in the way of a good story... Yeah I think around 2400 odd m...
  4. I'm 40 in 2 weeks... Think the Full Skyrun may be in order to celebrate...
  5. Yep never ever... especially when you have done elevation corrections... haha I'm the same, January to June is all about Two Oceans and Comrades... then I take July off and August onwards is to focus on 1 Fast marathon (as the next years qualifier) and 1 Ultra Trail late in the year..
  6. Its a superb weekend away.. so well organized and great people... and even better beer.. Done the 38km once and now the 50km once... that 2nd Climb is pretty Brutal but well worth it.
  7. Monties is on my Bucket List for 2018... usually miss its as its always 1 week before CT marathon, but want to do a fast International marathon next November so can skip CT.
  8. Yeah me too, I know the main importer of Brooks very well, and there is not a single US9 available in this country. We have both looked.. Cos if there was I would have bought every last pair in my size.. Cant believe some Brands will drop a shoe that is so popular...The new Hyperion is decent but nowhere near the responsiveness of the T7.
  9. He Wishes.. a sub18 5km at the moment is a proper push.. Leg just hasn't quite been the same "leg speed wise" since the Break but Ill get there.. all about Comrades 2018... Lesotho Ultra Trail 50km this weekend should give it a proper test... 3000m VA in 50kms, going to be fun....
  10. More Impressive than the 2h37 was her splits.. 1h20.58 through half and a 76h08 last half... BLITZ She ran the last 7 at pretty much 3.30s That shows she can go much quicker...
  11. I did a few Club Runs with Gerda after her 2015 7h15 breakthrough.. she didn't have a sub3 marathon at that time....the leaps and bounds she has made since then are unbelievable.. Personally I don't think Ann is fast enough to cope with this new crop.. She has a 2h48 Downhill marathon PB ( I stand to be corrected).. On their Day Camille/ Caroline and Gerda should be way too fast.. they all now have 2h37 marathon Pbs ... And I personally know the LEAP from a 2h47 marathon to a Sub2h40 is MASSIVE.. I rate Ann for a Gold but it would take some serious blow ups for her to podium IMHO. The New Massmart team however did take the top 3 spots at Kaapsehoop Marathon (all 2h52-2h55) so they are already an improving team.
  12. Yeah the Best. Cant believe Brooks dropped them from their offering. I had 3 pairs over the past 3 years and searched everywhere for a new pair this August. I ended up doing CT Marathon in the Brooks Hyperions (the T7 Replacement) but they nowhere near as nice/responsive. Closest I can find to the T7 in a Racer with regards to the 10-12mm Heel drop and Weight (sub190g) is the New Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% (the sub2 project mass prototype) but at R3800 not sure I want to go there..
  13. Yep Alan Robb ran in the Tigers.. I suppose its what you are used to.. I like running in a Light responsive shoe.. So I will race a Marathon in the Brooks T7s or Hyperian's that sit at 178-185g So stepping up to the 230g Boston's on my long stuff feels well supportive for me.. But it is all relative to time on the feet.. Ill race a marathon in 2h45, there is no chance I could run 4hrs in a T7.. I honesty feel I would be 20-30secs per km slower over Comrades (30mins) if I ran in something like a 350g Nimbus.. But then I do weigh around 65kgs
  14. In the end I ordered her another pair of her trusty Bostons from Poobie, which arrived the next day. Still on the hunt for a good ultra shoe for her though. Nothing wrong with the Bostons for Ultras if you are reasonably Lightweight I ran my last 2 Comrades in the Adios Boston Boosts.... And I'm considering even going slightly lighter with the Adizero Boost next year for the down..
  15. Good Point, Id also like to know if the Foot Pod and Belt analytics read very differently I've used the Left/Right Contact Time a lot on my recovery to see the discrepancy narrowing Will also Consult DC
  16. You don't need the Footpod.. Just the HR belt with Running Analytics on it.. Same belt but has a little white stick figure Runner picture on the main central pod. If you have that belt with the Fenix 3 you will get all the analytics on Garmin connect. Attached Image of belt
  17. So Both average of 160, which shows even though for some strides you attempted to force the cadence (steps per minute) to 190 the natural always went back to 160. and the 1.04 shows that even when you increased cadence you held the same stride length which in essence would make you faster.. 160 spm x 1.04= 166.4m per Minute = 6min per km 191 spm x 1.04 = 198.6m per Minute = 5.02 per km at your fastest.. Take my Track session, 10 x 400m intervals from yesterday The Warm up I was ave 186spm @ ave 1.19m Stride length = 219.5m per Min = 4.40 per km On Fastest 400m Last rep - 69secs - ave 201spm @ ave 1.76m = 353.7m per Minute = 2.48 per km Over a raced 21km/Marathon I would generally be at 185-190spm @ 1.36-1.40m Ave Stride Length
  18. And 11 to CT.... How's the ITB ScottC-M?
  19. Think we discussed this a while ago But the Long and short of it , excuse the pun, is Both The aim is to increase the stride length and the RPM (steps per minute). Thus you will be going further per step and doing more steps per minute thus covering ground a lot faster.. ie running faster. However going out and actively trying to increase both can be unnatural and cause issues with your gait so needs to be worked on slowly. Track Training intervals is a good place to try and work on this. Its flat so downhill will not influence the stride length and its short periods at a time that wont hurt the gait.
  20. No I cut my losses on Friday, went on these Classifieds in 3mins, paid and subbed... Insane the demand for Epic entries. Only really entered Epic cos I thought it may take me a year or 2 to get running again properly. But things have progressed better than expected and a sub7 comrades is more NB to me than suffering around another EPIC. and my partner was swerving a little too. aaaaaand I'm not getting any younger. And an Oceans silver has always been on my bucket list and was 1 week after Epic. So a Double silver 2018 is the plan... watch this space... looking to get my A seeding out of the way next Sunday.
  21. Yep I'm IN And CT marathon next weekend, who is joining me in CT?
  22. I've done it 3 x , last time in 2015, very cool race, tough first half nice finish either way round. Cool festival as well with some good Cherry Beer.
  23. Think id rather take 89.2kms with a few extra Ups in the last 8kms, then 92.5kms with a extra 2.5km jog from Kingsmead to MM at the end..
