  1. Wow Dirk, you are a valuable source of info. And, 2 posts, both adverts! I have a fit scheduled for tomorrow, no, not with Dirk.
  2. @Anine, Yup, it has 3 settings. This is my 2nd pair this year after I smashed one on a rock . They are awesome. I love the extra 2 degrees of float, and that I can pedal even if I dont get clipped in first time. Oh, and mud.... what mud?
  3. Awesome! Thanks Mike
  4. Hiya Does anybody know if route 3 markings are good at the moment, I want to give it a try on Sunday?
  5. It allows you to set the release tension.
  6. Try and stretch to the XS if you can. The mechanism is the same though, and I swear there is no better mechanism. Even the eggbeater uses the same idea ("floating" horizontal bars), just not as well.
  7. Excellent! Thanks folks!
  8. What does it mean when cassette is available in two combinations: 11-32 and 11-34. And how does one know which to buy?
  9. So what would be better Andro?
  10. Hey Nige, how are the EA90's doing? Are the hubs any good, and do you know if they seal properly?
  11. That happens, but its usually so seldom that it isnt an issue in the bigger picture.
  12. On pedals: Why eggbeaters, more chance of pressure issues because of smaller contact point. No matter what manufacturer says what, SPD's have trouble with mud (especially when it is walked into the bottom of the shoe. That is something i HATED about them. That and the amount of float etc are why I moved to Time pedals. In the x years of riding with them I have NEVER had a mud problem and they are more comfortable than any pedal I have ever ridden with. Just got my 3rd set yesterday.
  13. Can spokes be re-used? If I buy new hubs can I just swap out the hubs, or does it need rebuilding with new spokes?
  14. Either stick with my Alex SX44's or perhaps the DRC ST18's -
  15. Thanks and to Chevaughn too.
  16. That is exactly what made me wonder, because it is unusual not to get something to confirm.
  17. Im thinking that perhaps what I should do at the moment is: Get new Hope Hubs Use the existing rims Have it all hand built Then if time comes, I will upgrade the rims and re-build again later. What do you think?
  18. Do you know anything about DRC ST18 rims?
  19. Probably not yet, but hopefully one day. Both would be nice. Im about 86kg's and I sometimes ride into obstacles and not around them (XC)
  20. Go and troll elsewhere pratt
  21. Hi, and thanks. Yes, I have multiple e-mail addresses, but I have not received confirmation at any of them. Also, please note that I do not generally go about putting that address on public forums. I will send a mail from that specific address in a few minutes.
  22. Mmmmm. Let me put it like this. Im not an expert rider so do I shell out lots of money for custom built with "lower" quality or "budget friendly" parts, or lots of money on a super sexy wheelset, and then if and when It has trouble get it re-built by said expert using those parts? Can anybody comment on the quality of the hubs in the Eastons for eg?
  23. Im doing it, but as a social thing with a few people in a challenge. I dont expect these kinds of events to be special experiences in terms of route etc, if I want that I go alone or with a few people on our own.
  24. So is custom built better than already built, and how so? Johan, feel free to add your knowledge if you're online.
