  1. Yeah, definitely. I'm by no means someone who could be considered as a "natural runner" and thanks to a couple of knee injuries, I NEED to take it easy to start off with. Following a program that was posted somewhere here a while ago. Starting off (this week) with 5 min warmup @ 6kph; 2 min run @ 10-12kph; walk 3 min @ 5-7kph; repeat 4 more times; cool down 5 min @ 5-7kph. 4 days a week. Next week it ratchets up to 3 min run 2 min walk, then 4 min run 1 min walk, then run 25 min, then 26 min and so on until you get to an hour a day, 4 days a week with a taper, then half marathon... have to take it slow cos of my weight and my knees...
  2. only problem is that on the coffee & green tea & water I'm peeing like a racehorse
  3. LOL. Shows how that nickname I was given was really off mark, eh? Purely unintended, of course Brut, bro. And aircon. I was built for cold conditions. I have to change anti-pongs every now and then cos they stop being effective.
  4. I'm trying that now. Daytime fasting. See how it works for me. Run this afternoon could be interesting on just black coffee & green tea.
  5. I need to see if my old man still has his. If he does, I'm going to ask if I can have it. It's one of the proper ones... Forget which, but it came in a lekker metal case (which he still has)
  6. nah. More along the lines of WTF did I just read?! Let me see if it was what I thought... Feck. It was. Meh....
  7. Followed by... Coffee Cam And Pre-engaged double facepalm.
  8. getting in on the action with a "relaxed but actually really bored laptop camera selfie"
  9. who didn't Okay - I can guess the answer to that. Rossi.
  10. you don't HAVE to sell the watch. Sure, it'll have lost it's GPS functionality and most of its smart watch capabilities (cos it uses the iPhone for those) but it'll still be an activity tracker & non-gps HR monitor.
  11. See my earlier post re points. It's just the current points construct in regard to non-tied activities (self-recorded, essentially) which is changing as of next year to place more emphasis on overall activity. You did a RACE - tied to SA Active / Vitality Fit & it was a provable, verifiable activity for which Vitality had already allowed points to be allocated. Ride, by yourself - this year, they hadn't yet allocated points for HR monitored activities that could have been copied from someone else's GXP file (yes, people do this) There's been a tremendous call for non-gym and non-tied activities to count for more than 200 points. This is it. But only from next year. Re apple watch - YES. Partnership. Apple are using the data. Beeeeeeeg money. (And they're of the opinion that the Apple company offers the best one-stop shop for tech of this type (smart watch with HR) given that if they were to go to Android, who? Samsung, with their hilarious bloatware and an S Gear that doesn't really work that well? Apple have an overwhelming share of the market, and a very simple product offering. The Anrdoid marketplace is bloated and confusing) That last bit is my thought at least. But they're doing a sole partnership with Apple, and not android.
  12. I'll say it again. As of next year, points allocations will change to reflect the duration and intensity of the exercise. This year's points structure only allows a max of 200 points if you do a workout that is not on SAActive or park run etc. I've heard figures of 3000 point for a 2 or 3 hour bike ride at Ave 70% HRR but that's just a rumour at the moment. You WILL be able to hit it on a weekly basis. Points construct for non gym or so active exercise changes entirely as of next year
  13. There used to be one just off longmarket St, down the road from BMH. accusations of mismanagement etc. And I have to wonder how many of the other closures are the same sort of thing. Owners expecting a one way ticket to dollartown without putting in the hard work, and also expecting an instant paycheque The sea point one and constantia, century city and quite a few others are PUMPING
  14. R 1,000? No no no... if you hit 0 goals per MONTH, R 250 in that MONTH 1 goal, R 175 2 = R 100 3 = R 50 all 4 = nothing. you will only ever pay a max of R 250 in any given month. R 6,000 over a 24 month period = R 250 per month..
  15. yeah, indeed, true. but the fact of the matter is that you're still tied into it if you sell the device. Yeah, if you're consistently hitting 4 goals a month and whadda whadda, then it's effectively 6k for nada. If you can continue doing that, and already have another device then why not... Dammit. You just pointed out I hadn't thought it through properly. LOL.
  16. LOL. Yeah. Suspect you've already done that though. But yeah. On the for sale thing -it'd be pretty silly for you to get it, sell it for below retail value (still a 2nd hand watch) and still pay for it or at least be tied into the loan for 2 years.
  17. My local ones (home and work) do them quite well. Century City Vida (opposite SMG, near the WW) and then Constantia Vida. Plus they both have a pretty kiff ambiance.
  18. yeah, but hopefully you're paying that anyway, and don't just get the card to get the watch. Unless you migrate your credit profile to Disco Card.
  19. Nah, it's coming in properly next year. This is but a taste. Plus, what do you think people would say if you charged them now, but it only opened properly on 1 Jan?
