  1. Maybe, but I'd still far rather have a 26" with 2.35" tyres than a 650 conversion with 2.1's. Would be the same overall wheel and tyre size in the end anyway.
  2. To compare those lightweight xc race machines to a commuter and an all mountain slayer is hardly fair though, is it... on the way down you'd want the prophet when the going got tough. Point being - for the same bike in niner format you'd be paying north of 50k.
  3. That's a flippin good price for a full carbon XT laden machine! And yes. It is a good buy.
  4. For long marathon type events yes. Niner all the way. Anything else should be up to the user to decide. Stop trying to shovel marketing shaite down his throat. Sixers are just perfect. Any lack of performance would be from the lump pedalling the thing. Btw - how much are they asking for it?
  5. Dude. It's the s works stumpjumper. It'd just a little bit more trail oriented than the epic, but the only reason you'll be left behind on the climbs is if you suck. It's a great platform and has really good trail manners according to the reviews. If it's a good price, take it. Those 2012 stumpies are great bikes. ESPECIALLY the S works.
  6. You can do it, but they will take ages to seal properly, the sidewalls will probably weep sealant in places but they will eventually seal once all the small holes in the sidewalls are sealed. They won't be as strong as a normal tlr / tlr snakeskin conversion but if your funds are limited you can get them converted if you're ready to put in the time to get them done.
  7. No it's not. If it's a good deal and you like the bike, go for it. The stumpy is a great bike and is a proper all rounder. Don't listen to people who tell you 26er is dead. They don't know what they're talking about.
  8. Yet another case of someone reading what they want to read.
  9. Dude. Riding the HDR at the moment and I can honestly say it's the best bike I've ridden yet. I just wanna jump off everything I see... and it accelerates so FAST! Okay, it's approx 3k lighter than my giant, and the shock is far better (fox CTD vs dhx5) but it's just so much more lively. I can see a shock tune and weigh less regime coming along when I have the money for it.
  10. Enduro = Timed events based on All Mountain discipline (more focus on the descents) with bikes in the region of 140-170mm suspension travel Marathon = long distance "cross country" events on hardtails or FS bikes with less than 120mm suspension. Essentially, Enduro is the event. All Mountain is the category of riding.
  11. have a look at the size of your 11t the next time you change a cassette. To make a 10t possible you need to change the end of the freehub body otherwise there just won't be enough material to work with for a 10t cog.
  12. There was a wife on the couch.... revoked privileges would have resulted had she been misplaced
  13. And that Spez shown above is a full susser. Has pivots all over the place.
  14. Yep. A softail doesn't have any pivots on the rear triangle. A full suspension bike does.
  15. Lol yeah. Saying that, he needs more exposure to this sorta stuff to get to where he wants to be.. But yeah. Those okes are INSANE
  16. Nah mate. He has the talent. He's good technically, and this was one of those freak crashes I reckon. Just a misplaced wheel here or there and you're gone. Yes it was his first xco as a wildcard but he deserves to be there.
  17. May as well ask a chef what brand of gas they use. You can take a great pic no matter the camera. It's all in the eyes of the photographer
  18. He's in hospital for observation, loads of stitches and scans. He's used to that though... He came off on the final day of J2C or one of the other stage races coming into the gorge, chasing Kev Ev and Max Knox. Head first into a tree and cracked a vertebrae or 2. Airlifted out and they even interviewed him while he was on the ground waiting for the chopper. Made the award for wipe out of the event. So yeah. He's a tough nugget. And up till this crash he seemed to be doing very well. That boy has a bright future if he can get to Europe.
  19. SS has described it as the DH. Actual dh us a single transmission. The xco is separate hut described as downhill
