  1. How do you know if somebody's done the Epic? They'll tell you...
  2. They're using their tools and labour in the normal price anyway, tell them to get lost and go somewhere else. EDIT: The price of a wheelbuild would be factoring in the hours taken to build & true the wheel anyway. If they offered the service free of charge for wheels bought through them, then that would be okay as they would favour the client that buys stuff through them (standard business practice) but the way they've conducted themselves now smacks of somebody who doesn't know how to run a business and keep clients.
  3. Sorry, Rob, but that isn't ethical at all. If I take my wheel into the LBS to be rebuilt, I should be charged the rate that they have listed on their price-list for the Wheel Rebuild / Build. The hint is in RE-build. The point is that they are already charging for the service they offer in rebuilding the wheel. That is (should be) a set price, regardless of whether it's an old wheel, a new wheel you buy through them, or a set of parts that you bring in to them to build.
  4. Precisely my point. They offer a service for "wheel building" for a certain sum of cash. That should be the same for your existing wheels, new wheels built using items bought through them, or bought elsewhere and taken to them for building.
  5. Ask them if they would charge you the same to re-build your current wheel. It's not ethical at all. They're making money off the labour. I wasn't charged any more for a full service 'cos I brought in a new crank that needed fitting, was just charged the normal labour rate for the amount of time it took to fit it.
  6. That was an extenuating circumstance. So yes, you caught me...
  7. Check your hubs bearings. If they're shot, that will cause the wheel to flex (actually move laterally) under braking. Edit: was happening to me..may also be that your bearing cups are loose.
  8. I'd actually say it comes to more than that...
  9. I'd actually say it comes to more than that...
  10. Spade, rake, pick axe and a little beastie called a mcleod. All you'll need unless you have access to a bobcat. Won't need a shovel unless you're shifting loose soil. A spade is far more useful. Can use it to do bench cutting, dirt shifting and stomping.
  11. Chat to Capricorn (small Trance) Pain or Shine (medium Reign) or DJR (large Trance) and see if they're willing to go on a ride wif you...
  12. Yeah. The Novatec hubs on my XCAMHT machine have a slightly more... calm... sound to them, but still sound awesome. But when I freewheel the burly bike, and those Pro II's come alive...
  13. Yeah. I don't care about weight. I weigh 103 myself, so losing 300g on a hub is pointless, imho. I also loooooove the way that free-wheel body sounds...
  14. +1 on the HOPE hubs. They are the mutts nuts. And they're nowhere near as expensive as Chris Kings! PS: There's a reason HOPE have such a devout following. They are that good...
  15. Still trying to hang on to my Fox Unabombers (2008 model with 2 knuckle hardshell coverage) They're now my 2nd choice pair for when my new Alpinestars are needing a bit of air... Also have a pair of No Fear gloves waiting in the cupboard. Bought both pairs (Alpinestars & No Fear) from CRC on one of their specials. And full finger all the way. I like my hands the way they are, thanks..
  16. It's a kit. R 4,800 at my local lego outlet for that one piece. It's 1.2m long, but still. R 4,800 is a looooot of money for what is essentially a set of plastic blocks with a STAR WARS sign on it.
  17. You basically get up to R 300 off your fees, if you go more than 10 times per month. SO if the fee is R 475, and you go more than 10 times, your fee will basically be R 175. It works on a sliding scale according to how many times you go each month, and is calculated in arrears (Jan's visits will accrue towards March's discount)
  18. serious fail by Schumie's pit crew. That was disappointing, but what a race!
  19. That was most likely their normal price that they knocked down. Nothing wrong with setting a margin, or digging into that margin to secure a sale. It's called business, Edge...
  20. I still love lego... Used to have a whole stash of the stuff, but it was passed on to others in the family. I'm just about to start collecting again now, but just going for the basic block & item sets, not the themed ones just yet. The STAR WARS sets are fantastic... Miss mine.
  21. Cool. Sorry bout that... A gilet, arm warmers and a buff. Depending on how hard It's raining, a rain jacket as well.
