  1. Lekker, Kandui. Nice to see the progress through the mire that is TMNP/Sanparks' bureaucracy
  2. erm, it does a bit, yeah. I sweat through my head as well, and it is noticeably hotter than my previous helmet (Bell something or other mtb helmet) but offers far more protection. And truth be told, it's still not that hot. I mean, it's not uncomfortable. Yes, it could use more air-flow, if I'm being super-duper picky and all that, but it's a third of the price of anything else at R 499. I think that's a worthy trade-off for far better protection.
  3. They're good helmets. Just helluva warm! And I often get asked why I chose the colour. Apart from the fact that it's AWESOME, I had a choice between pink (sparkly magenta, to give the proper name) or brown. I think the choice was obvious... Plus, it makes me easy to spot. And I get to say that I'm looking "Thparkilleh!"
  4. Good stuff. Had to check... It really is that much of a problem.
  5. Yeah... Also - the RM is a 9'er, right? So it would stand to reason that the travel ranges differ slightly to the 6'er options. And yes - I'd love to put a revelation U-Turn on my hardtail. 160mm on the downhills and 120 on the ups. Mmmm, MMMMM!
  6. I do hope you're joking with that last sentence there... If not, you deserve a beating. It's attitudes like this that are helping alienate TMNP and the mountain bike community, and your mentality needs a major change if you were not joking.
  7. A bit of both, depending on what fits them better. Me, I use a Bell Faction for on & off road. Gives far better protection than a silly little road lid, and at a f®action of the price. This is the one I have (yes, the colour as well)
  8. Meh. Revelation is 110mm upwards. REBA is 80-120mm. Sure, there's a bit of cross-over, but they're in different categories. REBA is firmly in the XC camp, bordering on trail, whereas Revelation is in the Trail/AM camp.
  9. Or even just a small ***... Here's an idea - have 2 less corn flakes in the morning. That'll save you the same amount of weight that a fork upgrade will get you. And, you'll be eating less so you'll lose even more weight in the long run. Sorted!
  10. RVLATN isn't in the same range as the REBA... it's more AM-ey. REBA & Revelation are, IMO, the "site managers" of the brand. More experienced than a worker, more capable in many respects, and not nearly as flexible.
  11. Almost. (but not quite) Also need to consider that it might be the boggo standard REBA and not the RLT Dual Air or summin. But anyway - I'd still say that it's not worth it to upgrade unless you have the cash available and there's nothing else you can do. If I had the cash, I'd upgrade the wheelset before the fork, in this instance.
  12. Agreed. Yobbo deluxe. It's as if it's had Bentley's equivalent of the Burberry disease.
  13. Yeah - she's been doing a LOT of training. And yeah, she's very down to earth like that. Nothing like an ice-cold Super Moo or Steri Stumpie after a race/gym session. MMMMMMM....
  14. What Covie said. The REBA is a perfectly good fork, and is in fact one of the stalwarts of the RS range. Keep it.
  15. Have a look on the Disco website. There's a list of them there for you to check out. IIRC, u log in, go to "Vitality" > "know your health" > "eat healthily" and there's a link that you click on to get to the list. I think It's as easy as clicking on the word "dietician"
  16. U talkin about Maryke? She's a pretty good cyclist as well and a mate of mine.
  17. AFAIK, Helen got onto the tandem at Simonstown/Smits. She was certainly powering up Wynberg Hill under her own steam.
  18. GREEEEEEEEEEN! Dude, you know you want to. It looks S.I.C.K!
  19. Have another look at my post - I edited to include Vitality cost per month as well. And the integrated premium story? Also not true if your Vitality status is up there. And if your client is claiming in excess of R 30k per year on his med aid, then there is a definite problem. It's also generally only a single event that will cause a year of claims in excess of say, 25k, so the chances of the client having recurring high-claim years is not that high (unless cancer / heart attack patient etc in which case the policy will be doing its job by covering him sufficiently. Anyway - we're now way off topic. IMHO - Vitality is FAR more than a "Marketing Gimmick" and, as many studies (worldwide, not commissioned by Discovery) have found out, it is the single biggest wellness program of its kind in the world. Vitality, if used (and sold) properly, has far-reaching benefits that cannot be dismissed as mere gimmickry. And no, they don't try to use Vitality to divert attention from their Med Aid. The major problem with non-payment on the med aid side is predominately caused by the erronous submission of information by doctors' rooms, where some administrators submit the wrong codes for procedures, or clients don't understand what they're covered for or at. Again, this happens no matter what the med aid provider...
  20. That has nothing to do with it... I have numerous overweight, unfit clients who are also on Diamond / Gold - purely because I showed them the reasons that I wanted them to get there and what the benefits were. Also, I helped them along the way by organizing all the fitness assessments & screening tests (in house) I agree that some Disco agents just sell and leave the client to do their own thing ito Vitality, but then so do many independent brokers... and not only with Discovery products. The same is true for all companies' products. Some assume that it is Discovery's obligation to make sure the client gets to gold. Not so - it is the responsibility of the client, as well as the broker who sold them the product. And as for the only saving anything after being a member of the gym for 4 years - rubbish. You get an 80% discount on the base level subs, which can work out to a saving of R 360 per month (on a R 450 p/m base gym membership) Yes, the initial activation fee is high (at R 745) but then have a look at that versus the month to month cost of a normal membership. You get to break even point in just over 2 months. With a Premier membership, that break even point extends to 3 months (assuming R 500 per month) When including the cost of vitality into those calculations, the break even points extend to just under 4 months & 6 months respectively That's considering a basic discount, without any Discovery Credit card, and with no activation fee on the normal gym contract. Bottom line - if you're not interested in getting your clients to GOLD status, you shouldn't be selling an "integrated" policy, or promising those discounts. That's just bad advice... As for saying it's a gimmick - that's nonsense, and can only come from either not understanding the product, or not utilizing it. If you sell it, you should be helping your client to get the most out of it...
  21. THIS. THREAD. NEEDS. INFO!!! Pitchers would work as well though...
  22. Absolutely! The extra control he'll get from longer (wider) bars will be fantastic! Personally, I don't know how some people can run bars that are as close as dammit to 500mm... Must be helluva twitchy, and not in a good way! What he said.
  23. That is one sexy machine right there! I like Cobras, but that is on another level...
  24. Welcome to 2012, where a lack of consideration and common sense is the social norm...
