  1. Yeah, quite a feeling it is... Cannot get enough. But seriously, these guys grate my nerves.
  2. Ditto to King_Crispy... Although I'd only fly up if someone's willing to pay my airfare. Not flying up from CT just to dig a new drop into existence... Suggestion though - Logs / Loffels? If possible, that is? They could be moved easily when you've redirected the flow and no longer need them.
  3. Yeah, me too... For the moment. Yesterday I cleared that 1st little gap jump for the first time, and just dropped into that right hand berm so sweetly. But that track has already been mutilated at the bottom half by ppl dragging their back brakes. Hectically rutted and donga-ed. Need to try the left hand fork next though. Fun fun fun, till Chucky broke the scaphoid in twooooo.... Fun fun fun... (to Beach Boys backing tune) And yes, Chucky is my nickname. So named by my ex-colleagues.
  4. Agentgreen - your talk of never never land just reminded me of a sick track by Infected Mushroom... Damn, do those dudes ever rock! I could quite happily see myself doing those trails on a DH sled...
  5. Speaking of which - when's the next TMD (Trail Maintenance Day) ? Last one was while I was stepping on to a plane on the way to my honeymoon... Need to do my bit for the trails!!!
  6. Yeah - it's split into 2 routes (har har) There's also Your Roots, which is the newish trail that starts by the end of faerie garden with a raised bridge ending in a small drop-off / ramp thing, and ends up by the 2nd hairpin of the main fire road. My Roots is the original one that starts at that same hairpin so you can come barrelling down the fire road straight into the trail, and hangs left. Then it splits into a more DH route on the left hand fork, and to a less technical route (but still laden with jumps and ****) on the right hand fork. Both of these end up just before where Faerie Garden starts (the bottom end). My Roots used to be VERY rooty, and ended with quite a big tabletop right at the bottom. It has since been re-rooted (har har) into the new twin routes (another HAR HAR) My Roots is my last call on the way down, after barrelling down Vatbyt and before that, whatever DH route ends up at the top of Vasbyt (rather tentatively on this one though, only done it once and my bike doesn't exactly fill the bill when it comes to describing "plush" and "drop-happy")
  7. Bwahahahahahahahaha!!! Not all roadies, but they do lend themselves to gratuitous generalisation...
  8. Just right, Jarek. No segregation, just common sense. I book these guys in the same group as those who try to blag their way past the gate guy with the "I left my wildcard at home", "I'll pay when I get back", and "I didn't know I had to pay" lines.
  9. Not cool Patches. Couldn't they just stop and admire the view, and dream about the potential plentitude of butterflies & fairies pummelling their guts as they fly through the air, waiting for the tire to hit the dirt again?
  10. Hi Edge, I am an XCer/DHer wannabe and I find it disgusting to say the least. As for the DHers that walk up the track... They keep off the racing line and, if on the racing line, pull over for those coming from behind or from the front. The issue at hand here is with guys riding UP the DOWN ONLY sections. DH1. DH2. My Roots. Etc etc. Those trails are NOT bidirectional. The fact that so many people seem to think that it is their RIGHT to claim domination over a trail that they are in no way supposed to be on, and curse, vloek and harrass those those that are merely enjoying that which they love, is - frankly - disgusting. Rant off.
  11. Lol... I do have the propensity to go on the roff side every now and again. My darker side coming out. But seriously... 20km? That's crazy talk right there. You sure you're not running 12" tires and your speedo is registering 36" tires?
  12. I think it's more of a mini-series. Although, it does have Broadway appeal (edit - VERY vague, I know. But I doubt that 20km of ST nirvana could fit onto the Artscape theatre stage. More of a Band of Brothers style epic mini-series...) TWENTY. FRIKKIN. KILOMETRES. I'm having a very VERY naughty dream tonight.
  13. ja.... right. That's why you're called "dirt-rider". Subtle, bru. Subtle.
  14. Sorry. WHAT?! Let me just replace my pacemaker quickly...
  15. Are you sure you're talking about the same thing here?
  16. Not to say that I'm a downhiller, on my flimsy little 100mm XC bike, but I put my seat down low and ride it like a DJ bike when / if I can. Plus, I don't ruin lips & berms. I remember too fondly how I used to slave over the jumps I used to build over the spare rocks and bricks we could find to do something that criminal. I'm constantly trying to extend my jump meterage and speed in the berms. And if somebody has just dragged bis rear brake through the whole berm, it could create a bit of a problem for me, a novice berm-rider!
  17. This is one of the things that I find hardest to get around... Us okes, barrelling down the single-track, have next to no time to react to the imbeciles that insist on going up the downhill tracks and do not move aside when confronted with one of us going down at a rate of knots. Not to mention the fact that they shouldn't be there in the first place. This was actually something that a mate of mine (who happened to be enjoying his first ever MTB experience (previous BMX'er) commented on - and he couldn't believe that us as those who go down downhill tracks, moved over for those coming up. I was siumply trying to get down with the least amount of resistance, and WAS waiting for him at times, but it seriously interrupted our flow. Not cool...
  18. Fark. So either you're both lighties, or you're creating a new class of race - the one rider tandem. Either way, it means NO potholes or out of the saddle riding!
  19. Keen! Just not this weekend... Got plans already. And my power steering pump has just failed, so I don't want to drive any more than is necessary until it's fixed.
  20. Dude, where is this track? Keen to try it out on my steed and get the skills honed etc... Could do with a track like that! At the moment I'm just doing Tokai and all the same track all the same time, and to be honest, it's getting pretty ripped up there lately! Would love a bit of variety!
  21. Fantastic testament to the good people out there... Congrats, MD... You must be soooo chuffed!
  22. Good luck finding some 26" that are bigger than 2.2... You may have to go the CRC route. Did the same exercise a few months back and I couldn't find them ANYWHERE...
  23. Hahha! I know how *** a cut in the tread can be. My last puncture was thankfully right at the end of my ride, and I could just walk back to the car in the space of 2 minutes. I also tried to seal it, but it was just too big (she cried!) Had to buy a new tire after all that.
  24. The fox in this case also has more adjustability, and will in all likelihood be quite a bit lighter than the Recon.
