  1. I know, i know... I shall go hide under the staircase with the faerie garden troll.
  2. Hah! Bos, my man, we have the same style... Adidas carbon soled XC shoes are my flava of the moment as well. Got them at a cool 50% off the sale price at Olympic. Steal! Can't wait for my new tyre to get here... Getting a WTB Weirwolf and NOBODY has stock here. Coming over with my sis from the UK, courtesty of CRC. Amped to get dirty again!
  3. funny thing is, pressure of the tires has more to do with puncture resistance than the tyres themselves. For the hardpack conditions they should be much harder (or so I believe) than the average rider pumps them. The sidewall also helps, but the type of rubber rather than the amount used will determine how easily a thorn or stone pierces the flesh of the tire. In addition, you can have a perfectly inflated tire, with helluva thick walls and all the puncture protection you can get, but if you hit something the wrong way it'll puncture no matter what.
  4. yeah, 'cos extra weight does not necessarily mean extra durability... different rubber compounds, sidewall widths and potential kevlar plating throw that argument out the window...
  5. Also Epic Cycles for all things MTB. Good bunch of guys
  6. buy a lotto ticket. Now. I'll give you some cash so you can double the ticket...
  7. quite possibly - if your body isn't used to the position on your new road bike, or if it isn't the right fit for you, it could end up ruining your ride. If, however, you get a bike that fits properly, and is your size and you are comfortable on it, the benefits of the lighter frame and whole package will help you do a much faster time. Just remember that you won't be used to the position on the bike, so you could get a few pains in the back or shoulders...
  8. My days have been anything but good and lean. Back up to 98.
  9. knee injury flared up again, so going to go to the top of Edinburgh Drive to cheer them on and have a day of relaxation... SO chuffed with my knee it's unbelievable!
  10. Sorry dude - been awol for a while and didn't see this thread again. I'm still in, but might not make the first one if it's any time in the next 3 to 4 weeks, what with a wedding coming up and all. When is this shindig goin down?!
  11. F*&king disgusting. Vids like this that just remind me of that scene from Kids where that oke gets beaten with a skateboard. Makes me wanna do that to the guy in the car. A55hole. Not constructive, I know. And it's not the right response, but this guy arguably deserves it.
  12. fantastic! let us know if/when it will be scheduled for. Will be there like a bear! Unless, of course, if it falls between 17 - 28 March. Going to be in sunny mauritius soaking up the rays...
  13. Well done Chris! I'm down another few to 96. What I actually suspect is 95.5, but I have a dodgy bathroom scale and I normally weigh in at the gym. I'll take it though... Down 5 this year!
  14. And aluminium will corrode... More forgiving than alu in terms of bump absorption, and can use less of it in order to get the same strength characteristics. Plus, it just looks damn sexy.
  15. Then stick to the cycling related topics... chit chat is generally off-topic, for sale is generally cycling stuff unless posted under NCR.
  16. What about the plastic "spoke cleaners" you used to see on many a laaaightie's BMX back in the day?
  17. I think your friend is a ****. That stuff should be mine.
  18. Sars duties on bike frames and components are set at 15.4% - that denotes VAT charged on declared value of goods (as per invoice) Basically, they add 10% to the value of any parts/frames shipped in and then charge VAT on that value. Essentially the same as charging 15.4% on the original amount. Beware though - if you buy in a full bike, any clothing or a large amount of spares that Customs could reasonably suspect to make up a full bike, you WILL get whacked with an import duty, where an additional 40% is lopped onto the value of the goods/parts/clothing and then VAT is charged over and above that. Otherwise, perform a search to view previous posts on the SAAAAAAAME information. I swear there must be 20 more threads on this EXACT question.
  19. I like number 3... But I also smaak the ooooold ones. The one you still wear, admin...
