With Alarm + security doors I think it's alright. They're gonna need some time to get through proper burglar bars and if you have a good alarm system they won't be able to get to the bars without tripping it. And the Security company takes max 10 mins to get to you Idea of having a firearm in my house scares me!!

They've broken into my flat before, in Borcherd street (connects with Andringa). Worst is they keep cutting the cables(or something like this) so the street lights are never on. Have reported it to Municipality and police but they're still off(for weeks now). Last week they were on for 3 hours and gone again lol. They tried breaking into my flat 2 weeks ago, on the TOP level window, facing the street. Like I would never imagine anyone would try this, it's so open to the street, but with the lights off it seems pretty chilled. This street is a nightmare. My friends are too scared to park in my street because of all the car break ins here...

Sjoe do want more info on these accused bike thieves. I live very close to those you just listed, pretty sure they've spotted my bikes by now... Scared

My GF is shorter than you, just swapped to 29er a few months ago and she is super happy and hasn't had any of the problems that people suggested she would have. Other than the stand over height being a bit high, she's very happy. And TBH it feels like her climbing has improved, and her technical ability too.

I tried on Castelli Aero Race and Vermarc something(R1600) at my LBS today and must say the Castelli felt really nice and the chamois seems quite nice. It's not nearly as big/bulky as the Assos but apparently very comfortable. Price was R1800, might well try that. Going to try out some Santini as well. So hard to decide without being able to ride in them!

Thanks for the poll I've been doing some research as well, as i'm in the market for a new bibshort. I have an Assos uno and it's amazing. Leaning towards getting another, but I feel a bit close minded and would like to try something else in the same brand. But is it worth the risk? I only have 1 set of Assos and because it's white(rookie error) I only where it on long road rides(+ no rain) so I don't use it often, but when I use it - it feels like heaven on a saddle...

Flandria does night rides @6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays if I remember correctly. Into Jonkers, to saaltjie usually I think.

Yes but by looking at the profile it looks/feels as if it will be mostly long, not too steep climbs and then quick, steep downhills. Would prefer steep climbs and then elongated sections of downhill Any idea what the profile/ascent will be like for the long road race, which is now 80km and not 100km.
