  1. I ordered parts of R9600 and received them 6 work days later. I payed just over R1500 Vat at the PO...
  2. If it's a XT crankset I will be interested in buying it...
  3. Nice big one Nancy... I've seen colour variations here too... from dark brown to even bright yellowish green. This is one is brightly coloured, but maybe it recently shed skin... I've seen one extremely bright coloured one before which were almost green where the yellow normally is, like it was glowing... but normally they are dark and almost black like (dark brown like Nancy's one) in mid summer...
  4. I also don't like snakes... A Puff Adder bit my father in the mountains in 2003 and it took months to heal... I frequently encounter snakes where I train... Adders and others and the odd Cape Cobra...
  5. It was very lazy to stike, just tried to flee at quite a pace... Was just West of Uitenhage... not near CT Late afternoon...
  6. Almost rode right over this big Puff Adder yesterday. One of the bigger ones I've encountered... very bright colours... and so early in the season in a forested area deep up a kloof where it hasn't been very hot at all... Video: www.brighter-lights.com/videos/puffy.wmv
  7. I can help you... PM me the details... Capacity Voltage (cell count) Application? (what kind of driver are you going to use for how many, and which LED's?) I have a few options available.
  8. It's unlikely that the Ellies adaptor will be a li-ion charger... it's most likely a normal DC adaptor, which will work to some extend, but stuff up your battery long term. I might be able to help you with a charger... the X4 use 2x series Li-ion... needs a charger that cuts off at 8.4v. The std charger uses current limiting to charge 3/4 of the capacity and then changes to voltage limiting to reach the full voltage... Send me a photo of the spec sticker on the charger... johannes at brighter-lights.com Regards Jo
  9. I opened my RP-2, mainly because my shock started leaking oil through the cap screws which keep the lockout lever in place... There's 2 pushrods that run on the cam's of the lockout lever and rebound adjuster. Don't remove the lockout lever or rebound adjuster! I removed it and the pushrods kicked out all the way. The agents told me it's impossible to get it back like that and that no one they know of got if back before...they told me to send it in for a nitrogen recharge etc. I got both adjusters back 8 minutes later... but it was a tense operation... You can very easily service the air sleeve yourself... remove the shock from the frame, remove the back en bushes, unscrew the air sleeve by hand... grab shock in both hands... twist opposite directions... But before you do any of this.... check if the sqeek doesn't come from one of the pivots or shock bushings... normally the case... Good luck...
  10. Good deal...
  11. I've had no problems with mine.
  12. VDO Z3 and Polar 625X eg. gives up to 100m diff for our home altitude with different weather conditions... Have to know your actual start altitude and set it everytime you go. Even then there can be diffs. - you start in sunny town and weather changes + start raining in the mountain...
  13. I got an email earlier tonight: Dear: Johannes Gerber Race Number: 2634 Starting Group: 7 th Start Group Age Category: Sub Vet Men 30 - 39 yrs Teeshirt Size: None || TShirt: || Long Top: ............................................................................... SEEDING - for the elite and seeded riders has been allocated according to the Pedal Power Association seeding system and NOT by the race organizers. Thereafter riders were seeded according to the date that they entered.
  14. On PPA's seeding page, only one race comes up for my seeding...K2C 2005 where I was 17th... But I've done K2C 2006, 2008, 11th in 300km 3day Maxxis 2008, won almost every race in the EC. Thing is, I do the odd classic in another province, but because I can only afford to travel to EC races (where I live) doesn't mean that I'm slow... How can organisers use an organisasion for seeding when the organisation only really covers one small area of the country.... and even races I've done in that part of the country werent used to seed me? Part of the problem is with the K2C organisers... we were in touch with them in the weeks before now, regarding registering new talent with CSA to get them to start in the A group, and they could've told us that they're gonna use PPA and not CSA like in the old days... we just waisted money to get people registered with CSA to get them to start in the A group and now the PPA crap...
  15. I'm based in Eastern Cape.
  16. Even if they go by that, top 50 is nowhere near start group 7.... there's a few hundered per start group....
  17. In 2008 I cut a tyre and lost time, but still finished in the top 50.
  18. Who else is affected?
  19. Why not? The races were CSA sanctioned...they asked my CSA number... or is it a case of CSA taking money again for being absent or invisable? Surely CSA know about my previous K2C times. Mondi Addo when I was 6 mins behind Max Knox, and ahead of a few guys in 'sponsored team' kit... ALSO a CSA sanctioned one... They even subtracted 10% of my prize money for CSA or the UCI or who knows what for... The 24hr Solo I won... It's not like I'm a stranger. How can they put a registered top rider in group 7....?
  20. Ok... I'm registered with CSA and expected to start in the front group in K2C. My best K2C finish was 17th. This year's time goal is sub 3hr20. I'm in best form ever. 4 podiums the past 4 weeks. The fastest were: 80km Volkswagen Valley of Flags MTB - 2 hours 44 mins. 85km Lions Kat MTB Challenge (1700m vertical) - 3 hours 5 mins. So I received this email from the K2C organisers, telling me that PPA seeded me to start in starting in start group 7 ????? WTF??? I'm still trying to get over it.... start group 7..... My racing partner, (female) equally capable, seeded to start in group 4. After we just recently registered her with CSA to get her to race against the pro ladies in K2C... Am I missing something here?
  21. Very touchy topic... and glad to see others with the same viewpoint. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I don't mind paying for something if I actually get something for my money. I can't speak for CSA's road cycling involvement, but in MTB, in my province for instance their involvement is zero. I know of enough anti-CSA people to start a whole new organization. What is CSA gonna do if we start our own new clubs, and organize races like WE want to do it and utilize the money like WE want to? They gonna stop <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />USon>? I recently did a race which had just over a 100 entrants and was a charity event. After the race, I met the organizers and we got to the money issue and talked about how much the charity actually gets out of the race. Then the topic of CSA arose and they told me what CSA enforced on them as organizers... fees etc. etc. In the end... CSA did not send an official or anybody to the race, they didn't contact anyone, they didn't have a banner up, they took the money, and they forced the organizers to do things CSA's way and the charity got almost nothing out of it... 2009 was the 10th anniversary of this race... it's clearly stood the test of time without CSA... In another race, I had to 'give' 10% of my prize money back to the organizers, collecting on behalf of CSA!!!! So they advertise a race with R15 000 or whatever prize money for the win, but none of the riders actually get the prize money advertised... or did this organizer pay his CSA 'fees' by subtracting from the winner's prize money? I am registered with CSA.... I only register to start in the front group in K2C... Will I register in 2010? I'm not sure, because we might decide to completely stay away from the races we normally do and start organizing our own series of events. We've got enough support to seriously consider doing this. Will we exclude registered CSA riders from our events..? NO.. we won't - because our idea is to give back what you payed for... CSA is an anonymous invisible organization when it comes to mountain biking in the Eastern Cape... It?s time for a revolution? like I said? I don?t mind paying for something if I can see what I?m actually buying? Brighter-Lights2009-09-07 11:59:30
  22. You've got one? Tell me about it! Been dreaming for ages... The Rohloff is not much heavier than std drivetrain... Actually.... Rohloff @1.8kg PG 970 11-34 (295g) X9 rear der (230g) Rear hub (300g) X9 triggers (240g) Front der (165g) Shifter Cables Housing (80g) 44t + 22t (120g) Additional chain weight (30g) Additional spoke weight (25g) 300g heavier +- The greatest distance on a Rohloff hub is 145 000km by Thomas Longing (2009) but many has done over 70 000km on theirs. Rohloff claims that they've never had a hub fail... http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/thornpdf/ThornLivingWithARohloff.pdf Brighter-Lights2009-09-07 11:00:00
  23. Thanks! Just found out that mine was scanned late afternoon today and I got the local number. I've got a few email contacts I usually email invoices to at customs but not sure if I should wait or just send them invoices with the codes anyway. As far as I know CRC adds the invoice to the parcel.
