  1. Hi RussT, you are welcome to join us on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Thaba Trails, 6pm ..where you saw us turning in on Saturday. I am from the parks and was showing Club 100 the trails. We will be starting Saturday group ride at Thaba at 6am if we have enough takers. A number of peeps show interest but "no show" themselves..not enjoyable riding with "interest"
  2. Thanks my friend..and I say thanks to my team...without them....
  3. Hi Guys, sure will look at this for you. just give me a bit if time to get all the URGENT stuff handled. We are blessed with a workshop that is bursting at the seems and it is taking its toll on our time... but we WILL look at it, just bear with me. Thanks
  4. Sorry but they are two seperate businesses so unfortunately the Vlei Card will not work. The fee for Thaba is 20% more ie. R30 for a single entry as apposed to the R25 at the vlei. This extra cost is going into a "game fund" as we as cyclists will be increasing the game vareity as the land can accomodate them. We have Springbok, Blessbok, Impala, Wildebeest and zebra that have been brought in. We see a number of indigenous such as duiker, klipspringer and the last week or so,we have been seeing pairs of jackal ( mainly in our night rides)A 10 entry ticket will cost R200 and an annual ticket (2012) bought now at R1200 will give you the balance of 2011 free. Most of our racing will be planned for Thaba so we don't impact on "The Vlei" lovers
  5. Hello my friend, we are hosting the schools MTB final from early on Saturday so you will be restricted the western section of the farm or as an alternative go to Thaba..nice we can offer you an alternative.
  6. Hello Lukep, we are doing Tuesday night rides at Thaba Trails and seems the guys want to do so on Thursday as well. We did one tonight due to me logistically being at Thaba... You are welcome to join in at 6pm each night.
  7. We are doing another night ride tonight, Thursday at 6pm. All are welcome to join us at Thaba Trails, 101, Kliprivier Drive, Mulbarton...down the road from Panorama Shopping centre. Look for SOUTHERN BRICK as a pointer....
  8. Hello Mark, sorry to hear you feel confused. We do try our best and a quick stop in the shop would have solved your cofusion AND we would have been aware of the problem and would have absolutely address the problem. Please understand that we have built them and ride them day and night and what seems simple and obvious to us, blinds our perception of a confusion. I would enjoy taking you around the blue trail...and BB I am dissapointed to read your comment as I have so often invited you for a ride and I know we would have discussed the confusing section and it would have been cleared up.You ride your own routes anyway Have you forgotten that you were the one who complained about NON rideable trails before we actually started there but made a difference immediately.
  9. Dave T, IMHO this is my take on the differences, XC is ridden over a short cuircuit. These days the aim is to get a lap ridden in about 14-16 minutes. I feel these trails should not be bike breaking technical but rather a tester of bike handling skills combined with speed. The race is decided over time with 2 and half hours being the target for elite riders.Trail riding is where there is a higher degree of technical from a obsticle point of view. I enjoy trail riding which cannot be done fast as the turns, drop offs, obstacles etc. need to be negotiated and this takes high technical ability ( and a lot of guts and no fear )It is facinating to see some of our elite riders as well as some juniors go at high speeds over such obsticles... just my 5c
  10. Due to numerous requests the trail will be resurfaced with tar, robots will be in place. Any offenders over the solid whits line will end up washing bikes. The hills have been graded flat... and just so no further complains, the trails have been shortened to 1km. A praposal to relocate to Hectoe Norris park is being considdered with the main advantage being flood lights..... have fun is all I want ALL of you to have..smile...we will all be wondering what you have been up to... and may the orange bulls win today.
  11. We have prepared the 24 hour course and it is waiting for final approval from Dimitri. I am extremely happy and excited with the looks and ride. Thanks Graham and Dave for an excellent job. We will ride it tomorrow and Sunday 17th and 18th at 6am. Thereafter we will have Tuesday and Thursday rides from 5.30pm till late. So you can get a feel for the night challange. A bit of work needed on the South/West side but WOW, it is going to be fun. Special training package.
  12. sorry BEN, but it adds to the challange, I know you can do it!!!
  13. Hi Porky, you have the right area. They focus on MTB riders but have taken a single road back at the bottom of the steps by the ex railway line. Thermanator, the more you ride the easier it gets. Please have fun.
  14. Yes Echo. Brackenhurst, Swartkoppies rd
  15. Friends, be warned these goons are still out there. Saturday afternoon a lone rider was the target of two hijackers. They had a good go at him with a panga and took his bike.PLEASE guys and girls don't go it alone between Brackenhurst and Everite, in the velt behind Rand water....and for those trying to start rumours about muggings at Rietvlei it is NOT true. We don't say it will never happen but we are pretty safe and try our best. Come enjoy the 10km green route and blue added on which is more technical.
  16. sure Scotty,pleasure....the entrance marker to the trail was removed on Satyrday during the schools racing and I did not see it, sorry. Come join us on Tuesday nights at 5.30 to 6pm. that new steed of yours will like the time out!
  17. this is the best..... cops at everite say only two incidents reported and that we are actually trespassing..... hey guy.... so is he. Slave, sorry only getting back now, we are only doing MTB rides as I can't get back too late and I would be a bit hesitant on Chit Chat road ( RWB Road) for a while. IanC.. you are welcome no matter what level you are..everyone started somewhere and also had guys to help them start. The mornings were not supported but at 1pm Sat. And Sunday we will have a short ( 1.5 hour) out ride to warm up then do the trails on the farm. Slave.. I can lend you a MTB to see if the bug bites.... Tuesday night rides are on the farm starting at 5.30/6.oopm about 2 to 3 hours depending on .... group, weather, battery life, dinner dates and a lot of other excuses... to cut them short.
  18. Porky, near the old railway lines and further down towards the Klipriver bridge near Nampack. There is also a brocken down house near Rand water, we have found crude chairs for two. We have heard tonight that the detectives are actually interested and have contacted Marco. We hope they will nail these suckers.
  19. Hi Guys, this is serious. We have had 5 highjackings from 10th till yesterday.Friday the 10th Mike had his new bike taken after beating him up..2 guys...then last Friday a near miss, Craig....Mannie..a confrontation and near miss, Saturday up the steps Eddie was hit with a club ..but got away and yesterday Marco and friend had their bikes taken. These thugs 4 of them, operate in the area from Mayberry park to the papermills.... always near the bridges and on sand roads. They are armed with pangas and heavy knobkierries. Please don't ride in small groups. I suggest meeting at the farm and leave in groups. For those who normally ride alone and aren't part of a group I will organise a breakfast ride at7.30am Sat. and Sun. with a later start at 9am....contact me to confirm so we can get numbers together. The farm is still the safest ride in the South. Don't be heros and take them on on your own..you have family members who care.
  20. Hello My Blessed Friend, we were going to ride down from JHB but it is not meant to be.. we will be there on Thursday, in the ORANGE section...See the Merida Gazibo and tents and noise.... there we will be.... or better still make contact 0829000749 and join us.
  21. I will now keep quiet....again.
  22. Who wants to compete, we can never compare as we are in totally different terrains. We have what they dont have and so YOU have the advantage of choice..... so what is your problem...You have Giba in Natal and many in gauteng... choose where you have the safest, most fun... THAT is what counts.. you..fun...MTB and who else counts????
  23. Hello MG, yes, if you were here you would have seen our offer. However, we are always busy with new developments as we have a passion for the RIDER. I forsee new trails as sponsors are excited about our potential. The only critics have been people with personal issues with me but.... cyclists are in charge.
  24. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. The official, marshalls, spectators and mostly the riders. We truly appreciate the kind words of appreciation for the tracks.I thank all my staff as well.Next official event will be the 25th July at a Schools Challange. Night racing about to kick off again. For the results se our web... www.thecyclehub.co.za.
  25. This Wednesday, 5th will be the next night race at Rietvlei. We start at 6.30 with registration from 5;45pm. Top of the log is Clinton Hefer and a new course record was set up by Quinton Harcombe..... a blisterring 1H14m10sec. This for a 5 lapper of 5.5k per lap.
