  1. Bottelary Hills Green route this afternoon.
  2. My SS "upgraded" with Surly karate monkey fork. Not to bad on the old wrists, the fatter Nobby Nic upfront probably helping.
  3. Bottelary hills on saturday afternoon.
  4. Hi Shaun. I would use the existing tires with slime tubes until the tires are finished and in the meantime you could look around for specials on tubeless tires. My LBS charge about R120 per wheel to convert to tubeless (I had the tape already) and the tires will cost R500-700 each.
  5. Yes, I remember my first mtb in the mid 90's was also an Avalanche Reflex. And I thought that was a great bike! Had many exciting trips on that bike :-)
  6. Please let us know if or when you find a suitable fork. I'm also looking for straight steerer rigid fork with axle to crown of 450-460mm. Rapide 27,5 fork might be an option for me when stock arrives.
  7. I use that route regulary. No gates and never had problems with dogs or people. Only motorbikes not allowed.
  8. This is happening more and more. Hope your friend is feeling better soon. Difficult situation, polkadraai not really an alternative with them still busy with roadworks and not always possible to have a cycle buddy or group for the khayamandi section. Stay safe.
  9. You can also try Cyclosport (Tel 021 903 4538) in Kuilsrivier, sure they had ss sprockets and spacers at one stage.
  10. How hectic do you think that river crossing will be? Someone mentioned losing phones and chest high water! Was planning to go on saturday but not to keen on cycling while sitting on a wet sponge! Actually worried about my wife's hearing aid if the crossing is deep or on the slippery side.
  11. I have noticed over the the last few weeks a huge increase in riders without permits. Hazendal and zevenwacht entry points seems very popular with these idiots. Please buy a permit or stay away before we (legal riders) loose the right to enjoy our favourite trails. O yes, Thanks again to the land owners and trail builders. Much appreciated
  12. I'll be there on the single speed, doing the 17km. Supporting my wife who is very excited and looking forward to doing her second mtb funride. Enjoy the ride everyone!
  13. Goeie idee. Ek en 'n paar vriende sal ook belangstel.
  14. Glad all seems ok. Enjoy!
  15. I'm thinking that might be the problem. Friend of mine had an issue with his wider chain touching the chain guide. He ended up taking the guide off and modifying it. Don't know if it worked unfortunately.
  16. What type of chain do you use? I know 8speed work fine with the doofer but bmx / singlespeed chains tend to be very "tight"?
  17. I am also looking around for a rigid 26" fork, steel or carbon. My existing fork is more than 2kg, so even a steel rigid will be lighter. I need a straight steerer and axle to crown of between 450-460mm. Difficult to find! Did look at the chinese sites but the one I wanted was out of stock.
  18. Good news! Soon you will be on the bike again.
  19. Good news! Soon you will be on the bike again.
  20. Please give an update on your riding and hearing after the operation! Remember it will take some time and adjustments before you will get the full benefits of the implant. All the best.
  21. My wife has two implants, only wear one however when we go mtbing. Never had problems with the device falling off. Sweat also not a problem, she also plays netball and just wipe it dry afterwards or put it in the "dryer". Good luck with the operation, I believe it will make a big difference.
  22. Go for it Spider! Follow your dreams and ignore the negative comments.
  23. No, the guard is still there. Just out of view on the pic. No problems with the 8speed chain.
  24. My single speed. Tried to convert as cheap as possible - spacers, 18t sprocket, tensioner and 8speed chain worked out ± R530. Used existing 32 middle chain ring. Enjoying every minute on the bike except the real steep stuff, still need to strengthen the legs a bit :-)
  25. Yes, they are no1. Service is great and prices better than most. Try them.
